Fragrance frames the meal — it never competes with the food. Which means, more than any other room, the dining room is about timing: scent before, recede during, return after. The three diffuser types differ most in how well they let you do exactly that.

A reed is the quietest way to keep a dining room pleasant. No power, no noise, no humidity, and an output so low it sits right where dining scent should — barely there. Its weakness is precisely its charm: you cannot switch it up for guests or down for the meal. But because it is already faint, that rarely matters. For a small, separate dining room, a 50ml reed on the sideboard is the whole answer.

The Vaayu is the answer when the dining table lives in a big open-plan space, or when you want the timing to happen without you.
