Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 12 min read Updated September 2026
You share one hatchback. You like the deep, woody end of the range and your spouse likes citrus, and neither of you is going to be argued out of it. The temptation is to treat this as a compromise problem - find the scent you both half-like and settle. There is a better structure available, and it comes straight out of how the two SOSA formats actually work. A hanging scents the cabin continuously and cannot be swapped between journeys; a spray does nothing until somebody presses it. That single difference turns a disagreement about taste into a question about who is driving, which is a much easier thing to solve.
SOSA Oud car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
Format decides this before scent does. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously and is not swapped between journeys, so it commits a shared cabin to one person's choice. A 10ml spray does nothing until its owner presses it, which makes it the only format that can belong to a driver rather than to the car - ₹449 to ₹549 a bottle, published at 100 sprays, three months and above at one a day.
Quick answers — read this first
Can two people with opposite fragrance tastes share one car? Yes, and the format decides it rather than the scent. A 12ml hanging runs continuously for 4 to 6 weeks and cannot be changed between journeys, so it commits the shared cabin to one person's choice. Two 10ml sprays are two separate bottles at ₹449 to ₹549 each, 100 sprays apiece, and each one only exists when its owner presses it.

Is a spray combo cheaper than buying two bottles? The published combos are 200 sprays across two scents at ₹899 or ₹949, and the four pairs are fixed - Jasmine & Lemon, Jasmine & Lavender, Oud + Lemon, Sandalwood & Oud. If one of those four happens to be your two scents, it is the tidy answer. If not, two separate bottles is the honest route, and you pick any two you want.

Will the citrus cancel out the woody one already in the car? No. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise or cancel one. So on a shared car the sequence matters - whoever sprays second is adding to what is already there rather than replacing it. Which is another argument for one press each rather than two, and for the format that does nothing when nobody presses it.
The short answer
Short answer: Two people with opposite tastes should look at format before scent. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously and cannot be swapped per journey, so it commits the shared cabin to one choice. Two 10ml sprays are two separate bottles at Rs 449 to Rs 549 each, 100 sprays apiece, and each exists only when its owner presses it.
The pick: Two separate 10ml SOSA car perfume sprays, ₹449 to ₹549 each - 100 sprays each, one per driver, because a spray is the only format that can belong to a person rather than to the car.
Why: A hanging scents the car. A spray scents a journey. When two people disagree, you want the one that attaches to the driver.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
My spouse and I share an electric hatchback but I enjoy woody fragrance while they prefer citrus. Could separate on-demand sprays work better than permanently scenting the shared cabin with one choice?
Yes, and the reason is structural rather than a matter of taste. Look at what the two formats actually commit you to. A 12ml hanging is the same price as the spray for the same scent, runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass, and has a stopper that loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. It is an excellent format and it has one property that is decisive here: it scents the car, continuously, and nobody is unhooking and rehanging a glass bottle between a morning commute and an evening one. Whatever goes in it is what the shared cabin is, for weeks. A 10ml spray does the opposite - it does nothing at all until somebody presses it. That makes it the only format in the range that can belong to a person rather than to the vehicle. The cost is plain and worth stating honestly: two sprays are two separate bottles, not one product with two settings. They are ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, with Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549, spray only - so two bottles is two of those prices, and each one is published at 100 sprays, or 3 months and above at one spray a day. For two drivers each pressing once on their own journeys, two bottles going down in parallel is a long time before either needs replacing. There is a published middle route if your two scents happen to be one of the four fixed pairs. A spray combo is 200 sprays across two scents at ₹899 or ₹949, published as 100 days at two a day rotating, and the pairs are Jasmine & Lemon, Jasmine & Lavender, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud. Oud + Lemon at ₹949 is literally the deepest scent in the range paired with a citrus, which is this question's shape exactly. Those four are the entire published set - none is composed to order. One limit to build the habit around. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise or cancel one already in the air. So the second person to press is adding rather than replacing, which is the real argument for one press each rather than two, and for talking about it once rather than discovering it on a Friday. And the car being electric has nothing to do with any of this - SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
A hanging belongs to the car. A spray belongs to whoever is driving. That is the whole difference here.
The short version for a shared car: decide the format before the scent. A hanging scents the car for weeks; a spray scents one journey and belongs to whoever pressed it. Two 10ml bottles at ₹449 to ₹549 each are 100 sprays apiece, three months and above at one a day - and one press each, on your own journeys, is the rule worth agreeing in advance.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

Three things to settle when two people share one cabin and disagree

Two people, one cabin, opposite ends of the range. The scents are the interesting part and the format is the part that decides it, so take them in that order - and settle one question about sequence before either of you buys anything.

01
What each format commits to
One scents the car for weeks; the other scents a journey
This is the structural fact the whole question turns on. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion and its stopper is a strength control, not a scent control - loosening it makes the same scent stronger, it does not make it somebody else's scent. Nobody is swapping a hanging between the school run and the drive home. So a hanging is a decision about what the shared cabin is, and in a two-driver car with opposite tastes that decision has a loser. A spray is the opposite commitment: none. It sits in the door bin doing nothing until its owner presses it, which makes it the only format that can be personal in a shared vehicle.
Tip: The stopper changes strength. It cannot change whose scent it is.
02
What two bottles cost
Two sprays are two products, and the arithmetic is comfortable
Be clear that this is a second purchase rather than a variant. Two 10ml sprays are two separate bottles, each ₹449 to ₹549 depending on the scent, and each published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. What makes it comfortable is that the two of you are not sharing one bottle's hundred; you each have your own, and each is being used only on your own journeys. Two drivers pressing once each on their own commutes is two bottles going down at half the rate a single shared bottle would. The published spray combos at ₹899 or ₹949 hold 200 sprays across two scents, but the four pairs are fixed, so they only help if your two are one of them.
03
The sequence problem
The second press adds to the first rather than replacing it
Here is the thing to agree on before either of you starts. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise or cancel a scent already there. So if you press woody in the morning and your spouse presses citrus at six, the evening cabin is not citrus - it is whatever the two of them are together, and neither of you chose that. This is not a reason to abandon the arrangement; it is a reason to make it one press each, on your own journeys, rather than a press every time somebody gets in. It also makes the doors the real tool. Two minutes with both doors open before an evening drive costs nothing and is the honest way to start from something closer to neutral.
Tip: Agree the rule once, rather than discovering it on a Friday evening.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
Settle it in this order and neither of you loses
  1. Decide format first. A hanging belongs to the car; a spray belongs to a driver.
  2. Agree one press each, on your own journeys. Not one every time somebody gets in.
  3. Open both doors for two minutes before an evening drive. It costs nothing.
  4. Two bottles, 100 sprays each, and neither of you is spending the other's.
The SOSA principle
A hanging is a decision about the car. A spray is a decision about the drive. Two people who disagree need the second kind.
And the only real cost is that two sprays are two bottles, each with its own hundred.

What the range publishes about woody and citrus, and what two bottles cost

The published relative ordering is the useful map here, and it runs from soft to deep: Lavender at ₹479 is the softest, then Lemon at ₹499, then Sandalwood at ₹479, with Oud at ₹509 published as the deepest in the range. For the woody driver that means Sandalwood, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud, with Vetiver dry and green rather than sweet. For the citrus one, Lemon, Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549, which is spray only, and the brighter Icy Mint at ₹489 and Sea Breeze at ₹509. Jasmine at ₹449 sits at the softer end and is often the one a household that cannot agree ends up agreeing on. If neither of you has tried any of them, the Discovery Set publishes nine fixed combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine - you choose one of the nine as published rather than composing your own.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways two drivers can share one cabin, and where each one fails
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
Two 10ml sprays, one each The arrangement that matches the problem. 100 sprays each at ₹449 to ₹549 a bottle, and each one only exists when its owner presses it. It fails on the fact that it is two purchases, and on evenings when both of you have pressed.
The Oud + Lemon spray combo ₹949 for 200 sprays across two published scents, which is the deepest scent in the range beside a citrus - this question's exact shape. It fails if your two scents are not one of the four fixed pairs, because none is composed to order.
One 12ml hanging, agreed between you Same price as a spray, 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion, stopper for strength, and nothing to remember. It fails as the answer to this particular question, because it commits the shared cabin to one person's choice for weeks at a time.
Nothing in the car, and open the doors Worth its place on the list. Two minutes with both doors open before a drive costs nothing and keeps the cabin closer to neutral for whoever is next. It fails in that it adds nothing - but it is the right first step under any of the three above.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Some published detail that matters when two people are buying. Both formats are the same price for the same scent, so nothing here is a budget decision in disguise. The 50ml spray is ₹1,499, 500 sprays and about a year and more - a poor first buy for a household still working out whose habit is whose. 15ml refills at ₹399 to ₹449 exist for the hanging across eight scents in refillable glass; there is no spray refill at all, and Orange Blossom has no refill in either form, which is worth knowing if the citrus driver falls for it. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity. Custom label or logo on product is the one branding option - no printed sleeve, no insert card.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

The stopper on a hanging changes how strong it is. It cannot change whose scent it is, and in a shared car that is the only question being asked.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Can two drivers use different car fragrances in one shared car?
Yes, if you use sprays rather than a hanging. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion and is not swapped between journeys, so it commits the cabin to one choice. Two 10ml sprays are two separate bottles at Rs 449 to Rs 549 each, 100 sprays apiece, and each only does anything when its owner presses it.
Does spraying citrus get rid of the woody scent from the morning?
No. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin and does not remove, neutralise or cancel one already in the air. The evening cabin is whatever the two scents are together. That is the argument for one press each on your own journeys, and for opening both doors for a couple of minutes before an evening drive if you want to start closer to neutral.
Is a spray combo better value than two separate bottles?
A spray combo is Rs 899 or Rs 949 and holds 200 sprays across two scents, published as 100 days at two a day rotating. The four pairs are fixed - Jasmine and Lemon, Jasmine and Lavender, Oud plus Lemon, Sandalwood and Oud - and none is composed to order. If your two scents are one of those four it is the neat answer; otherwise buy two bottles and choose freely.
Which scents are the woody ones and which are the citrus ones?
SOSA publishes a relative ordering rather than families: Lavender is the softest, then Lemon, then Sandalwood, with Oud published as the deepest. Sandalwood, Vetiver and Oud are the deep end, and Lemon and Mysore Orange Blossom are the citrus side, with Icy Mint and Sea Breeze brighter again. Jasmine sits at the softer end of the range.
Does it matter that the shared car is electric?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and makes no powertrain claim of any kind. Two people with different tastes sharing one cabin is a question about who is driving and what each of them presses, and it would be identical in a petrol car on the same driveway. Occupied hours, ventilation and who else drives it are the real variables.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product details reflect the SOSA range; the reasoning about parking, occupancy and ventilation applies to any brand.

Specifications verified from the live SOSA product pages, September 2026: SOSA publishes nine car perfume scents. Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
