A sample flat needs one scent machine, so the only question that matters is where it stands. Get that right and the whole apartment reads as one home; get it wrong and you have a strongly scented bedroom and an entrance that smells of nothing.
Quick answers — read this first
Where should a scent machine be placed in a sample flat? On the entrance-to-living air path, roughly 1.2 to 1.8 metres off the floor, and within two or three metres of where conditioned air enters the living room. One SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) placed there covers the whole flat, because it is rated to 1000m³ and a sample flat is a fraction of that. Do not put it in a bedroom corner and do not put it in the direct draught of the front door.

Can the scent machine go in a bedroom instead? It can, but it is the wrong spot. Scent moves with air, and in a flat the air moves from the living space outwards. A SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) in a bedroom corner scents that bedroom strongly and leaves the entrance, which is the first impression, doing nothing.

Should the machine be visible in a styled sample flat? It does not have to be. The SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is 165 x 80.5 x 215mm and can stand on a console, be wall mounted at about 1.5 metres, or be mounted to the HVAC. Wall mounting is the usual answer in a show flat where every surface is styled, and the key-lock keeps visitors from changing the settings.
The short answer
Short answer: put the single SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) on the entrance-to-living air path, 1.2 to 1.8 metres off the floor and close to where conditioned air enters the living room - one machine covers the whole flat, because it is rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999), freestanding on a console or wall mounted at about 1.5 metres, on the air path between the front door and the living room.
Next step: send the floor plan and mark where the air-conditioning sits - book a free scenting plan and we will mark the spot for you.
Where the machine goes in a sample flat - and where it should never goBest: entrance-to-living air path, 1.2 to 1.8m upGood: beside the air-conditioning return in the living roomWeak: a bedroom corner - the scent stays in that roomBad: in the front door draught - the scent is pulled straight outNever: on a styled dining table or beside the kitchen exhaust
A sample flat is one body of air. Put the single Vaayu where that air enters the living space and the rest of the flat is covered without a machine in every room.
The one machine - three ways to place it
Straight answer
Where exactly should the scent machine go in a sample flat?
On the air path between the front door and the living room, about 1.2 to 1.8 metres off the floor, and within two or three metres of wherever conditioned air actually enters the living space. That is the whole answer. One SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is rated to 1000m³, roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft, and a sample flat is a fraction of that, so you are not placing a machine to cover a room - you are placing it to feed the flat's air. Height matters because nebulised scent disperses and settles: at floor level it gets trapped by rugs and sofa bases, and above head height in a normal 10 ft ceiling it hangs where nobody is standing. Avoid four spots. Not the direct draught of the front door, where the scent is pulled out to the lift lobby every time it opens. Not a bedroom corner, which scents one room beautifully and the rest of the flat not at all. Not the dining table or a styled console top where buyers put their hands. Not beside the kitchen exhaust, which will remove the fragrance faster than the machine can make it. The Vaayu is 165 x 80.5 x 215mm and 0.9kg, so it stands on a console, wall mounts at about 1.5 metres, or fixes to the HVAC. It runs under 38dB, it is waterless, so there is no damp near veneer, silk or artwork, and the key-lock stops visitors changing the setting. A free scenting plan will mark the spot on your floor plan, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Entrance-to-living air path, 1.2 to 1.8 metres up, close to where the air-conditioning delivers into the living room. One machine, one spot.
The whole flat runs on one SOSA Vaayu - waterless, under 38dB, rated to 1000m³ (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 165 x 80.5 x 215mm so it sits on a console or wall mounts at 1.5 metres, with a key-lock for a flat full of visitors.

Three things that decide the spot

Placement in a flat comes down to three questions: where does the air enter, how high should the machine sit, and who can reach it.

1
Follow the air, not the floor plan
Find where conditioned air enters the living space
Walk the flat with the air-conditioning running and find the point where air is genuinely moving into the living room - a supply grille, a split unit, the return, or the balcony door that stays ajar during viewings. Stand the machine within two or three metres of that, on the entrance side. The scent then rides the air the flat already moves instead of sitting in a pocket. The geometric centre of the living room is almost never the right spot, and neither is the prettiest corner.
Tip: if the air is not moving past the machine, the flat is not being scented - it is just a scented shelf.
SOSA Vaayu
The Vaayu is rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft, so a whole flat is well inside one machine. Placement is doing the work, not machine count.

2
Height changes everything
1.2 to 1.8 metres off the floor, not on the floor
Nebulised scent disperses into the air and settles gently. On the floor it is absorbed by rugs, sofa bases and skirting, and the flat smells faint at nose height. Too high in a standard 10 ft ceiling and it hangs above where people are standing. A console top, a sideboard, a shoe cabinet by the entrance, or a wall mount at about 1.5 metres all put the outlet in the band you actually want. The unit is 215mm tall and 0.9kg, so it does not need a dedicated piece of furniture.
SOSA Vaayu
Freestanding, wall mount or HVAC mount are all supported by the same Vaayu, which is what makes a styled flat easy to work with.
See SOSA Vaayu →
3
Out of the visitor's way
Not on the dining table, not where a child can reach
A sample flat is a public space during a launch. Keep the machine off the styled dining table and away from bedside consoles, run the cable behind the furniture, and use the key-lock so nobody adjusts the intensity between appointments. Auto-stop handles an empty tank. Because the Vaayu is waterless, there is no damp and no residue on veneer, marble, silk or artwork, which is the usual reason placement gets vetoed by an interior designer.
Tip: lock the settings before the first viewing, not after someone has turned it to maximum.
SOSA Vaayu
Key-lock and auto-stop are built in, and at under 38dB the machine is inaudible under the split unit.

The SOSA principle
People place a scent machine where there is a free surface. Air does not care about free surfaces. Place it where the air is already moving and one machine does what five badly placed ones cannot.
In a flat, the entrance-to-living run is the artery. Everything else is a branch off it.
SOSA Vaayu
The machine that goes in the spot: SOSA Vaayu, 1000m³ coverage, waterless and residue-free, 165 x 80.5 x 215mm so it sits on a console or wall mounts at 1.5 metres, ₹11,999.

Good spots and bad spots, side by side

Here are the spots that work and the spots that quietly waste your fragrance, in one table.

One fragrance for the whole flat, chosen once. Air-conditioned flats flatten sweetness and amplify anything heavy, so a clean profile - white tea, light woods, soft citrus - holds up across a full day of viewings where a dessert-like scent turns cloying by the third appointment. Once the spot is fixed, the two things left to decide are how hard the machine runs and when it starts: see how strong the fragrance should be inside a sample apartment and the full Vaayu placement and setup guide. If you are scenting the sales gallery as well, the sales gallery scenting plan covers how the two spaces work together.

SOSA Vaayu

A buyer should meet the fragrance at the door and forget about it by the balcony. That is a placement decision, not a fragrance decision.

A quick word on choosing: you are buying one machine and then spending ten minutes deciding where it stands, and the ten minutes matter more than the purchase. One honest note - fragrance works alongside ventilation and cleaning and cannot cover fresh paint, adhesive, new PVC or damp in a newly finished flat. Cure and air the flat out first, then place the machine. A free scenting plan will mark the spot from your drawings.

A note from Sonal

The first thing a buyer does in a sample flat is open the door and breathe. Everything after that - the light, the finishes, the view from the balcony - is read against that first half second. So the spot you choose for the machine is really a decision about what the door opening feels like.

My advice is unglamorous: put the Vaayu where the air moves, not where the shelf is free. In practice that is the run between the front door and the living room, about waist to shoulder height, near whatever brings conditioned air into that space. One machine rated to 1000m³ is far more than a flat needs, so you are not solving for coverage. You are solving for the path the air takes.

And the part I will not soften: fragrance cannot cover fresh paint, adhesive, new PVC or damp. A newly finished flat needs curing time and open windows, not a machine switched to maximum. Scent laid over a construction smell gives you both at once, which is worse than either. Ventilate first, then scent the clean space. Everything is made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Where should you place a scent machine in a sample flat?
On the air path between the front door and the living room, about 1.2 to 1.8 metres off the floor, and within two or three metres of where conditioned air enters the living space. One SOSA Vaayu (Rs 11,999) placed there covers the whole flat, because it is rated to 1000 cubic metres, roughly 2,000 to 3,000 sq ft, and a sample flat is a fraction of that.
Should the machine go in the bedroom of a show flat?
No. A machine in a bedroom corner scents that one room strongly and leaves the entrance, which is the first impression, doing nothing. Leave the bedroom doors open during viewings and let the air carry the fragrance in from the living space instead.
How high should the diffuser sit?
Between about 1.2 and 1.8 metres. On the floor the scent is absorbed by rugs and sofa bases and reads faint at nose height. A console top, a shoe cabinet by the entrance or a wall mount at about 1.5 metres all work. The unit is 165 x 80.5 x 215mm and 0.9kg, so it needs very little space.
Will it damage the finishes in a styled sample flat?
The SOSA Vaayu is waterless, with no heat and no residue, so there is no dampness near veneer, marble, silk or artwork. That is the reason it is usable in a fully styled flat where a steam or ultrasonic unit would not be.
Can visitors change the settings?
Not if you use the key-lock, which is designed for public spaces. Set the intensity and the timer on the Bluetooth app, lock the unit, and the settings stay put through a weekend of walk-in viewings. Auto-stop handles an empty tank.
