Name the smell before you treat it
Walk in cold, twice a day, and write down what you actually smell
You cannot smell your own clinic after ten minutes in it, so do this properly. Step outside for five minutes and walk back in at 9am, then again at 4pm, and write down the first word that arrives. Check that the clinical rooms and corridors genuinely exchange their air rather than recirculating it, that extract fans actually run, and that a procedure room door is not standing open onto the waiting area after a clean. Then look at the schedule: a deep clean finishing ten minutes before the first appointment puts the strongest chemical note of the day into the air exactly when the first patients arrive. Move it to the end of the evening, or early enough that the air has turned over before the doors open. Then the ambience layers, scent last

A clinic that feels clinical is rarely only a smell problem.
