Because you are carrying water in and never letting it out. Wet shoes, umbrellas and clothes soak into the carpet; the windows stay shut for weeks; the AC runs on recirculation. Lift the mats and press the carpet
Press the footwell carpet firmly with your palm, driver and passenger side. If it is cool and damp - or your hand comes away wet - you have water under the mats. This is the single most common source of monsoon smell in a Nexon.

Lift the boot floor and check the spare wheel well. Water collects there quietly and nobody looks for months - and in a car with a third row or a big boot it is a large area to go bad.

Wet umbrellas get pushed under seats and forgotten. So do damp bags. Have a proper look at floor level with a torch - it is remarkable what turns up.

Take every mat out of the Nexon and dry them properly in sunlight - not an hour, a good half day. Rubber mats need the underside dried too, because water sits between mat and carpet.

The moment you get a few dry hours, park safely and open all doors and the boot. Airflow does more than any product. If the carpet is soaked, it may need lifting and drying properly - a wet carpet will not dry through a closed door.

Run the AC on fresh air (not recirculation) with the temperature low for ten minutes - it pulls moisture out of the cabin air. Then, at the end of each drive, run the fan with the compressor off for two minutes to dry the evaporator so the AC itself does not turn musty.

The bit almost nobody checks
Your car has drain holes - and they block.
The AC condensate drain, the sunroof drains and the door-bottom drains all clear water away from the cabin. Leaves, dust and grit block them, and the water backs up into the footwell instead. If your Nexon keeps getting damp with no obvious cause, blocked drains are the most likely explanation - and clearing them is a quick job for any service centre.
When damp is a leak, not just monsoon
If the carpet is wet again within days of drying it, you do not have a smell problem - you have a water-ingress problem. Common causes are perished door or boot seals, blocked drains, a windscreen seal, or a sunroof drain that has come adrift. Get it looked at rather than fighting it with fragrance every fortnight: standing water inside a cabin can reach wiring and connectors, and persistent damp encourages mould that is genuinely worth avoiding. I formulate in Pune, so monsoon is not theoretical for me - it is four months of testing whether a fragrance holds up at 85% humidity without turning. Most cheap fresheners go sickly-sweet in the wet. That is a formulation problem, and it is why we build for this climate specifically.
