Founder Diaries · Attars & Perfume Oils

If your eau de parfum is gone by mid-morning, you're not imagining it and it's not your fault. Some skin simply burns through alcohol-based sprays fast — and no amount of re-spraying fixes the underlying problem. The honest answer is yes: for longevity, a concentrated perfume oil is very likely to outlast your EDP, often by hours.
Quick answers — read this first
Why does my EDP only last three hours? Usually a mix of dry skin and a high alcohol content. Alcohol evaporates quickly and carries the fragrance off with it; dry skin has nothing for the scent to grip. Some people's chemistry just accelerates this.
Will a perfume oil actually last longer? For most people, clearly yes. An attar is concentrated oil with almost no alcohol, so it releases slowly and clings to skin — commonly wearing two to four times longer than the same person's EDP.
Which SOSA oil should a short-EDP person try first? Nawaab (from ₹399) for maximum grip, or Ameeri (from ₹385) if you want warmth over oud. Both are built on heavy sandalwood/oud bases that hold on difficult skin.
The short answer
Short answer: Yes — switch to an oil. A concentrated attar like
Nawaab (from ₹399) or
Ameeri (from ₹385) has almost no alcohol, so it evaporates far more slowly than your EDP and grips onto skin that eats sprays. On moisturised pulse points, most people who get three hours from a spray get a full working day from an oil.
Best pick: for longevity and projection, the
Nawaab attar (oud & saffron, from ₹399); for a fresh, subtle daily signature,
Adaa (from ₹379). Every attar is a 3/6/12ML roll-on.

Straight answer
Should I abandon my EDP entirely, or supplement it?
Try the oil first, on the same skin: get a 3ML Nawaab or Ameeri and wear it on a normal day. If your EDP dies at hour three, watch where the oil is at hour six and eight — the difference is usually obvious.
Fix the skin, not just the scent: moisturise pulse points before applying. Dry skin is half the reason your EDP vanishes; an oil on prepped skin holds dramatically better.
Or layer both: if you love your EDP's opening, keep it — apply it, then dab the oil on the same points. The oil acts as an anchor that slows the whole thing down.
Made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Three-hour EDP is usually dry skin plus alcohol. A concentrated oil solves both — less alcohol to flash off, more grip on the skin. Try Nawaab or Ameeri.
Why oils outlast sprays on difficult skin
1
The alcohol problem
Sprays evaporate; oils don't
SOSA Nawaab · White Oud & SaffronFrom ₹399 An EDP is mostly alcohol, which is designed to flash off and diffuse the scent into the air — great for a burst of projection, bad for longevity. An
attar is the reverse: an oil base with almost no alcohol, so it stays on the skin and releases slowly for hours instead of minutes.
Tip: The same reason oils last longer is why they project less at first — you're trading a loud opening for a long life.
2
Skin that eats scent
Grip beats spray on dry skin
SOSA Ameeri · Rose & SandalwoodFrom ₹385 If your skin runs dry or warm, it burns through sprays fast. Oil binds to skin far better —
Ameeri's sandalwood base is particularly good at gripping and holding. Combine it with a moisturiser and you've addressed both halves of the three-hour problem.
Tip: Warm, oily skin actually holds oils beautifully — the format is a natural match for skin that struggles with sprays.
3
Layering
Keep the EDP you love
Zaffran EDP · saffron-amberFrom ₹599 You don't have to choose. Spray your EDP for its opening, then dab an oil on the same pulse points. The oil slows the evaporation of the whole composition and leaves something on your skin long after the spray would have gone. SOSA's
EDP line exists too if you want a spray that's built to last.
Tip: Match the families — a warm EDP layers best over a warm oil like Ameeri; a fresh one over Adaa.
Maximum longevity & projection SOSA Nawaab From ₹399 Nawaab (White Oud & Saffron) is the powerhouse of the range - a deep, resinous oud-saffron base that holds on skin for hours and projects for the first stretch of an evening. If longevity and presence are your priority, start here. Sizes 3ML (₹399), 6ML (₹699), 12ML (₹1,199). See Nawaab →
What actually happens on your skin in those three hours
When you spray an EDP, the alcohol carrier evaporates within minutes, throwing the top notes into the air — that's the strong opening you love. What's left is a thin film of fragrance oils sitting on your skin. If your skin is dry, there's little for that film to bond to, so it evaporates quickly too. If your skin is warm, it evaporates faster still. Three hours later, the volatile heart notes have gone and the base — which was only a small fraction of a spray to begin with — is barely detectable. Nothing is wrong with you; the physics simply isn't in your favour.
A concentrated oil changes the maths. There's far more fragrance material per drop and almost no alcohol to carry it off, so instead of a burst-and-fade you get a slow, steady release. The base notes that vanished in your EDP are the main event in an attar, and they're the ones built to last. Switch the format and you switch the whole longevity curve — which is why so many people who thought they 'couldn't hold a fragrance' discover they hold oils perfectly well.

The SOSA principle
A three-hour EDP isn't a fragrance problem — it's a format problem. Change the format and the same person suddenly 'holds' scent beautifully.
Concentrated oil on moisturised skin is the honest fix for spray that vanishes by lunch.
Fresh, subtle & office-friendly SOSA Adaa From ₹379 Adaa (Bergamot + Cardamom + Jasmine Sambac) is the daytime-grace choice - clean, fresh, and sitting close to the skin, so it lasts without filling a shared room. The right pick for AC offices, hot-humid days and anyone who prefers a quiet signature. Sizes 3ML (₹379), 6ML (₹669), 12ML (₹1,149). See Adaa →
I've lost count of the customers who thought their skin killed perfume. It didn't. It just needed oil instead of alcohol.

How to read this box: attars are concentrated perfume oils, so as a family they wear
longer and closer to the skin than alcohol sprays - you trade some room-filling projection for longevity and a refined, intimate trail. For the most presence,
Nawaab (oud & saffron) projects hardest and lasts longest; for a clean daytime signature that won't overwhelm a shared cabin,
Adaa is the pick. Every attar comes as a 3ML pocket roll-on (from ₹379) that's effortless to reapply, plus 6ML and 12ML. Scent behaves differently on every person and in every climate, so give it ten minutes on your skin before you judge it, and layer on pulse points for more strength. Everything is made in India; a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Why a roll-on oil Long wear, easy reapply From ₹379 An attar is concentrated perfume oil: it wears longer and closer to the skin than an alcohol spray, and the roll-on format is spill-proof and pocketable - the 3ML slips into a bag for touch-ups. Oils lean toward longevity and intimacy over big room-filling projection; for maximum projection, layer or choose the deeper Nawaab. Shop the range →
A note from Sonal
Everything is made and supported from Pune, and a part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. You get a fragrance that lasts; a girl gets a classroom. That equation has always felt right to me.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose the strong opening I like about my EDP?
A little — oils open softer and closer than sprays. If that opening burst matters to you, layer: spray the EDP, then anchor it with an oil dab. You keep the loud start and gain the long finish.
How much longer will an oil actually last on me?
It varies with skin and climate, but people who get three hours from a spray very often get eight or more from an oil on moisturised skin. The only real test is wearing one on your own skin for a day.
Which should a first-time oil buyer get?
Start with a 3ML
Nawaab (₹399) for maximum staying power, or the
trio (₹1,055) to compare Nawaab, Ameeri and Mastani on your own skin over a week.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Fragrance performance - longevity, projection and sillage - depends on the perfume, but also on your skin type, body chemistry, the weather and how much you apply, so descriptions here are honest guidance, not guarantees. Attars are concentrated perfume oils: they generally wear longer and closer to the skin than alcohol-based EDPs, trading some projection for longevity and intimacy. Always test on skin and give a fragrance ten minutes to settle before judging it; patch-test if you have sensitive skin, and keep oils away from the eyes.
