“Dark gourmand” is one of my favourite requests — it means someone wants the cosy, edible warmth of a gourmand but with shadows: bitter, woody, a little smoky, adult. People often ask for a chocolate attar to get there. Let me be straight: SOSA does not make a chocolate attar. But the dark-gourmand feeling? That we absolutely have, and I will show you exactly how to build it from what is real.
Quick answers — read this first
Does SOSA have a chocolate attar? No — there is no chocolate oil in our range, and I won’t pretend otherwise. For a true dark gourmand, the Nawaab attar (dark oud-saffron) and Tabac Noir (roasted tobacco-vanilla) are the honest picks.

What makes a gourmand ‘dark’? Bitterness, woods, smoke and restraint. A dark gourmand is warm and slightly edible but never sugary — it has shadow, not just sweetness.

Oil or spray for a dark gourmand? An oil like Nawaab sits close and broods beautifully; Tabac Noir as a spray gives more roasted warmth in the air.
The short answer
Short answer: SOSA does not make a chocolate attar. For a genuine dark gourmand — warm, edible-adjacent, but bitter and woody rather than sweet — the Nawaab attar (dark oud-saffron) is my honest oil pick, and Tabac Noir (roasted tobacco-vanilla) is the EDP that delivers that shadowy warmth.
Best pick: for a sophisticated woody-vanilla, Tabac Noir (tobacco-vanilla, from ₹599); for sweet-but-expensive, Zaffran (saffron-amber); for warm-not-sweet in a roll-on oil, the Ameeri attar (from ₹385).
Shop: the Tabac Noir, Zaffran & Chashni EDPs, or the warm roll-on attars (from ₹379).

Straight answer
How do I build a dark-gourmand feeling from real SOSA scents?
Start with the darkest oil we make. Nawaab (white oud & saffron) is dry, spicy and brooding — the closest thing we have to that bitter, shadowy dark-gourmand core.

Add roasted warmth if you want it edible. Tabac Noir brings tobacco and vanilla — the “cosy, slightly sweet” layer — over dark woods, which is the gourmand half of “dark gourmand.”

Keep it honest and keep it light. There is no chocolate here, so don’t chase cocoa — chase the mood: dark, warm, a little bitter. Apply sparingly so it broods rather than shouts.

Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
No chocolate attar at SOSA. For a real dark gourmand: Nawaab (dark oud-saffron oil) as the shadowy core, Tabac Noir (roasted tobacco-vanilla) for cosy warmth.

What actually makes a gourmand “dark”

1
The dark core
Nawaab — oud & saffron
Nawaab attar - oud and saffron Nawaab attar · oud & saffronFrom ₹399 Nawaab is our brooding oil: dry oud, warm saffron, a resinous depth that reads adult and a little mysterious. It has the bitterness and shadow a dark gourmand needs — it just gets there through oud rather than cocoa.
2
The cosy layer
Tabac Noir — roasted & warm
Tabac Noir - tobacco-vanilla Tabac Noir · tobacco-vanillaFrom ₹599 For the “gourmand” half — the edible, comforting warmth — Tabac Noir brings roasted tobacco and creamy vanilla over dark woods. Together with a dark oil, it gives that bittersweet, cosy-but-serious feeling people mean by dark gourmand.
Tip: Layer a dab of Nawaab under a light spritz of Tabac Noir for a genuinely dark, roasted, faintly sweet effect — the honest DIY dark gourmand.
3
The honest gap
No cocoa in the bottle
SOSA attar trio - pack of 3 SOSA attar trio · pack of 3₹1,055 I want you to buy the right thing, so: there is no chocolate note in any SOSA product. What we offer is the dark-gourmand architecture — woods, smoke, spice, a whisper of sweet — through Nawaab and Tabac Noir. Try both via the attar trio if you like.
SOSA Tabac Noir - the grown-up woody tobacco-vanilla
The sophisticated vanilla Tabac Noir From ₹599 Tabac Noir (tobacco-vanilla, inspired by Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille) is vanilla for grown-ups - warm and creamy, but wrapped in pipe tobacco, dry woods and spice so it reads rich and expensive rather than sugary. The reference point for anyone who wants vanilla without the cupcake. An EDP in 10ML (₹599), 50ML (₹1,799) and 100ML (₹3,499). See Tabac Noir →

The detail, laid out

Building a dark gourmand
What the mood needs, and which real SOSA scent supplies it
Dark-gourmand element What it does SOSA source
Bitter / shadowy core Stops it being sweet Nawaab (oud, saffron)
Roasted warmth The cosy, edible feeling Tabac Noir (tobacco)
Restrained sweetness Comfort, not candy Tabac Noir’s vanilla
Dry woods Grown-up structure Both
Actual chocolate — Not made by SOSA
Pick your kind of sweet
Woody-vanilla, sweet-amber, or a genuinely sweet gourmand
The SOSA principle
A dark gourmand is not about the dessert note — it is about the shadow around it. Get the woods, smoke and bitterness right and you barely need the sweet part at all.
Which is why Nawaab plus Tabac Noir gets you there with no chocolate in sight.
SOSA Zaffran - saffron sweet-amber that smells expensive rather than dessert
Sweet the expensive way Zaffran From ₹599 Zaffran (saffron sweet-amber, inspired by Baccarat Rouge 540) is what “sweet but sophisticated” smells like - a glowing saffron-amber sweetness that feels luxurious, not edible. For a genuinely fun, fruity-sweet gourmand there is Chashni (inspired by Burberry Her). Both EDPs from ₹599. See Zaffran →
You don’t need cocoa to smell like a dark gourmand. You need shadow: oud, tobacco, dry woods, and just a breath of sweetness.

Which SOSA fragrance to pick

The whole decision fits in one box: decide where on the sweetness dial you want to sit - woody-vanilla, sweet-amber, a fun gourmand, or a warm sugar-free oil - and match it to the right SOSA scent. Remember your skin and the heat both push sweetness up, so test on skin and give it an hour. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Match the sweetness you want to the right SOSA fragrance
Woody-vanilla, sweet-amber, a fun gourmand, or warm-not-sweet in an oil
What you want Best SOSA pick Why
Sophisticated / dry / woody vanilla (& vanilla for men) Tabac Noir (from ₹599) Tobacco, dry woods & spice keep the vanilla rich, never sugary
Sweet but expensive-smelling · amber glow Zaffran (from ₹599) Saffron sweet-amber reads luxurious, not edible
A fun, genuinely sweet / fruity gourmand Chashni (from ₹599) Sweet fruity-gourmand done grown-up, not childish
Warm, creamy “vanilla feeling” with zero sugar, in an oil Ameeri (from ₹385) Sandalwood warmth = cosy & woody, close to the skin
Deeper, spicier warmth in an oil Nawaab (from ₹399) Oud & saffron - warm and dry, long-wearing
How to read this box: “sweet” is a spectrum, not one smell. What separates an expensive vanilla from a cupcake is what surrounds it - dry woods, tobacco, amber, spice and musk make vanilla read grown-up, while caramel and sugar make it read edible. For the most sophisticated woody-vanilla, Tabac Noir is the reference; for sweet-that-smells-expensive, Zaffran; for a fun fruity-sweet, Chashni (these are SOSA's own interpretations inspired by well-known profiles, as EDP sprays from ₹599). If you want the warm feeling of vanilla without any sugar and in a close roll-on oil, the Ameeri attar's sandalwood is the honest match. Remember two things: your skin and the heat both amplify sweetness, so a scent can turn sweeter on you than on a blotter - test on skin and give it an hour. Everything is made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
SOSA Ameeri attar - warm creamy sandalwood, warm-not-sweet in a roll-on oil
Warm-not-sweet, in an oil Ameeri Attar From ₹385 If you want the cosy feeling of vanilla without any sugar - and in a close, roll-on oil - Ameeri (Taif rose & Indian sandalwood) gives a warm, creamy-woody glow that reads like comfort, not dessert. Nawaab (oud & saffron) is the deeper, spicier cousin. Roll-on attars in 3/6/12ML from ₹379. Shop the attars →

Frequently asked questions

Is a dark gourmand good for Indian weather?
In winter and evenings, wonderfully. In peak heat, keep it light — warm skin amplifies both sweetness and depth, so a dab of Nawaab goes a long way.
Can I wear a dark gourmand to the office?
Yes, applied sparingly — the oil format of Nawaab stays close, and a single light spritz of Tabac Noir reads as refined warmth, not dessert.
So there is genuinely no chocolate SOSA scent?
Genuinely none, and I’d rather tell you than sell you a fantasy. The dark-gourmand feeling is real and available — through oud, tobacco and woods, not cocoa.
Want a real dark gourmand?
Nawaab for the shadow, Tabac Noir for the roasted warmth
SOSA makes no chocolate attar — but oud, saffron, tobacco and dry woods give you the dark, brooding gourmand you’re after.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Fragrance is personal and performance varies: your skin chemistry, body warmth, the weather and how much you apply all change how sweet or how strong a scent reads - descriptions here are honest guidance, not guarantees. Sweetness in particular is amplified by warm skin and hot weather, so a vanilla or gourmand can turn sweeter on you than on paper; always test on skin and give it an hour to settle.

SOSA sweet fragrances & prices (verified 2026): Tabac Noir (tobacco-vanilla), Zaffran (saffron sweet-amber) and Chashni (sweet fruity-gourmand) are SOSA's own eau de parfum interpretations inspired by well-known fragrance profiles, in 10ML (₹599), 50ML (₹1,799–1,899) and 100ML (₹3,499–3,599). For a warm, sugar-free “vanilla feeling” in a close roll-on oil, the Ameeri (Taif rose & sandalwood, from ₹385) and Nawaab (oud & saffron, from ₹399) attars are the honest match; SOSA does not make a literal dessert-vanilla or a standalone coffee/chocolate/caramel attar.
