How SOSA works
Four attars, three sizes, one fixed set - and an honest account of what each one is for
The trio is fixed
Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. Adaa is not in it - that one is bought separately.
Alcohol-free by formulation
The attars are alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist. The inspired line is an alcohol-based spray - a different thing, and we say so.
Made in India
Hand-blended in small batches. Cruelty-free and vegan.
Composed by a trained perfumer
Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained, composes the whole range.
A portion funds girl-child education
Part of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
We will tell you not to buy
Four attars in two registers is a house point of view, not a discovery kit. Where that is the wrong answer, these guides say so.

Founder Diaries · Attar Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 9 min read Updated September 2026
Your worry is well founded, and worth taking seriously rather than talking you out of. Unused bottles are the most common outcome in fragrance gifting, and the reason is almost never that the scent was bad. It is that the recipient had no idea when they were supposed to wear it. A decade of one style is a decade of knowing exactly what you smell like on a Tuesday, and anything that unsettles that answer tends to stay in the box.
Quick answers — read this first
Is a fragrance set a safe gift for someone who has worn one style for years? It can be, provided the set stays inside the style she already wears. The SOSA three-attar set is ₹1,055 for three 3ML bottles - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani - and all three are rose, oudh and sandalwood scents. For somebody whose decade has been floral or rich, that is familiar ground presented three ways.

What makes a gifted perfume go unused? Usually the recipient cannot place it. They do not know which occasion it belongs to, so it never gets picked up. A scent that sits close to what somebody already wears has an obvious slot from day one, which is why adjacency matters more than novelty for a long-term wearer.

What is the difference between an attar and the perfume she already owns? An attar is alcohol-free concentrated oil rolled on at the wrist rather than sprayed. SOSA's four are Adaa, Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab. It is a different way of wearing fragrance rather than a different category of smell, which makes it a smaller change than it sounds.
The short answer
Short answer: After ten years the safest experiment changes one variable - and the gentler one to change is how the fragrance is worn rather than what it smells like.
The pick: the three-attar set at ₹1,055 where her decade has been floral, rose or rich - a familiar register in an unfamiliar format, which is one change rather than two.
Honest note: the set is fixed and all three scents sit in one register, so it is depth rather than contrast. Adaa, the one bright scent, is not in it.
The trio, and the alternative - at a glanceThe trio is one register: rose, oud, sandalwood. Three eveningsFixed set ₹1,055 · Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani · Adaa not includedWant contrast? Three chosen 3ML from ₹1,153 - three boxesAlcohol-free oil · worn at the wrist
SOSA's three-attar set is a fixed pairing of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani at Rs 1,055 for three 3ML bottles. All three sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals, built for evenings. If what you want is contrast rather than depth, the route is three 3ML singles chosen yourself, from Rs 1,153, which is the only way to include Adaa, the one bright scent in the range. Those arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set.
Straight answer
How do you give somebody new perfume after ten years of the same one?
By changing one thing about it, and letting everything else stay where it is.

The direct answer: the three-attar set at ₹1,055 for three 3ML bottles. Ameeri - Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh. Nawaab - white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron. Mastani - night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh.

The change here is the format, not the family. These are alcohol-free oils rolled on at the wrist rather than sprayed. For somebody who has worn one style of floral or rich perfume for a decade, that is a genuinely new experience of fragrance while the smell itself stays in territory she recognises. One new variable instead of two. A scent that is both an unfamiliar family and an unfamiliar format has two reasons to be left in the drawer.

Check the register honestly. All three of these sit in one place - rose, oudh, sandalwood, heavy florals, built for evenings. That makes them adjacent to a floral or rich decade and completely wrong for a decade of bright, clean, citrusy perfume. If it is the second, Adaa - bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac - is the one bright attar we make, ₹379 at 3ML, and it is not in the set.

On the size. 3ML is small deliberately: an experiment she is not obliged to finish is an experiment she is more likely to start. The same three at 6ML is ₹1,859. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: change the format and keep the family, because a gift that is unfamiliar in two ways at once is the one that stays in the box.
The three-attar set is ₹1,055 for three 3ML bottles, ₹1,859 at 6ML. It is a fixed pairing - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani - and all three sit in the same register, so it is depth rather than contrast. Worth knowing before you order: Adaa is not in it.

Why new bottles go unworn, and it is rarely the smell

Three things decide whether a bottle gets used by somebody with a long-settled habit, and the smell is only the third of them.

1
One variable
Familiar smell, unfamiliar format
Ten years of one style is a solved question, and a gift that asks her to reopen it is asking for effort. So change one thing. Keep the register she already lives in and change how the fragrance is worn - oil at the wrist rather than a spray from a bottle. She gets something genuinely new to try without having to decide whether she still likes what she smells like. If instead you keep the format and change the family, that is also one variable, and also fine. What fails is changing both at once.
Tip: New smell or new format. Pick one, not both.
2
Placement
A bottle gets used when she knows where it goes
Unworn gifts are usually unplaced gifts. She opens something, cannot tell whether it is a daytime thing or an evening thing or a special-occasion thing, puts it somewhere safe, and that is that. The set has an answer built in, and it is worth saying out loud when you hand it over: these three are evening scents. One sentence removes the ambiguity that leaves bottles unopened, and it costs nothing.
3
Scale
Three small bottles ask less than one large one
A large bottle of something unfamiliar carries an obligation to like it, and people feel that. At 3ML nothing is being asked of her. She can try one, ignore the other two for a month, come back to them or not. If any of the three becomes something she reaches for, a 12ML of that one is ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 and by then it is not a guess. That sequence - small first, large later - is how a long-settled wearer actually adds something.
Tip: Small bottles carry no obligation. That is precisely why they get opened.
The SOSA principle
Gifts go unworn because nobody knows when to wear them, not because they smell wrong.
Which means the fix is placement and one change at a time, rather than a braver choice of scent.

Changing one thing at a time

Name the style she has worn for ten years, then change exactly one thing about it.

The SOSA attar edit
What to buy after a decade of one style
Option Who it suits, and what it costs
A decade of florals, rose or rich perfume The three-attar set at ₹1,055. Familiar register, unfamiliar format, three small experiments.
A decade of bright, clean or citrusy perfume Not the set. Adaa at ₹379, the one bright attar, bought on its own or with two others from ₹1,153.
She is unlikely to try anything new at all One bottle, not three. Mastani at 6ML is ₹685 and asks almost nothing of her.
A roll-on would not suit her hands A solid perfume tin, ₹500. Balm in metal, nothing to spill and nothing to leak in a bag.

If the worry is less about waste and more about seeming to criticise her taste, Without implying they change is the version of this question that addresses the implication directly. And for the underlying rule about how far a gift should travel from somebody's existing taste, Match it or extend it sets out the whole argument. The set is where this one usually ends.

Tell us what they already wear
Send us the bottle they have worn for years, or just how they describe it - bright, heavy, sweet, clean. If the fixed set is the wrong register for that person, we will say so and tell you which three to pick instead.
Gift enquiry
The bottles that go unused are not the wrong smell. They are the ones nobody told her when to wear.

The SOSA attar edit

Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist, hand-blended in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by what you actually know about the person's taste, which is what decides whether a fixed set or three chosen bottles is the right answer.

The SOSA attar edit
Five answers by what you actually know about their taste - from ₹1,055 to ₹1,859
Option Best for What it is, honestly From
The three-attar set, 3ML x 3 They already wear rose, oud or big florals Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani - one register, three evenings. Fixed: Adaa is not in it ₹1,055
Three chosen 3ML singles You want contrast, not depth Any three of the four, chosen by you. The only route that includes Adaa. Three boxes, not one set ₹1,153
One 12ML of a scent you are sure of You know exactly what they wear A size they finish rather than sample, when guessing is not required ₹1,149
The three-attar set, 6ML x 3 The same three, in a size that lasts Where the trio is right and 3ML would run out too quickly ₹1,859
Solid perfume tin 15g When a roll-on is not right Solid balm in a metal tin - nothing to spill, nothing to leak in a bag ₹500

Four honest notes. The three-attar set is fixed - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, in one size tier at a time. Adaa, the bergamot and cardamom one, is not in it, so if the brighter style is what the person wears, that means buying Adaa separately. All three trio scents sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals - so the set is depth rather than contrast; if contrast is the point, choose three 3ML singles yourself and know that they arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set, because there is no build-your-own set on the store. SOSA's attars are alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist; the designer-inspired line is an alcohol-based spray and a different product entirely, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any fragrance house it names. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

The hardest fragrance gift is not the one where you know nothing. It is the one where you know just enough. You can name the bottle they have worn for six years. You also know that buying it again is not a gift, it is a refill - and that buying something wildly different is a coin toss with your money on it.

So people reach for a set, and most fragrance sets quietly mislead. They are sold as exploration when they are really one house's single idea, broken into three bottles. I would rather tell you what ours actually is. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani are three evenings, not three directions. Rose, oud, sandalwood, saffron, night jasmine. If the person you are buying for already lives in that register, the set is genuinely good and the discount is real. If they wear something bright and fresh, it is the wrong set, and no amount of my writing changes that.

The answer in that case is not a different set. It is three bottles you pick yourself - and yes, that costs about a hundred rupees more than the fixed three, and yes, they arrive in three boxes rather than one. I would rather you knew both of those things before you ordered than after. Adaa is the only bright one we make, and it is not in the set. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

Is it worth giving perfume to somebody who has worn the same one for ten years?
Yes, if you change one thing rather than everything. An alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist is a different experience of fragrance even when the scent itself sits in a register she knows, and that single change is far more likely to be tried than an unfamiliar smell in an unfamiliar format.
How do I stop the gift from sitting unopened?
Tell her what it is for. Most unworn bottles are unworn because the recipient could not place them - daytime or evening, everyday or special. The three attars in the set are evening scents, and saying that when you hand it over does most of the work.
Are the three scents in the set similar to each other?
They are. Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab all use oudh, sandalwood and rose materials and all three are built for evenings. The set is depth rather than variety, which is exactly why it suits somebody with a settled style and would not suit somebody looking for three unrelated things.
What if her long-standing perfume is light and fresh?
Then the set is the wrong direction and buying it anyway would be the mistake this page is trying to prevent. Adaa is the bright attar - bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk - at ₹379 for 3ML, and it is not part of the set, so it is bought separately.
Is 3ML enough for somebody to form an opinion?
Comfortably. It is several weeks of occasional evening wear, which is more than enough to know whether she reaches for it. If she does, a 12ML of that one attar is ₹1,149 to ₹1,199 and is a better second purchase than a large bottle bought on a guess.

SOSA does not sort fragrance by the gender of the wearer - every scent is recommended here on what a person has said they like.

SOSA attars, specified: alcohol-free concentrated fragrance oil in a roll-on bottle, applied at the wrist rather than sprayed. Four scents: Adaa (bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk - the one bright scent in the range), Ameeri (Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh), Mastani (night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh) and Nawaab (white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron). Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab share oudh, sandalwood and rose materials and sit in one register; Adaa is the outlier.

Prices verified 28 September 2026: 3ML ₹379 (Adaa) / ₹385 (Ameeri) / ₹389 (Mastani) / ₹399 (Nawaab); 6ML ₹669 / ₹679 / ₹685 / ₹699; 12ML ₹1,149 / ₹1,165 / ₹1,179 / ₹1,199.
