How SOSA works
Four attars, three sizes, one fixed set - and an honest account of what each one is for
The trio is fixed
Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani. Adaa is not in it - that one is bought separately.
Alcohol-free by formulation
The attars are alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist. The inspired line is an alcohol-based spray - a different thing, and we say so.
Made in India
Hand-blended in small batches. Cruelty-free and vegan.
Composed by a trained perfumer
Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained, composes the whole range.
A portion funds girl-child education
Part of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
We will tell you not to buy
Four attars in two registers is a house point of view, not a discovery kit. Where that is the wrong answer, these guides say so.

Founder Diaries · Attar Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated September 2026
You can absolutely build a gift around what somebody tolerates rather than what they adore - that is a better brief than most people manage. The catch here is arithmetic rather than principle. Before you choose a format, count how many bottles survive the sentence he already said, because a set of three requires three survivors and this brief does not leave three.
Quick answers — read this first
Is the SOSA three-attar set suitable for someone who finds oud too heavy? No. Ameeri carries soft oudh under Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, Mastani carries oudh under night-blooming jasmine and damask rose, and Nawaab is white royal oud outright. All three of the scents in the fixed set are built on the material he named, so the set is the wrong purchase however good its price is.

Which SOSA attar suits somebody who likes fresh and woody fragrance? Adaa is the only one that starts anywhere near fresh - bergamot and green cardamom over jasmine sambac and white musk, ₹379 at 3ML, ₹669 at 6ML and ₹1,149 at 12ML. Being accurate about it: it is bright rather than woody. There is no fresh-woody attar in this range, and the honest thing is to say so rather than to stretch a description.

Can I still give him three bottles? You can buy three 3ML singles yourself at ₹1,153 to ₹1,173, and they arrive as three separate boxes rather than one gift set. But two of any three you pick will carry oudh, so you would be spending most of the budget on the material he ruled out. One larger bottle of the scent that survives is the better use of the same money.
The short answer
Short answer: Oud is too heavy removes three of the four attars in one sentence, so there is one survivor - and one survivor is a bottle, not a set of three.
The pick: Adaa on its own - ₹379 at 3ML, ₹669 at 6ML, ₹1,149 at 12ML. It is the only bottle the brief leaves standing, and there is no fresh-woody attar here to pair it with.
Honest note: the set is fixed and all three scents sit in one register, so it is depth rather than contrast. Adaa, the one bright scent, is not in it.
The trio, and the alternative - at a glanceThe trio is one register: rose, oud, sandalwood. Three eveningsFixed set ₹1,055 · Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani · Adaa not includedWant contrast? Three chosen 3ML from ₹1,153 - three boxesAlcohol-free oil · worn at the wrist
SOSA's three-attar set is a fixed pairing of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani at Rs 1,055 for three 3ML bottles. All three sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals, built for evenings. If what you want is contrast rather than depth, the route is three 3ML singles chosen yourself, from Rs 1,153, which is the only way to include Adaa, the one bright scent in the range. Those arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set.
Straight answer
He finds oud too heavy but likes fresh and woody - what should I actually buy?
One bottle, in a size he will finish. Here is the working, because the working is the whole answer.

Run his sentence against the four. Ameeri - Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh. Out. Mastani - night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh. Out. Nawaab - white royal oud with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron, the most concentrated statement in the range. Out. Adaa - bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk. Still standing. One sentence, three bottles gone.

That is what makes the format decision for you. Three bottles require three survivors. With one survivor, a set of three can only be assembled by putting back two of the things he already excluded, which is not discovery and is not a deal. So the answer is Adaa at ₹379 for 3ML, ₹669 for 6ML or ₹1,149 for 12ML, and the budget goes into size rather than into count.

Be accurate about what Adaa is. It is bright and aromatic rather than fresh-woody. Green cardamom gives it a dry edge and the white musk underneath keeps it soft, but nobody would call it a woody fragrance. If fresh woody is precisely the thing he loves, this range holds one bright scent and three deep ones with nothing deliberately placed in between, and no wording of mine closes that gap.

The fixed set, for completeness. Three attars at ₹1,055, and it is not the right object here - the saving is real and it is a saving on three bottles of the one material he named. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: count the survivors before you choose a format, because three bottles need three of them and too heavy an oud leaves exactly one.
The fixed set is the wrong shape for this. Choose three 3ML singles yourself - any three of the four, ₹1,153 to ₹1,173 - which is the only route that includes Adaa, the one bright scent in the range. It costs about a hundred rupees more than the set, and it arrives as three boxes rather than one.
from ₹1,153

Three bottles need three survivors

Three things follow from the count, and only the last one is about which bottle goes in the bag.

1
The survivor count
One sentence, three bottles gone
Most gift advice treats a dislike as a preference expressed backwards, something to be balanced against the things he likes. It is more useful than that. A stated exclusion runs straight down a product list and deletes rows, and the number of rows left is what tells you which format you can afford to buy. Here, oudh appears in three of four attars, so one sentence takes the list from four to one. Nothing else he said changes that number.
Tip: Count the survivors first. The count chooses the format, not you.
2
The missing middle
There is no fresh woody attar in this range
Fresh and woody is a real and common taste, and it is not a taste this range was built to serve. Adaa is the bright end. Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab are the deep end. Nothing sits between them on purpose, because four attars in two registers is one perfumer's point of view rather than a map of fragrance. You can hand him the bright end and it will probably be worn. You cannot hand him the thing he described, because it is not made here.
3
Size instead of number
When one bottle survives, spend on the bottle
A discovery set exists to spread risk across several guesses. With one candidate there is no risk left to spread, so the money is better spent on a size he will actually use up. Adaa at 6ML is ₹669 and at 12ML ₹1,149 - roughly what you were going to spend anyway, in a bottle that lasts rather than three that make the same point three times.
Tip: One survivor means one bottle, in a size he will finish.
The SOSA principle
Three bottles need three survivors.
Oud is too heavy deletes Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab in a single sentence. What remains is one attar, and one attar is a bottle rather than a set - which is a decision about format made for you, before you have chosen anything.

Counting what the brief leaves standing

Run the sentence he said against the four bottles, count what is left, and let the count decide the shape of the gift.

The SOSA attar edit
What to buy for somebody who has ruled out oud
Option Who it suits, and what it costs
The honest answer Adaa at ₹379 for 3ML or ₹669 for 6ML. Bergamot and green cardamom over jasmine sambac and white musk.
He will use up a bottle he likes Adaa at 12ML, ₹1,149. The same scent in the size that lasts, which is where the budget belongs here.
You want three bottles regardless Three 3ML singles chosen yourself, ₹1,153 to ₹1,173, arriving as three boxes. Two of the three will carry oudh, so read that before ordering.
The fixed three-attar set Not this one. All three scents in it are built on oudh, which is the single thing he named. ₹1,055, and worth skipping here.

If what he dislikes is the weight rather than the material itself, Dislikes intensity separates those two things and reaches a different answer. If you are holding several loose phrases like this one and want them translated into bottles, The dislikes guide does all four at once. Adaa is where this question ends up.

Tell us what they already wear
Send us the bottle they have worn for years, or just how they describe it - bright, heavy, sweet, clean. If the fixed set is the wrong register for that person, we will say so and tell you which three to pick instead.
Gift enquiry
A set of three is not a gift format. It is a claim that three of your candidates survived, and here only one did.

The SOSA attar edit

Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist, hand-blended in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by what you actually know about the person's taste, which is what decides whether a fixed set or three chosen bottles is the right answer.

The SOSA attar edit
Five answers by what you actually know about their taste - from ₹1,055 to ₹1,859
Option Best for What it is, honestly From
The three-attar set, 3ML x 3 They already wear rose, oud or big florals Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani - one register, three evenings. Fixed: Adaa is not in it ₹1,055
Three chosen 3ML singles You want contrast, not depth Any three of the four, chosen by you. The only route that includes Adaa. Three boxes, not one set ₹1,153
One 12ML of a scent you are sure of You know exactly what they wear A size they finish rather than sample, when guessing is not required ₹1,149
The three-attar set, 6ML x 3 The same three, in a size that lasts Where the trio is right and 3ML would run out too quickly ₹1,859
Solid perfume tin 15g When a roll-on is not right Solid balm in a metal tin - nothing to spill, nothing to leak in a bag ₹500

Four honest notes. The three-attar set is fixed - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, in one size tier at a time. Adaa, the bergamot and cardamom one, is not in it, so if the brighter style is what the person wears, that means buying Adaa separately. All three trio scents sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals - so the set is depth rather than contrast; if contrast is the point, choose three 3ML singles yourself and know that they arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set, because there is no build-your-own set on the store. SOSA's attars are alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist; the designer-inspired line is an alcohol-based spray and a different product entirely, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any fragrance house it names. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

The hardest fragrance gift is not the one where you know nothing. It is the one where you know just enough. You can name the bottle they have worn for six years. You also know that buying it again is not a gift, it is a refill - and that buying something wildly different is a coin toss with your money on it.

So people reach for a set, and most fragrance sets quietly mislead. They are sold as exploration when they are really one house's single idea, broken into three bottles. I would rather tell you what ours actually is. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani are three evenings, not three directions. Rose, oud, sandalwood, saffron, night jasmine. If the person you are buying for already lives in that register, the set is genuinely good and the discount is real. If they wear something bright and fresh, it is the wrong set, and no amount of my writing changes that.

The answer in that case is not a different set. It is three bottles you pick yourself - and yes, that costs about a hundred rupees more than the fixed three, and yes, they arrive in three boxes rather than one. I would rather you knew both of those things before you ordered than after. Adaa is the only bright one we make, and it is not in the set. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

Will the three-attar set work for somebody who says oud is too heavy?
No. Ameeri has soft oudh under rose and sandalwood, Mastani has oudh under night jasmine and damask rose, and Nawaab is white royal oud. All three scents in the fixed set rest on the material he named, so the whole set fails on his one stated condition.
Which SOSA attar is closest to fresh?
Adaa - bergamot and green cardamom over jasmine sambac and white musk. It is ₹379 at 3ML, ₹669 at 6ML and ₹1,149 at 12ML. It is the only bright scent in the attar range and it is not part of the fixed set, so it has to be bought on its own.
Is there a fresh woody attar in the range?
No. The range is four attars in two registers: Adaa at the bright end and Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab at the deep end, with nothing placed deliberately in between. Fresh woody is a real taste and this is not the range that serves it. Better to plan around that limit than to be told otherwise.
Should I buy three chosen singles instead of the set?
Only if you want three bottles for their own sake. Any three of the four cost ₹1,153 to ₹1,173, which is about ₹100 more than the fixed set, and they arrive as three separate boxes because there is no build-your-own option on the store. Two of any three will still carry oudh.
Is a single bottle a weak gift compared with three?
Not when the brief only supports one. Three bottles reads as generous until two of them go unworn, at which point it reads as three guesses. One 6ML or 12ML bottle of the scent that actually survived his description is the same money spent on the part he will use.

SOSA does not sort fragrance by the gender of the wearer - every scent is recommended here on what a person has said they like.

SOSA attars, specified: alcohol-free concentrated fragrance oil in a roll-on bottle, applied at the wrist rather than sprayed. Four scents: Adaa (bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk - the one bright scent in the range), Ameeri (Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh), Mastani (night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh) and Nawaab (white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron). Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab share oudh, sandalwood and rose materials and sit in one register; Adaa is the outlier.
