Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used

This is the summary page for the cluster, so it will not offer a preference. It will offer a sequence. An urban owner with a compact car, short journeys, closed windows and long parked stretches has four facts to work with, and those four facts resolve the decision in a fixed order - occupied minutes first, then journey count, then who else is in the car, then scent, which comes last and matters least to the mechanics. Work it in that order and the answer falls out. Work it in reverse, starting from a scent you liked, and you will end up with the right bottle in the wrong format.
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
How should an urban EV owner choose a car fragrance? In this order. One: count occupied minutes a day. Two: count separate journeys, because a 10ml is 100 sprays and sprays are spent per journey. Three: decide who controls it if others drive. Four: choose format - spray at ₹449 to ₹549, or the hanging at the same price and 4 to 6 weeks. Five: choose scent.
Does a compact cabin or a short journey change what to buy? Journey length changes it; cabin size cannot be answered with a number, because SOSA publishes no cabin-volume or coverage figure for a hatchback or for any car. Short journeys argue for a format you operate, since a long continuous output is collected by an empty car. The hanging's stopper is the strength control if you prefer the continuous shape.
Does being electric enter the decision anywhere? No, at no step. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim, and charging is not a fragrance variable. What does enter the decision is that the car is shut for long stretches, parked somewhere specific, occupied briefly and sometimes shared - and every one of those is a behaviour rather than a drivetrain.
The short answer
Short answer: Work it in order: occupied minutes, journeys a day, who else drives, then format, then scent. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, or 3 months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price, runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper sets the strength. The powertrain enters at no step.
Why: Short, frequent, closed journeys in a car that is mostly parked reward a format you operate. Continuous output is collected mostly by an empty cabin.
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
How should an urban EV owner actually choose a car fragrance, given that the vehicle is compact, the journeys are short, the windows stay closed and the car spends most of the day parked?
Take the four facts in order and the decision resolves itself; the scent is the last step, not the first.Step one, occupied minutes. Add up the time somebody is actually in the cabin. For a short urban pattern it is usually under an hour, against twenty-three parked. That one number tells you whether you are buying something to switch on or something to leave running. Step two, journeys.A SOSA 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day - and a spray is spent per occasion, so four short errands with a spray before each is a very different bottle life from one spray each morning. Count the occasions, not the kilometres. Step three, control. If anyone else drives the car, a spray that two people both reach for is the one situation where a cabin ends up overdone, because nobody knows who used it last; a hanging removes the question entirely and its stopper is loosened for stronger or tightened for subtler. Step four, format. The spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and the 12ml hanging is the same price for the same scent and runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass. Since price does not separate them, choose on habit. Step five, scent, from the nine - and if it is still open, the Discovery Set publishes nine fixed combinations from ₹699. What never enters the sequence: the powertrain, because SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no claim that fragrance behaves differently in any of them, and charging, which is not a fragrance variable - closure and parking are. And fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Minutes, journeys, who else drives, format, scent. In that order, and the powertrain is not on the list.
The quick version: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 when you want to decide journey by journey - it holds 100 sprays, which is three months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks on its own, with the stopper to adjust it. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays, once you know your rate.
The decision sequence, in the order that actually resolves it
Most car fragrance decisions go wrong because they start at the end - a scent someone liked, bought in whichever format was in front of them. Three principles fix the order, and they apply to any urban car regardless of what is under the bonnet.
01
Occupancy first
The first number is minutes inside, and it is smaller than it feels
Everything downstream depends on this one figure, so get it honestly. A short urban pattern - a commute, an errand, a school run - is typically well under an hour of occupied cabin in a twenty-four hour day. A format that produces continuously is therefore producing mostly into an empty car, which is not a defect but is worth knowing before you pay for it. A format you operate produces only when somebody is there. Neither is better in the abstract; the number tells you which shape fits your day. And the number is minutes, not kilometres - a short distance in slow traffic is a long occupancy, and the odometer will not show it.
Tip: Get this figure wrong and every later step inherits the error.
02
Journeys are the currency
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and a spray is spent per occasion
The second number is how many separate times a day somebody gets into the car, because that is what a bottle is actually spent on. A 10ml holds 100 sprays; the 50ml holds 500 and is published at about a year and more at ₹1,499. The published working is 3 months and above at one spray a day and 50 days at two a day. An urban day of four short trips, with a spray before each, is a rate four times the first of those. That is not a fault in the bottle; it is a decision about how often you want the cabin refreshed, and it is the single most useful piece of arithmetic in this whole category.
03
What is not in the sequence
The powertrain, the charging and the cabin's size all fail to qualify
Three things that feel relevant and are not. The powertrain: SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no claim that fragrance behaves differently in any of them, because a perfume sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it. Charging: not a fragrance variable either - the relevant fact is that the cabin is shut for eight or ten hours, which is equally true of any car parked in the same place overnight. Cabin size: SOSA publishes no cabin-volume, coverage or scent-throw figure for a hatchback or for anything else, so a page that gives you a square-footage number for a car is inventing it. What is in the sequence instead is where the car parks, how long it stays shut, how long anybody is in it, and who else drives it.
Tip: Three plausible variables, none of them published, none of them in the decision.
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
The sequence, in five lines you can work in a minute
Occupied minutes a day. Not kilometres, not the hours the car simply exists.
Journeys a day. That is what a 100-spray bottle is actually spent on.
Who else drives it, and whether anyone should be deciding the level daily.
Format, then scent. Same price either way, so habit decides and taste follows.
The SOSA principle
Occupied minutes, journeys a day, who else drives, then format, then scent. Every step has a published figure behind it except the last, which is yours alone.
And the step everyone wants to start with - the scent - is the only one that changes nothing about how the product behaves.
Where scent enters the sequence, and it is later than most people think
Scent arrives at step five, and by then the format is already settled, so the choice is unconstrained. The range runs softest to deepest in the pages' own words. Lavender at ₹479 is the softest; Jasmine at ₹449 is the entry price and a white floral. Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499 and Sea Breeze at ₹509 are the bright end. Sandalwood at ₹479 and Vetiver at ₹509 are the dry woods, and Oud at ₹509 is the deepest. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is the ninth and is spray only, which is the one case where step five can overrule step four.
The SOSA gift edit
Four outcomes the sequence produces, and who each one is actually for
The option
Who it suits, and where it fails
A 10ml spray alone, ₹449 to ₹549
The usual outcome for a single driver with short journeys - 100 sprays, three months at one a day. It is for someone content to press a top as they sit down, and wrong for anyone who will forget.
A 12ml hanging alone, same price
4 to 6 weeks continuous, stopper as the strength control. It is for the owner who wants the cabin simply to be a certain way, and for a shared car where nobody should be deciding daily. Wrong if you want some journeys plain.
Both - a hanging running, a spray in the door
The fullest control, and the shape the product pages describe. It is for a car with long occupied stretches and varied passengers. Wrong for a two-trip day, where it is more apparatus than the situation needs.
The Discovery Set, nine fixed combinations from ₹699
Three 10ml sprays for the owner who has settled format but not scent. It is fixed - you choose one of the nine published combinations rather than building one - so check the trio you want is among them.
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
Four published facts that complete the picture and are easy to miss. The 50ml spray is ₹1,499 on every scent, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more - the size for a routine you have already tested. 15ml hanging refills are ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in a refillable glass bottle, and there is no spray refill at all. Four combos are published, Jasmine and Lemon and Jasmine and Lavender at ₹899, Oud with Lemon and Sandalwood with Oud at ₹949, and a spray combo is 200 sprays, published as 100 days at two a day rotating. And the whole range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity.
₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 sprays. Fragrance you decide to have, journey by journey - which is the format that suits a car occupied an hour or two a day.
The same price as the spray, published at 4 to 6 weeks in a refillable glass bottle. The stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler - which is the only strength control SOSA publishes.
Three sprays from ₹699, or all nine at ₹2,999. Nine published combinations and those nine are the whole range - you pick from them, you do not assemble one.
from ₹699
The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.
Five steps, and the powertrain appears at none of them. Where it parks, how long it is shut and how long anybody is inside are the whole of it.

The SOSA gifting range
Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.
The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin
The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler
₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out
₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs
₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you
₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder
from ₹3,999
The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal
We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.
What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.
So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.
And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.
Frequently asked questions
What is the right order to decide car fragrance in?
Occupied minutes a day, then journeys a day, then who else drives the car, then format, then scent. The first three are facts about your week, the fourth follows from them, and the fifth is pure preference. Starting at the scent is what leaves people with the right bottle in a format that does not suit how they drive.
Does a compact hatchback need less fragrance than a larger car?
SOSA publishes no cabin-volume or coverage figure for any car, so there is no published basis for scaling by size. What is published is that the spray is a fine-mist atomizer where one spray covers the cabin, and that the hanging's stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Strength is something you set.
Does an urban EV owner need anything different from a petrol owner?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim. Two urban owners can need very different answers, but never because of what turns the wheels - it is parking, occupied hours, journey count, whether the windows open and who shares the car.
If the windows are always closed, does that change the choice?
It is one of the genuine variables, yes. A cabin that is never ventilated holds whatever is in it for longer, which for most owners argues for choosing a scent they are sure about rather than for choosing a stronger one. The hanging's stopper exists precisely so the level can come down.
How long will a 10ml spray last an urban driver?
It holds 100 sprays. At one spray a day that is the published 3 months and above; at two a day it is 50 days. A driver making four short trips and spraying before each is working at four times the first rate, which is a choice about how the car should feel rather than a problem with the bottle.
Take the next step
Work out your own number, then pick the format
The 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 when you want to decide, journey by journey - 100 sprays, so three months at one a day and fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging at the same price when you would rather not think about it at all - 4 to 6 weeks, with the stopper as the strength control. The 50ml at ₹1,499, 500 sprays and about a year and more, once you already know your routine rather than while you are still finding it. Tell SOSA how the car is parked, how long anybody is actually inside it and who else drives it, on WhatsApp.
Not sure which one suits the person you are buying for? Send SOSA their age, whether they drive, whether they like their home scented and your budget on WhatsApp, and you will get an honest answer - including when the cheaper product is the better gift.

What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
