Founders ask this expecting a yes or a no, and the honest answer is a yes with an awkward clause attached. The fragrance should be identical everywhere. The machine settings almost certainly should not be, and that is the part nobody budgets for.
Quick answers — read this first
Should every branch of my hair clinic smell the same? Yes - one profile, everywhere, with no exceptions and no local favourites. A patient who visits two of your branches should meet the same clean, dry, cool register in both, in the same way they meet the same signage. But sameness is about what a person notices, not about what the dial says. Set two identical machines to the same intensity in two different buildings and you will get two different results, sometimes noticeably different. So the profile is fixed centrally and the setting is not.

Why does the same setting produce a different result? Because the machine is only half of it. The other half is the building: ceiling height, floor area, how the AC moves air, how much soft furnishing is in the room to hold fragrance and give it back, how often the front door opens, and where the unit sits relative to the supply air. You scent volume, not floor area, and a double-height reception eats capacity quickly. Two branches with the same square footage can behave completely differently once you look up.

What does matching branches cost me? Usually nothing extra in hardware. One SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 per site past roughly 1,500 sq ft, or one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 where a branch's patient-facing side is a single reception under about 750 sq ft. A smaller branch on a smaller machine is compliant, not downgraded. What it costs is an hour per branch, once, to set the level by walking in from outside.
The short answer
Short answer: yes in profile, and that is harder than it sounds. One clean, dry, cool register everywhere, fixed centrally. But the same machine at the same intensity in two different buildings produces two different results, so the thing you are matching is the perceived level, which has to be set branch by branch. One Vaayu (₹11,999) per site past 1,500 sq ft, or a Sukoon (₹1,899) below about 750 sq ft.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) per branch on the reception air path, with the intensity set separately in each building and the key-lock engaged afterwards, or one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) for a small branch.
Next step: send floor plans for two branches with ceiling heights and the AC type marked, and we will tell you why they will not behave the same and where each machine should sit - Ask for a clinic scenting plan.

Consistency of profile is a decision you make once. Consistency of level is a measurement you take in every building, separately.

Straight answer
Should every branch of a hair transplant clinic smell the same, and what does the same actually mean?
Yes to the profile, and that answer is easy. One clean, dry, cool register across the whole group - white tea, a dry light citrus, or soft woods - chosen once and never varied by branch, by city or by whoever is managing that site this year. A patient who consults at one of your clinics and has the procedure at another should meet the same air in both, in exactly the way they meet the same signage and the same paper on the desk. Local variation in fragrance is not personality; it is an unmanaged decision, and it is the single most common failure in a small chain. Where the answer gets awkward is what the same means in practice, because founders reasonably assume it means the same machine on the same setting, and it does not. The same unit at the same intensity in two different buildings produces two different results. A reception with a four-metre ceiling holds far more air than one with a nine-foot false ceiling at identical floor area, and you are scenting volume rather than square feet. A branch on a busy road with a door that opens forty times an hour loses fragrance constantly; a sealed lobby on the fourth floor does not. Ducted central AC distributes along a corridor in a way a wall-mounted split simply will not. A reception full of upholstery, curtains and rugs takes up fragrance and gives it back slowly; a hard-finished one does neither. Put the same SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999 into both of those receptions on setting three and you will have one branch that reads as barely there and one that a patient can name, which is the definition of too strong. So the practical rule is this: the constant is the fragrance, and the variable is the dial. Set the level in each building separately, by walking in from outside after a break and choosing the lowest setting at which you notice a clean room rather than a fragrance, then write the number down and engage the key-lock. The honest concession is that a genuinely small branch should not have the same machine at all - under about 750 sq ft of patient-facing space, a SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 delivers the matching perceived level, and that is compliance rather than a downgrade. The standing limits apply in every branch equally: this is an interior decision with no clinical or therapeutic claim, it sits alongside cleaning and ventilation and is never used to cover another smell, and procedure, recovery and photography rooms are unscented in all of them. Ask for a clinic scenting plan and send two floor plans - the differences will be obvious once they are side by side.
Same profile in every branch, chosen once. Not the same setting: identical machines at identical intensity behave differently in different buildings, so match the perceived level branch by branch and write each number down.
One per branch, set separately in each. SOSA Vaayu - waterless, adjustable intensity, rated to 1000m³, with app timers and a key-lock so the local setting holds. ₹11,999. A branch whose patient-facing side is under about 750 sq ft takes the Sukoon at ₹1,899 instead.

The machine, by branch size

A chain does not need one machine model to be consistent; it needs one profile and one perceived level. The machine follows each branch's own floor area and air path, exactly as it would for a single clinic.

SOSA Vaayu
Branches past about 1,500 sq ft
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. Adjustable intensity, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, under 38dB, auto-stop and key-lock, freestanding or wall and HVAC mountable. The adjustable intensity is the whole point here: it is how two unlike buildings end up reading the same.

SOSA Sukoon
Small branches - the matching machine, not a lesser one
SOSA Sukoon
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml hotel-inspired fragrances. Where a branch's patient-facing side is one reception under about 750 sq ft, this produces the same perceived level as a Vaayu does in a larger sibling, at a sixth of the price.
From ₹1,899
SOSA Vaayu
The branch machine for any site past 1,500 sq ft
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified - electrical and compliance marks, not medical approvals. Made in India.

Three reasons identical settings fail

None of these are exotic. They are the ordinary differences between two buildings, and together they are enough to make one setting wrong in one of them.

1
Look up before you compare floor plans
Two receptions of the same area can hold very different volumes
Coverage is quoted in cubic metres because that is what actually matters. A Vaayu is rated to 1000m³, which is described as roughly 2,000-3,000 sq ft precisely because the sq ft figure depends on what is above your head. A branch with a nine-foot false ceiling and a branch with a four-metre exposed soffit can have identical floor plans and behave nothing alike, and the second one will read weaker at the same setting. Double-height receptions, mezzanines and open stairwells all eat capacity. This is the difference founders miss most often, because they compare branches on a floor plan, which is the one drawing that hides it.
Tip: Write the ceiling height on the branch sheet next to the floor area. It explains most of the difference between two sites.

Account for the air, not just the room
Ducted AC, a split unit and a busy front door are three different buildings
How air moves decides how far fragrance travels and how fast it leaves. A branch on ducted central AC will carry a profile along a corridor and past closed cabins if the machine is mounted on the supply side; a branch on wall-mounted splits produces pockets instead, strong near the unit and thin at the far end. A door onto a busy street loses air constantly and needs a different setting from a sealed lobby on an upper floor. Soft furnishing matters too: heavy upholstery, curtains and rugs take up fragrance and release it slowly, so a fabric-rich branch holds a level a hard-finished one does not. None of this is fixed by buying a bigger machine.
Tip: Note the AC type on each branch sheet - ducted, cassette or split. It changes where the machine goes as much as the setting it runs at.

Match perception, then lock it
The target is what a patient meets at the door, not a number on a dial
Set each branch on its own. Walk in from outside after at least twenty minutes away, because your nose stops registering a room you have been sitting in, and choose the lowest setting at which you notice a clean room rather than a fragrance. That is the matched level, and it will be a different number in each building. Write it on the branch sheet, engage the key-lock, and set the timer to clinic hours so nobody is deciding anything daily. If a patient can identify the fragrance, it is too strong - in any branch, regardless of what the sheet says. And if a patient objects, staff reduce or switch off immediately rather than defending the setting.

The SOSA principle
Every branch should smell the same, which means every branch needs a different setting - because sameness is a property of what a patient notices, not of what the dial reads.
Copying the intensity from your first clinic to your second is the most reliable way to make them smell different.
SOSA Vaayu
One class of machine, per branch: SOSA Vaayu, waterless, rated to 1000m³, with adjustable intensity so two unlike buildings can be matched. ₹11,999.

The plan, branch by branch

Here is what is fixed everywhere and what is deliberately set locally, which is the whole answer in table form.

The SOSA plan
What is identical across branches, and what is not
The element What to do
The fragrance profile
Identical in every branch. One clean, dry, cool register, chosen once centrally, with no local variation and no second fragrance anywhere.
SOSA VaayuThe machine class
Fixed by branch size, not by seniority. Past 1,500 sq ft, one waterless cold-air unit per site on the reception air path.
SOSA SukoonA small branch
Takes the smaller machine at ₹1,899 and reaches the same perceived level. Compliant, not downgraded.
The intensity setting
Set separately in each building by walking in from outside, then written on the branch sheet and locked. Never copied between sites.
The zones
Identical everywhere: entrance, reception, waiting and corridors. Procedure, recovery and photography rooms unscented in every branch.
The check
Someone walks in from outside once a quarter, at each site, and compares against the sheet rather than against memory.

The written procedure that makes this survive a year is set out in how to standardise ambient fragrance across a multi-city chain. If the branches also differ in size and air-conditioning, the practical side of holding a level across them is in keeping fragrance consistent across clinics with different sizes and AC systems. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

SOSA Vaayu
The feature that holds the match: A key-lock, so the level you set in that building is the level three months later. ₹11,999.
One profile, one perceived level, many dials
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 has adjustable intensity and a key-lock, which is how two unlike branches end up reading the same at the door.

The fastest way to make two clinics smell different is to set them both to the same number and assume the job is done.

The SOSA hair-clinic specification

Two machines cover almost every branch, and the split between them is decided by each site's own floor area and air path rather than by any wish to standardise on one box. Both are dry enough to sit on the public side of a building that does surgical work. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Fix the profile centrally, set the intensity in each building, and record both. The standing limits apply equally in every branch: fragrance here is an interior decision with no clinical or therapeutic claim of any kind; it works alongside cleaning and ventilation, never instead of them, and is never used to cover another smell; and procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms stay unscented at every site, with the treating clinician's judgement overriding the plan in their own rooms. Bulk pricing, corporate invoicing and multi-site terms are not published by SOSA and should be confirmed before ordering for several branches. A note from Sonal

The question is usually asked as a branding question and answered, by me, as a physics question. Should every branch carry the same fragrance? Yes, obviously, and I would treat any local exception the way you would treat a branch that redrew the logo. But founders then order three identical machines, set them all to the same number, and are puzzled six weeks later when one clinic is described as lovely and another as strong. Nothing went wrong with the fragrance. The buildings are different.

What you are matching is perception at the door, and perception is produced by the room as much as by the machine. Ceiling height is the biggest single variable and the one a floor plan hides. Then the air conditioning - ducted, cassette or split, each distributing completely differently. Then how often the front door opens, and how much fabric is in the reception to take up fragrance and give it back. Two branches of identical square footage can need settings two steps apart, and the branch that needs less is not doing anything wrong.

On hardware: one machine per site, chosen by that site's size. Past about 1,500 sq ft, a Vaayu at ₹11,999 with the key-lock engaged. Under 750 sq ft, a Sukoon at ₹1,899, which in a small reception reaches exactly the same perceived level and is not a lesser branch for it. Procedure, recovery and photography rooms get nothing at all in any of them. Terms for ordering several units at once are not published, so ask us rather than assuming. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Should every branch of my hair clinic smell the same?
Yes in profile. One clean, dry, cool register across the whole group, chosen once and never varied by branch or city. But sameness means the same perceived level at the door, not the same number on the dial. The same machine at the same intensity in two different buildings produces two different results, so the profile is fixed centrally and the intensity is set separately in each site and written down.
Why do two branches with the same floor area smell different?
Usually ceiling height, because coverage is a question of volume rather than floor area and a floor plan hides the one dimension that matters. After that: whether the air conditioning is ducted, cassette or split, how often the front door opens onto the street, and how much upholstery, carpet and curtain is in the reception to take up fragrance and release it slowly. Any of those can shift a branch a full setting.
Can a smaller branch use a cheaper machine and still be consistent?
Yes, and it should. Where a branch's patient-facing side is a single reception under about 750 sq ft, a SOSA Sukoon at Rs 1,899 reaches the same perceived level that a SOSA Vaayu at Rs 11,999 reaches in a larger sibling. Consistency is about what a patient notices when they walk in, not about every site owning identical equipment. A Vaayu in a small reception would simply run well below what it is rated for.
Who should set the level in each branch?
One named person, once per site, walking in from outside after at least twenty minutes away - you cannot judge a room you have been sitting in. Choose the lowest setting at which you notice a clean room rather than a fragrance, record it on the branch sheet, engage the key-lock and set the timer to that branch's clinic hours. Then re-check by walking in once a quarter rather than relying on memory.
Does the zoning change from branch to branch?
No. The zoning is the one thing that is identical everywhere: entrance, reception, waiting lounge and corridors carry the profile, and procedure and graft rooms, post-procedure and recovery areas and photography or documentation rooms stay completely unscented rather than lightly scented. Consultation cabins take only whatever faint drift arrives from reception. The treating clinician's judgement overrides the plan in their own room at any site.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper ventilation, cleaning and infection control and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a patient's decision or any commercial outcome. Clinical areas including procedure, post-procedure and photography rooms are left unscented, and the treating clinician's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
