What buyers ask us about hotel and spa scents
Including the questions where the answer is "we do not make that" and "you cannot put that on your skin"
"I want to smell like a luxury hotel lobby. What do I buy?"
Usually a clean white musk with soft woods. In our range that is Adaa. What we will not do is tell you it reproduces any particular hotel, because it does not and we have no authorisation to try.
Hotel-inspired scent · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Can I wear my reed diffuser oil as a perfume?"
No. Reed oil is assessed for evaporation from a reed in a room, not for leave-on skin application. They are different use cases with different exposure, and we will not sell you one as the other.
Home against skin · answered by Sonal Sahani
"You make a lavender reed diffuser. Do you make a lavender attar?"
No. Evening Calm is Himalayan lavender and chamomile for a room. We do not make a lavender attar, and rather than steer you to something that is not lavender, we will tell you that plainly.
What we do not make · answered by Sonal Sahani
"I want white tea and clean hotel linen on my skin."
We do not make that as an attar. Adaa is the closest thing we have, and it is citrus and jasmine sambac over white musk rather than a linen accord. If linen is the point, we are not your brand for it.
Clean linen · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Which hotel is the Hotel Collection based on?"
It is our own interpretation of a style of hospitality scenting. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group, and it is an ultrasonic diffuser fragrance for rooms rather than a skin product.
Independence · answered by Sonal Sahani
"Will it last all day like my spray?"
We do not publish hour figures for any fragrance, because how long one seems to last depends on your skin, the weather and how quickly you stop noticing it. An oil-carried attar sits close rather than projecting.

These are two different retreats rather than two versions of one. Jasmine with sandalwood is the Indian retreat: warm, floral, grounded, unmistakably of a place. White musk is the international retreat: cool, abstract, deliberately placeless. And we should say early that we do not make a single jasmine-sandalwood attar, so one of these routes takes two bottles.
Quick answers — read this first
What is the difference in feeling? Jasmine-sandalwood is warm, floral and grounded, and reads as a specific place. White musk is cool, abstract and deliberately placeless, reading as a cleanliness rather than a location.

Does SOSA make a jasmine-sandalwood attar? Not as one bottle. Ameeri has sandalwood with rose, Mastani has jasmine with rose and oudh, and Adaa has transparent jasmine with musk. The pairing exists across bottles, not in one.

What are the honest routes? Mastani Rs 389 for jasmine-led warmth with oudh in place of sandalwood, Ameeri Rs 385 for sandalwood-led warmth, or Adaa Rs 379 for the white musk route with a transparent jasmine already in it.
The short answer
Short answer: Jasmine-sandalwood is the Indian retreat, warm and grounded. White musk is the international one, cool and placeless. SOSA makes no single jasmine-sandalwood attar: Mastani Rs 389 is jasmine-led with oudh, Ameeri Rs 385 sandalwood-led, Adaa Rs 379 the musk route.
The honest limit: no fragrance we sell reproduces any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary scent, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any of them. Where we do not make a family, we say so rather than recommending something adjacent.
Home is not skin: reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. Attars and solid perfumes are the skin products.
Where a hotel-style scent actually lives - and what it is assessed forUltrasonic mist diffuser - water-based Hotel Collection fragrance, room useReed diffuser - its own alcohol-free reed oil, room useAttar or solid perfume - assessed for leave-on skinThe three do not interchangeA scent family can cross between them. A formulation cannot, because the exposure is different.
You can carry a scent family from a room to your skin. You cannot carry a formulation, because a product assessed for evaporating in a room has not been assessed for sitting on you. That distinction is the whole of this guide.
Straight answer
Which route, and what do you actually have?
Two retreats, and one honest gap on our side. The jasmine-sandalwood retreat. Warm, floral, grounded, slow. Jasmine supplies sweetness and body, sandalwood supplies density and a creamy floor, and the pairing reads as being somewhere specific rather than nowhere. This is the Indian version of the idea and it suits an oil carrier extremely well, because both materials are heavy. The white musk retreat. Cool, abstract, quiet, placeless. Musk gives you cleanliness as an impression rather than a location, which is why international hospitality adopted it. Less warmth, more air. Our honest position: we do not make a jasmine-sandalwood attar as a single bottle. What we have instead: Mastani ₹389 is jasmine-led and warm, with Damask rose and oudh where you were imagining sandalwood. Ameeri ₹385 is sandalwood-led and warm, with Taif rose where you were imagining jasmine. Adaa ₹379 is the white musk route and already carries a transparent jasmine sambac inside it, which makes it the only one of the three that touches both ideas. +91 96192 18531.
Jasmine-sandalwood is warm and specific. White musk is cool and placeless. We make no single bottle of the first.
If the brief is clean, quiet and expensive-feeling, the honest starting point in our range is Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml. If it is polished woods, Nawaab at ₹399.

Two retreats, two different scent logics

If the jasmine-sandalwood idea is what you actually want, there is a route worth knowing about, which is wearing two attars together. Layering is simple with oils: a small amount of one, a small amount of the other, applied to the same place and allowed to settle for a minute before you judge the result. Ameeri and Mastani layered give you sandalwood under jasmine, which is close to the pairing you described, with the oudh in Mastani and the saffron in Ameeri as additions you did not ask for but may well like. The honest caveat is that layering is an experiment rather than a composition. A perfumer deciding how much jasmine sits against how much sandalwood is making a hundred small decisions about proportion, and two finished attars applied together cannot replicate that, because each was balanced to work alone. The result can be very good and it can also be muddled, and which of the two you get depends on the quantities you use and on your own skin. This is a reasonable thing to try at three millilitres each and a poor thing to commit to at twelve, and it is the clearest argument for buying the trio if you are inclined to experiment, since you end up with three attars to try against each other for less than buying them singly.

1
Warm and placed, or cool and placeless
The decision in one line
Jasmine with sandalwood reads as being somewhere: warm, floral, grounded, specific. White musk reads as a cleanliness rather than a location, cool and deliberately abstract. Both are quiet. Only one of them has a geography, and that is the whole distinction between the two retreats.
Tip: Decide whether you want a place or an absence of place, and the rest is detail.
2
Both heavy materials suit an oil
Which is why the Indian route is the stronger one here
Jasmine and sandalwood are both heavy, tenacious materials that an oil carrier and skin warmth flatter rather than punish. A white musk accord also transfers well. So unusually, all the materials in this question work in the format, and the choice really is about character rather than about what survives.
3
Layering as an experiment
Honest about what it can and cannot do
Ameeri under Mastani gives sandalwood beneath jasmine, close to the pairing you described. But a perfumer balancing jasmine against sandalwood makes a hundred proportion decisions, and two finished attars applied together cannot replicate that because each was balanced to work alone. The result can be very good or muddled.
Tip: Worth trying at 3ml each. Not worth committing to at 12ml.
The SOSA principle
Layering two finished attars is an experiment, not a composition. Each one was balanced to work alone.
Which is why it is a reasonable thing to try in 3ml and a poor thing to commit to in 12ml.

What we have, including what we do not

The three honest routes, priced so the experiment is cheap. Jasmine-led warmth: Mastani ₹389 - night-blooming jasmine at full weight, Damask rose, oudh. Warm and floral and definitely from somewhere, with oudh rather than sandalwood underneath. Sandalwood-led warmth: Ameeri ₹385 - Indian sandalwood, Taif rose, saffron, soft oudh. The creamy floor you wanted, with rose rather than jasmine above it. The musk route, which touches both: Adaa ₹379 - a white musk accord with bergamot, green cardamom and jasmine sambac. The jasmine is transparent rather than heady, so this is the cool retreat with a floral thread running through it. If you want to try the pairing properly: the trio of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani is ₹1,055 in 3ml against ₹1,173 separately, which saves ₹118 and gives you both halves of the Indian route to layer against each other.

What SOSA actually makes

Every SOSA attar and solid perfume is alcohol-free and assessed for leave-on skin application. Our reed diffusers and the Hotel Collection ultrasonic fragrance are home products and are not assessed for skin. Here is the range with the honest description of each, including the families we do not make at all.

What we actually make, and what each one is for
One genuinely clean attar, two woody ones, two musk-based solids, and a room fragrance that is not for skin
Product Where it sits What it is, honestly From
Adaa attar 3ml The clean one · closest to a hotel lobby Bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and a white musk accord. The only genuinely clean, airy composition in our attar range, and the honest answer to most hotel-inspired requests ₹379
Nawaab attar 3ml Polished woods · expensive interiors White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron. For wooden-interior and quiet-luxury requests rather than clean-linen ones ₹399
Ameeri attar 3ml Warm sandalwood · heritage hospitality Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, saffron and soft oudh. Rose inside a warm resinous structure, closest to a grand Indian hotel atmosphere ₹385
Velour solid 15g White musk base · skin-close Toasted almond and whipped cream over a white musk base. Soft and skin-close, and sweeter than a hotel-clean scent, which we would rather say than imply ₹479
Sterling solid 15g Powdered musk · refined Almond nougat and white amber over powdered musk. Refined and velvety, and genuinely powdery, so not for anyone who has told us they dislike powder ₹469
Hotel Collection 15ml Rooms only · never skin Water-based fragrance for ultrasonic mist diffusers. Our own interpretation of hospitality scenting, for air rather than for people ₹299

Attars come in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml: Adaa ₹379 / ₹669 / ₹1,149; Ameeri ₹385 / ₹679 / ₹1,165; Mastani ₹389 / ₹685 / ₹1,179; Nawaab ₹399 / ₹699 / ₹1,199; the three-attar trio ₹1,055 / ₹1,859 / ₹3,189 against ₹1,173 / ₹2,063 / ₹3,543 bought singly. Solid body perfumes are 15g, alcohol-free, from ₹459. What we do not make as a skin fragrance: white tea, clean linen or cotton musk, lavender, vetiver, cedarwood, aquatic or marine, and pine. Several of those exist in our home range and are not assessed for skin. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

"I want to smell like a five-star hotel" is one of my favourite things a customer can say, because it tells me far more than a note list would. It tells me you want clean rather than sweet, quiet rather than loud, and expensive-feeling rather than obviously perfumed. That is a brief I can work with.

It also comes with two things I have to be straight with you about. The first is that I cannot sell you a hotel's scent. Those are proprietary compositions made for specific groups, and anybody offering you a reproduction is either guessing or doing something they should not. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel group. What I can do is work in the same fragrance families and say so honestly.

The second is harder on my own sales. Our home fragrances are not for your skin. Reed oil is assessed for evaporating from a reed in a room. The Hotel Collection is a water-based fragrance for an ultrasonic mist diffuser. Neither has been assessed for leave-on application to a person, and the exposure is completely different. I will not sell you one as the other, however much you like how it smells in your hallway.

And there are things we simply do not make. No lavender attar. No vetiver attar. No white tea, no clean linen, no cedarwood, no aquatic. Several of those scents live in our reed diffusers and stay there. If that is what you came for, I would rather tell you than sell you something adjacent and hope you do not notice. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the two routes?
Jasmine with sandalwood is warm, floral and grounded and reads as being somewhere specific. White musk is cool, abstract and placeless, reading as a cleanliness rather than a location. Both are quiet; only one has a geography.
Does SOSA make a jasmine-sandalwood attar?
Not as a single bottle. Ameeri at Rs 385 is sandalwood-led with Taif rose, Mastani at Rs 389 is jasmine-led with oudh, and Adaa at Rs 379 has a transparent jasmine sambac over a white musk accord.
Can I layer two attars to get the pairing?
You can try it. Ameeri under Mastani gives sandalwood beneath jasmine. But each attar was balanced to work alone, so layering is an experiment rather than a composition and the result can be very good or muddled depending on quantities and your skin.
Which one touches both ideas?
Adaa at Rs 379. It is the white musk route, so cool and abstract, but it already carries a transparent jasmine sambac, which gives it a floral thread the other musk-led options would not have.
Is layering a good idea at larger sizes?
No. Try it at 3ml each, where the mistake is cheap, and do not commit at 12ml until you know the combination works on your own skin in your own climate. The trio at Rs 1,055 is the cheaper way to experiment.

Formulation and use: SOSA attars are formulated with an oil carrier and no added ethanol, contain no intentionally added DEP, and are assessed as leave-on fine fragrance applied to skin at their actual selling concentration. Supplier IFRA conformity statements, declarable-allergen lists and the finished-product safety assessment are available per product on WhatsApp on +91 96192 18531; formula compositions and percentages are not disclosed. Reed diffuser oil and the water-based Hotel Collection fragrance are assessed for room use and are not assessed or sold for application to skin. SOSA does not describe its products as chemical-free, hypoallergenic or safe for everyone, publishes no longevity or hour figures, and makes no claim to reproduce any hotel, spa, resort or retail brand's proprietary fragrance. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel, hospitality or fashion group. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live collection pages.

General context: Fragrance safety standards set limits by product use category, so a composition assessed for diffusion in a room has not thereby been assessed for leave-on skin exposure.
