The instinct is to add more drops — and it's usually the wrong instinct. More fragrance raises intensity near the machine but doesn't extend the mist's reach; for a larger room the honest answer is a second diffuser or a bigger machine, not a heavier pour. You can't out-dose a room's size.
Quick answers — read this first
More drops or another diffuser? For a genuinely larger room, another diffuser. A drop or two more helps a slightly-under room, but past the Sukoon's size you just get a hotspot near the machine and faint corners.

When do more drops actually help? When the room is within the Sukoon's band (~200–250 sq ft) and just reads a touch light — go from 4 to 6 drops. Beyond that, dose isn't the lever.

Second Sukoon or upgrade to Vaayu? Two separate rooms → a second Sukoon or a Boond. One big open room → upgrade to the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999).
The short answer
Short answer: For a larger room, buy another diffuser — more drops raise intensity near the Sukoon but don't extend its reach; add a second unit for two rooms, or upgrade to the waterless Vaayu for one big open space.
The pick: the SOSA Sukoon (₹1,799) ultrasonic diffuser plus a Hotel Collection scent (from ₹299) is the hotel-at-home starter; a Boond (₹799) suits a small room or desk, and for a large, open-plan or high-humidity space the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) adds no moisture.

Straight answer
Should you add more fragrance or buy another diffuser for a larger room?
1. Drops set intensity, not reach. More fragrance makes the air near the machine stronger; it does nothing for the far corners. Reach is a placement and hardware question.

2. First, exhaust the free fixes. Raise and centre the Sukoon, get it out of the AC draught, close doors while it builds. Often that's all a borderline room needed.

3. Nudge the dose — once. If it's within the Sukoon's band and just a touch light, go from 4 to 6 drops. If that doesn't do it, stop pouring; the room is too big.

4. Two rooms means two machines. A second Sukoon or a Boond covers a separate room a single unit never could — one machine can't be in two places.

5. One big open room means upgrade. For an open-plan or large single volume, the waterless Vaayu (₹11,999) is the right tool — not more drops, not two Sukoons fighting the span.

More drops = a hotspot; more room = another machine — a second Sukoon/Boond, or Vaayu (₹11,999) for one big open space.

Why more drops rarely fixes a big room

1
INTENSITY VS REACH
Two different dials
Sukoon - the diffuser Sukoon · the diffuser₹1,799 It helps to see dose and coverage as separate dials. Dose (drops) controls how intense the scent is where the mist actually lands — near the machine. Reach (placement and hardware) controls how far the mist travels. Adding drops turns up a dial that was never your problem: you get a stronger core and identical faint corners. That's why the 'just add more oil' instinct disappoints in a big room — you're adjusting intensity when the thing you lack is reach. And a heavy pour can tip a room into cloying near the unit while still failing far away.
Tip: If the near-machine area is already fine, more drops won't help the far side.
2
TWO ROOMS, TWO UNITS
A machine can't be in two places
Boond - small room Boond · small room₹799 If your 'larger room' is really two spaces — a bedroom and a study, a living room and a dining nook down a passage — then no single diffuser can scent both, at any dose. This is the natural second purchase: a second Sukoon for a full room, or a Boond (₹799) for a small one. You can even run different Hotel Collection scents in each. Two units at ~₹1,799 and ₹799 is still less than one upmarket candle a month, and it scents twice the home properly.
Tip: Bedroom Sukoon + desk Boond is the classic two-machine starter.
3
ONE BIG OPEN ROOM
That's an upgrade, not a duo
Vaayu - large room Vaayu · large room₹11,999 If instead it's one large, open, undivided space — a 400 sq ft open-plan living-dining — two Sukoons don't add up to a Vaayu; they just make two hotspots. A single open volume above ~300 sq ft is a job for the waterless Vaayu, built to project through up to 1000m³ with no added humidity. This is the honest upgrade the whole coverage story points to: Sukoon for a room, Vaayu for a big open volume. It's tool-fit, not a fault in either.
Tip: One open span = one bigger machine, not two small ones.

More drops, second diffuser, or Vaayu?

Read across from your actual situation — the mistake is reaching for drops when the problem is reach.

The decision
More drops vs second diffuser vs Vaayu
Your situation Right move Why
Room in range, just a touch light Add 1–2 drops (4 → 6) Intensity dial; cheap and quick
Strong near unit, faint corners Raise & centre first Reach is placement, not dose
Two separate rooms Second Sukoon or Boond One machine can't cover both
Long room, one end blank Second unit at the far end Covers a second zone
One big open-plan space Upgrade to Vaayu Built for large open volume
More drops didn't help at all Stop dosing; add hardware You can't out-dose room size

More fragrance makes a small room lovely and a big room cloying near the machine and empty far away.

Frequently asked questions

Will adding more fragrance help a larger room?
Only if the room is within the Sukoon's band and just reads a little light — then going from 4 to 6 drops helps. If the room is genuinely bigger than the Sukoon's reach, more drops just create a hotspot near the machine while the far corners stay faint. Reach isn't a dose problem.
Is it cheaper to add drops or buy a second diffuser?
Drops are cheaper per use, but they can't solve a coverage problem, so spending on them is wasted if the room's simply too big. A second Boond (₹799) or Sukoon (₹1,799) is a one-time cost that actually scents the space — better value than pouring fragrance into a room that can't hold it.
Two Sukoons or one Vaayu for a big living room?
It depends on the layout. Two separate enclosed rooms → two Sukoons. One large, open, undivided living-dining → one waterless Vaayu (₹11,999), because two Sukoons in one open span just make two hotspots rather than even coverage.
How do I know I've reached the Sukoon's limit?
You've raised it, centred it, kept it out of the AC draught, closed the door, and dosed to 5–6 drops — and the far side of the room is still faint. At that point the room has outgrown a single water diffuser, and the fix is a second unit or an upgrade, not more oil.
Can I mix scents if I buy a second diffuser?
Yes — that's part of the fun. Run White Tea Serenity in the bedroom and Quiet Luxury in the living room, say. Just keep adjacent, connected rooms in a similar family so the scents don't clash across a shared doorway.
Drops or hardware?
Buy the reach you need, not more fragrance you don't
Add drops only within the Sukoon's range; for two rooms add a second Sukoon or Boond, and for one big open space upgrade to the waterless Vaayu.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the technique applies to any brand's ultrasonic system.

Facts verified August 2026: An ultrasonic diffuser disperses a water-based fragrance as a cool micro-mist, scenting a room without heat or flame and adding a little humidity. Great hotels use commercial HVAC scenting to create a signature smell; at home the same effect comes from a diffuser plus a hotel-inspired blend. SOSA Sukoon is a 500ml ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser with a 7-colour mood light (₹1,799); Boond is a 300ml mini ultrasonic diffuser (₹799); both run the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance. The Hotel Collection comes in seven scents (Ritz-Carlton, Westin, 1 Hotels, St. Regis, Shangri-La, Four Seasons and W Hotels styles) in 15ml (₹299), 100ml (₹999) and 300ml (₹1,799), plus 15ml Pack of 7 (₹1,799); dose 3-6 drops per tank, use SOSA diffuser fragrance only (not raw essential/carrier oils), and rinse between scents. For large, open-plan or high-humidity spaces the waterless SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999, up to 1000m³) adds no humidity; the Aangan (₹25,999) is a whole-home HVAC system. The scents are SOSA's own interpretations; SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel brand. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
