What we answer
"How much is too much at a desk?"
If a colleague can locate you by it, the amount is wrong - not the bottle
Dose
What we specify
"Three people within arm's reach all day."
One dab, wrists only, and a musk-forward register
Close seating
What we answer
"I want it noticed, just not resented."
Then aim for conversational distance - noticed when spoken to, absent otherwise
The balance
What we answer
"Why does it feel stronger indoors than outdoors?"
Recirculated air keeps everything you applied in the room with you
AC
What we specify
"A colleague who reacts to strong fragrance."
Musk at one dab on one wrist - or nothing on the days you sit together

Projection is a feature in a large space and a problem in a small one, because a fragrance designed to fill a room will do exactly that whether or not the room wants filling.
Quick answers — read this first
Is a strong-projection perfume appropriate in a small office? Rarely. In a small sealed room a projecting fragrance has nowhere to disperse, so it accumulates around everybody.
What should I wear instead? An oil at one dab. Adaa at ₹379 is close by nature, which is the property a small room needs.
Can I wear my projecting perfume at all? After work, or on days you are out of the office. It is a tool for large spaces, not a fragrance to give up.
The short answer
Short answer: In a small room, projection has nowhere to go. Switch format rather than switching fragrance - an oil at one dab.
The pick:Adaa at ₹379 as the small-room daily, Ameeri at ₹385 for meetings elsewhere, Nawaab at ₹399 after work.
Not sure which? WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 with your office layout, how close you sit to colleagues and what you wear now - we will tell you the dose as well as the bottle.
Office fragrance goes wrong in a predictable order: somebody applies a spray dose of an oil, puts it on the neck in an air-conditioned room, tops it up at lunch because they can no longer smell it, and never finds out what the row behind them thinks. Distance first, register second, dose third, timing fourth, and the clock rather than your own nose fifth. This guide walks that sequence, with the real SOSA attar range at each price.
Is a strong-projection perfume appropriate in a small office?
Usually not, and the reason is physical rather than social. Projection describes how far a fragrance disperses into the air around you, and it is a genuinely good property in a large or open space - it is what makes a fragrance noticeable at a party or in a hotel lobby. In a small sealed room with air conditioning, there is nowhere for that dispersal to go. The fragrance fills the available volume, the air conditioning recirculates it, and by mid-morning everybody in the room is inside your fragrance rather than near it. The fix is a change of format rather than of taste. An oil attar is close by nature: it sits on the skin and releases slowly instead of dispersing, which is precisely the property a small room needs. Adaa at ₹379 at one dab gives you a clearly present fragrance with a radius of about a metre, and the room stays the room. This is not an argument for giving anything up. A projecting eau de parfum is a tool for large spaces and evenings, and it remains excellent at that - wear it after work, at events, and on days you are out of the office. What does not work is wearing a room-filling fragrance in a room the size of a lift five days a week, and no amount of applying less quite solves it, because the format is designed to travel. Fragrance is personal and skin chemistry is real - no fragrance performs identically on everyone.
One line: in a small room, change format rather than dose - an oil at one dab has a radius of about a metre.
If you want one clear answer rather than a shortlist: SOSA Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml - close by nature rather than by restraint, which is the property a small sealed room actually needs. 6ml at ₹669 once you know it is yours.

Why projection fails in a small room
It is a physical property doing exactly what it was designed to do, in a space that cannot absorb it.
Why this works
Wearing fragrance at work
The office shortlist: Adaa ₹379 as the daily, Ameeri ₹385 for client meetings, Mastani ₹389 for office-to-evening, Nawaab ₹399 for after work. All 3ml, 6ml from ₹669.
Projection is the deliberate dispersal of fragrance into surrounding air, achieved mostly through alcohol as a carrier. It is a feature, and in a lobby or at an event it is the right feature. In a sealed cabin it means the fragrance occupies the whole room rather than the space around you, which is a design working correctly in the wrong setting.
Tip: Projection is a feature working correctly in the wrong room.
02
Why applying less does not fix it
The format still travels
Reducing the dose of a projecting fragrance reduces the intensity but not the reach - it still disperses, it simply disperses something fainter. An oil behaves differently in kind rather than in degree, staying on the skin instead of entering the air, which is why the format change works where restraint alone does not.
03
What to do with the bottle
Large spaces and evenings
Nothing about this is an argument for abandoning a fragrance you like. Wear it to events, restaurants, weddings and any day you are not in the small office - those are the conditions it was built for, and it will be better there than any oil.
Tip: Keep it. Wear it where the room is large.
The SOSA principle
In a small room, everybody is inside your fragrance rather than near it.
Which is a volume problem no amount of spraying less quite solves.

Picking between the three
Keep the projecting fragrance for large spaces and buy something close for the room you actually sit in.

Reducing a projecting fragrance makes it fainter. It does not make it stay put.

The SOSA attar range
Whatever the workplace, the method is the same: decide how far the fragrance should travel, choose a register that stays there, apply one dab at home, and trust the clock rather than your own nose. Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free and made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the range by the wear it is honestly built for.
The SOSA attar range
Sorted by where each one belongs in a working day - from a ₹379 3ml roll-on to the ₹3,189 trio

Honest notes: fragrance is personal and skin chemistry is real, so longevity, projection and the way a fragrance develops vary between people - no attar performs identically on everyone, and a description is a guide rather than a guarantee. Oil-based attars contain no alcohol, which generally means they sit closer to the skin and change more slowly than a spray; that is a difference in behaviour, not a claim of superiority. Application dose matters more than most people expect: two dabs on pulse points is the intended amount, one in peak heat, and fragrance is not applied to clothing. Heat and humidity lift a fragrance, so the same bottle reads stronger in an Indian summer than in December. SOSA makes no therapeutic, medical, mood or attraction claims for any fragrance, and no claim that a fragrance influences how others judge or respond to the wearer. Bottle sizes are 3ml, 6ml and 12ml; the oil is the same across sizes, and cost per application falls as the bottle gets larger. SOSA's fragrances are made in India. A note from Sonal
People ask whether their perfume is too strong for a small office, and the honest answer is usually that it is the wrong format rather than the wrong amount. A fragrance built to travel will travel.
The mistake I correct most often at work is not the choice of fragrance but the amount. Nose fatigue sets in within about half an hour, so the instinct to top up at lunch is precisely backwards - the room has not stopped smelling it just because you have.
A shared office is the only place people wear fragrance for an audience that never agreed to it, which is the whole argument for restraint. Fragrance is personal - skin, season and dose all change what happens, and no bottle behaves the same on two people. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531 and I will help you narrow it down. A part of every order funds girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Is a strong-projection perfume appropriate in a small office?
Rarely. In a sealed room there is nowhere for it to disperse, so it accumulates around everybody in it.
Will applying less solve it?
Only partly. It makes the fragrance fainter but it still travels - an oil changes the behaviour rather than the intensity.
What should I wear in a small cabin?
An oil at one dab. Adaa at ₹379 is close by nature, with a radius of about a metre.
Should I stop wearing my projecting perfume?
No - wear it at events, restaurants and evenings. It is excellent in large spaces.
Does air conditioning make it worse?
Yes. Recirculated air keeps the dispersed fragrance in the room. WhatsApp +91 96192 18531.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the method - decide the distance first, choose a register that stays there, apply one dab at home - applies whatever brand a buyer finally chooses.
Facts verified September 2026: Fragrance preference is personal and skin chemistry varies, so longevity, projection and development differ between wearers; published notes describe an intended character rather than a guaranteed performance. Oil-based attars contain no alcohol, which generally results in slower evaporation and a closer wear than an alcohol-based spray; this is a difference in format behaviour and not a claim of superiority. Higher skin and ambient temperatures increase the rate at which fragrance materials leave the skin, raising perceived intensity and shortening wear. Two dabs on pulse points is the intended application dose for an oil attar, reduced to one in heat. SOSA makes no therapeutic, medical, mood, attraction or wellbeing claims for any fragrance, and no claim that a fragrance influences how others judge or respond to the wearer. SOSA attar range as listed on sosahomeandbody.com in September 2026: Adaa (bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk) ₹379 / 3ml, ₹669 / 6ml, ₹1,149 / 12ml; Ameeri (Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh) ₹385 / 3ml, ₹679 / 6ml, ₹1,165 / 12ml; Mastani (night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh) ₹389 / 3ml, ₹685 / 6ml, ₹1,179 / 12ml; Nawaab (white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron) ₹399 / 3ml, ₹699 / 6ml, ₹1,199 / 12ml; the Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani trio ₹1,055 / 3ml, ₹1,859 / 6ml, ₹3,189 / 12ml; Beast solid body perfume 15g ₹549; SOSA eau de parfum sprays from ₹599 for 10ml.
