Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated September 2026
Write the day out honestly and the shape of it is startling. Two trips of about fifteen minutes each, and twenty-two and a half hours in which the car is a locked metal box with nobody in it. Thirty minutes of that day has a human being in the cabin. Most car fragrance is sold on the strength of what it does across the other twenty-two, and the buyer nods along, because persistence sounds like quality. It is quality - it is just aimed at an empty seat. The honest question for this pattern is what happens twice a day for fifteen minutes.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should fragrance be prioritised for occupied periods rather than all-day persistence? For a car driven twice a day, yes, and SOSA publishes both options at the same price. A 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays, and exists only when you use it. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously, which for this pattern means most of its output goes into an empty bay.

Is a hanging wasted on a car that is parked most of the day? Wasted is too strong, because you are not paying more for it - the hanging and the spray are the same price for the same scent. What is true is that it works to a schedule set by the calendar rather than by you, so a two-trip day collects a small share of what it produces. Some owners want exactly that and never touch a bottle again.

How long does a bottle last on two short trips a day? That is arithmetic you can do. A 10ml is 100 sprays. One spray before the first trip only is the published 3 months and above at one a day; one before each trip is 50 days at two a day. The distance covered does not enter the calculation at all.
The short answer
Short answer: If the car is parked twenty-two hours and driven twice, fragrance the two trips rather than the whole day. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, or 3 months and above at one a day and 50 days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is in the car or not.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, spent on the thirty occupied minutes rather than the twenty-two parked hours.
Why: A two-trip day means the cabin has a person in it for about half an hour. Continuous output is aimed at the rest of the day, which nobody is there for.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
My hatchback stays parked for about twenty-two hours on a normal day and is driven for only two short trips. Does it make sense to prioritise fragrance during the occupied periods instead of paying for all-day persistence?
Yes, and once you have written the day down the decision almost makes itself. Two fifteen-minute trips is half an hour of occupied cabin in twenty-four. Whatever you buy is therefore being judged on about two per cent of its working life, and the remaining ninety-eight per cent is a parked car. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and it is published at 100 sprays, set out on the pages as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. For this pattern that is unusually easy to map: spray before the first trip only and a bottle is a three-month bottle; spray before both and it is a fifty-day one. The alternative is the 12ml hanging at exactly the same price for the same scent, running 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass with a stopper you loosen for stronger or tighten for subtler. It is not the wrong answer - it is the answer for somebody who would rather the cabin simply be a certain way and never think about it again, and it is spending most of its output on the parked hours by design. Two things this page will not pretend. The car being parked all day is not a powertrain matter, and SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no claim that fragrance behaves differently in any of them. And fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, so if a car that sits still all day has developed a smell it did not have before, that is a question about the car - the mats, the air-conditioning, something left in it - and not one a bottle should be asked to settle. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Half an hour occupied, twenty-two hours parked. Aim the fragrance at the half hour.
The quick version: a 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 when you want to decide journey by journey - it holds 100 sprays, which is three months and above at one a day. The 12ml hanging is the same price and runs 4 to 6 weeks on its own, with the stopper to adjust it. The 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays, once you know your rate.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

Twenty-two hours parked, two short trips - three things that follow

This pattern is common and badly served, because the whole category is built to advertise what happens while nobody is watching. Three things actually settle it, and the first is just counting.

01
Two per cent
Half an hour of occupancy in a twenty-four hour day
Write out a real day: out for fifteen minutes in the morning, back; out for fifteen in the evening, back. That is thirty occupied minutes, and twenty-two and a half hours of parked car. Every headline about duration is a claim about the second number. It is not a false claim, it is simply a claim about a period when the seat is empty. The thing you are actually buying is what the cabin is like for two quarter-hours. A format you operate delivers precisely that; a continuous one delivers that plus a great deal nobody collects. Neither is a trick. They are different shapes and this day has a very clear shape.
Tip: Persistence is a virtue measured while nobody is in the car.
02
The division
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and a two-trip day makes that easy to map
This is the only usage figure SOSA publishes for the sprays and it answers the question directly. A 10ml holds 100 sprays; the 50ml holds 500 and is published at about a year and more, at ₹1,499. The published working is 3 months and above at one spray a day, 50 days at two a day. A two-trip day sits exactly on that boundary, which makes it one of the few patterns where the choice is genuinely binary: one spray a day or two. Decide which of those two you are before you buy, because it is the difference between a bottle you replace four times a year and one you replace seven.
03
Long parking is a real variable
Where the car sits matters - what it runs on does not
Twenty-two hours of parking is a genuine fragrance variable and it deserves to be taken seriously on its own terms. A cabin shut for that long is a cabin nobody has ventilated, and whether it is warm or cool when you open it depends on whether the bay is covered, which is a question about the building rather than the car. What is not a variable is the drivetrain: SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no powertrain claim of any kind, because a fragrance sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it and that volume is indifferent to what moves it. Nor is charging a fragrance variable - the relevant fact is simply that the car is shut, which would be equally true of a petrol car in the same bay.
Tip: The bay is part of the answer. The badge on the boot is not.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.

Work it out in this order
Four lines to write down before you choose anything
  1. Count the occupied minutes in a normal day. For two short trips it is about thirty.
  2. Decide: one spray a day, or two? That is 3 months and above, or 50 days.
  3. Look at where the car parks. Covered or open changes how it feels on opening.
  4. Then choose spray or hanging. Identical price, so pick on habit alone.
The SOSA principle
Buy for the thirty minutes somebody is in the car. Everything produced during the other twenty-two hours is output with no audience.
Unless you would genuinely rather never think about it, in which case the continuous format is worth its unused hours and costs no more.

The two formats, and which one a two-trip day argues for

With both formats at one price per scent, the scent itself is a free choice. For a pattern of two short trips, a great many owners land on the softer end simply because there is no long stretch to grow into: Jasmine at ₹449 and Lavender at ₹479, with Lavender published as the softest of the nine. The bright ones are Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499 and Sea Breeze at ₹509. The deep end is Sandalwood at ₹479, Vetiver at ₹509 and Oud at ₹509, and Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only with no hanging version at all.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to run a two-trip day, and where each one falls down
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
One spray before the first trip only The published 3 months and above at one a day, from a 100-spray bottle. It falls down in the evening, when the cabin is whatever twelve hours of parking left it and you have already decided not to touch the bottle.
One spray before each trip Fifty days at two a day, published. Both occupied stretches covered on purpose. It falls down on replacement rhythm - seven bottles a year rather than four - which is a fact rather than a fault.
A 12ml hanging and nothing else Same price as the spray, 4 to 6 weeks continuous, stopper loosened or tightened to set the level. It falls down on the arithmetic of this page, since the great majority of its work happens in an empty bay.
Nothing at all until you have watched a week Genuinely on the table. Two trips a day is a small amount of occupied time, and some owners find they want the cabin plain. It falls down only if you already know you want the car to be a certain way.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Two practical notes for a car that mostly sits. The hanging is refillable - 15ml refills are ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in a refillable glass bottle - while there is no spray refill at all, and Orange Blossom has no refill in either form. And the whole range is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, which is a formulation statement about stability and not a claim that any scent performs differently in one season or another. On presentation, if this is a gift: custom label or logo on product is the only branding option - no custom box, no printed sleeve, no insert card.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

The SOSA range, sorted by how much it asks of the person receiving it
Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth buying car fragrance if the car is parked most of the day?
Yes, but buy for the occupied minutes rather than for the parked hours. Two short trips is about thirty minutes a day inside the cabin. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day or 50 days at two, and it produces nothing at all while the car sits.
Does a hanging get used up while the car is parked?
It runs continuously, and SOSA publishes 4 to 6 weeks per 12ml bottle. The bottle is not counting journeys, so a parked car and a busy one work through it at the same pace. That is the trade, and since the hanging costs the same as the spray for the same scent, it is a trade of habit rather than money.
Should I spray before both trips or just the morning one?
Either is published and the difference is straightforward. One spray a day is 3 months and above from a 100-spray bottle; two a day is 50 days. Decide which you actually want before you buy, because the replacement rhythm that follows is what people usually mean when they say a bottle did or did not last.
Does it matter that the car is electric?
No. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and makes no powertrain claim, because a fragrance sits in a closed volume of air with a person in it. What genuinely differs between two owners is parking, occupied hours, ventilation and how many people use the vehicle.
The car has started smelling of something after sitting all day. Will fragrance help?
Fragrance adds a scent; it does not remove one. A car that has developed a smell it did not have before is telling you something about itself - the mats, the air-conditioning, water after rain, something left in the boot. Find the source and deal with it, and then use fragrance because you want the cabin to smell of jasmine or oud.

SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
