This is the question every other page in this family was building towards, and it is the one I answer worst if you ask it the way it is usually asked. Nobody has measured what an arrival signature does to a restaurant group's trade, including me, so I am going to decline the frame and hand you a smaller decision you can genuinely take this week.
Quick answers — read this first
Is professional scenting worth it for a multi-location group? I cannot answer that as written, because SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one - no covers, no table turns, no spend per head, no bookings, no reviews, and no hedged version of any of them. So I refuse the frame rather than fill it with something plausible. The decision you can actually make has two conditions: are your arrivals currently inconsistent, and will one named person at each site own the setting? Two yeses and it is worth doing.

When is the honest answer no? Four cases, and they are common. If your restaurants are single rooms where the dining room is effectively the whole building, there is nothing to scent and you should buy nothing. If nobody will own the setting, the programme decays inside a year and you will have paid for inconsistency. If a site has an unresolved odour problem, fix that first, because fragrance is never a mask. And if a building's only mounting position puts output within reach of a table, that restaurant is scented nowhere.

What would it cost the group to find out? Less than a group expects, because you size the non-dining envelope and not the restaurant. Do the subtraction at three sites before you do anything else. Under about 750 sq ft of arrival the answer is one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 or an ₹849 Mountain Breeze reed, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy. Only a connected arrival volume earns one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999.
The short answer
Short answer: not a question I can answer as asked, because SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one. The decision a group can actually take is narrower: yes if your arrivals are currently inconsistent and one named person at each site will own the setting; no if your restaurants are single rooms where the dining room is the building, no if nobody will own it, no until any odour problem is fixed, and no in any building whose only mounting position reaches a table.
The pick: one SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) at the sites where both conditions hold and the arrival areas are one connected volume - and one SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) or a Mountain Breeze reed (₹849) at the many sites where the arrival is one small room
Next step: walk into three of your own restaurants from the street on the same evening, write down what each arrival smells like, and send us those three notes with the floor plans - we will tell you whether you have an inconsistency worth fixing or a building worth leaving alone - Ask for a restaurant scenting plan.
The decision a group can actually make - in five linesI have no business-outcome number. Nobody should pretend toSo the frame is refused, and replaced with two questionsAre your arrivals inconsistent? Will someone own it?Two yeses: ₹1,899 or ₹11,999, sized per siteSingle rooms, or nobody owning it: buy nothing
The first line costs me the easiest sale in this cluster and I would rather publish it than a figure I cannot stand behind. The rest of the page is the substitute, and I think it is more useful than the number you came for.
The machine for the yes case - tap to read the specification
Straight answer
Is professional scenting worth it for a multi-location restaurant group?
I am going to refuse the question as asked, and then give you something better. Refused, because the word "worth" in a group's mouth means a figure - a movement in covers, in table turns, in spend per head, in repeat visits, in bookings - and SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one. Not a hedged one, not a "many operators find", not an anecdote dressed as a trend. If a scenting company offers your board a percentage, ask to see the measurement, because I do not have one and I would genuinely like to read theirs. Now the substitute, which is a decision rather than a forecast, and it rests on two conditions. One: are your arrivals currently inconsistent? This is answerable tonight. Walk into three of your own restaurants from the street on the same evening, in that order, and write down what each arrival actually smells like before you speak to anyone. If the three notes read differently - one of nothing, one of last night's frying, one of a cleaning product - you have an inconsistency, and the arrival is the one sensory element a group can genuinely hold steady, because it is the one part the kitchen is not changing hour by hour. Two: will one named person at each site own the setting? Not a department, a person, with their name on a page. A restaurant is staffed by many hands and across ten restaurants that is a hundred people who will pass a reachable machine in a year, so without an owner and a key-lock the programme decays into exactly the inconsistency you were paying to remove. Two yeses and it is worth doing. Then the noes, given equal weight because more groups belong in them than expect to. If your restaurants are single rooms where the dining room is effectively the building, buy nothing - there is no non-dining envelope to scent and no honest place for a machine. If nobody will own it, buy nothing. If a site smells of last night, fix the exhaust, grease, drains, fabrics and housekeeping first, because fragrance is never a mask and we sell no extractor, purifier or deodoriser. And if a building's only mounting position puts output within reach of a table, that restaurant is scented nowhere. Where the answer is yes, size each site: under about 750 sq ft of envelope one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 or an ₹849 Mountain Breeze reed and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy; a connected arrival volume takes one SOSA Vaayu at ₹11,999. One more thing to weigh before a rollout: no cold-air refill for the Vaayu is sold separately yet - it ships with 4 × 100ml, that 400ml is the entire supply today at 90+ days a fill, and the Hotel Collection oils at ₹299, ₹999 and ₹1,799 are ultrasonic only and never a Vaayu refill. And the dining room stays unscented in every restaurant in the group, with each chef's judgement overriding this plan in their own room. Ask for a restaurant scenting plan.
I have no business-outcome number and will not invent one, so the frame is refused. Yes if your arrivals are inconsistent and one named person will own the setting at each site. No if your restaurants are single rooms, no if nobody owns it, no until an odour problem is fixed, and no where the only mounting position reaches a table.
Where the answer is yes and the arrival is one volume, the machine is the SOSA Vaayu - 1000m³, adjustable intensity, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, key-lock, 400ml at 90+ days a fill. ₹11,999. Under about 750 sq ft of arrival, buy the Sukoon at ₹1,899.

The machine where the answer is yes

For the groups whose two conditions both hold, the hardware is still sized site by site rather than bought by the dozen. The images link to the product pages so your board can read the specification rather than a summary of it.

SOSA Vaayu
The yes case, where the arrival areas are one volume
SOSA Vaayu
Waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, about 2,000-3,000 sq ft. 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, app timers at 1h/4h/8h/24h, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, auto-stop and key-lock. The adjustable step and the lock are what the second condition rests on: an owned setting that survives the year.
From ₹11,999
SOSA Sukoon
The yes case at most sites, honestly
SOSA Sukoon
Ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft, supplied with three 15ml fragrances. Once you subtract the dining rooms across a group, a surprising number of sites land here, and a Vaayu at six times the price would be running at the bottom of its range in a room that does not need it.
From ₹1,899
SOSA Vaayu
The machine the yes case is built around, specification in full
SOSA Vaayu
1000m³ coverage (about 2,000-3,000 sq ft), 400ml tank running 90+ days a fill, Bluetooth app and 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, adjustable intensity, under 38dB, 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mount, auto-stop and key-lock. CE, RoHS and SGS certified, which are electrical and compliance marks rather than any claim about food. Made in India. Cold-air refill oil is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 4 × 100ml and continuity of supply must be confirmed with SOSA in writing before a group commits to a rollout.

The two conditions, and the four noes

Three pieces of work, and the first one costs nothing and can be done tonight. Do it before you read a single quotation, from us or anyone else.

1
Test condition one tonight
Walk into three of your own restaurants from the street and write it down
Same evening, three sites, in a row, and write the note before you speak to a manager. You are looking for whether the three arrivals read as the same building. If one smells of nothing, one of last night's frying and one of a cleaning product, you have a real inconsistency and the arrival is the right place to fix it, because it is the one sensory element the kitchen is not changing by the hour. If all three read the same and read well, then you have your answer and it is no - your arrivals are already consistent and the money belongs somewhere else in the business. That test costs an evening and it is more informative than any figure anybody could have quoted you.
Tip: Go in from the street rather than the staff door, and arrive at three different points in service so you are not comparing one quiet room with two busy ones.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
See SOSA Vaayu →
2
Then test condition two honestly
A person, with a name on a page - not a department and not a group email
This is where multi-site programmes fail, and it is a management question rather than a perfumery one. Somebody at each restaurant has to own the number: set it at the end of a full service, record it on that site's page, keep the key-lock engaged, and answer for it at an audit. Without that, a hundred well-meaning staff hands across ten restaurants will move the setting, move the machine and unplug it, and within a year you have paid for the inconsistency you set out to remove. If you cannot name the person at each site today, the honest answer is not yet. That is a cheaper sentence to read here than to discover after ten installations.
Tip: Write the name on the page rather than in an email thread. A page at the site survives a change of duty manager; an email does not.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999, set once and left alone, is the whole hardware side of this.
See SOSA Vaayu →
3
Then check the four noes before you buy anything
More groups belong in one of these than expect to
Single-room restaurants: where the dining room is effectively the building, there is no non-dining envelope, no honest position for a machine, and the answer is to buy nothing. No owner: covered above, and it is a no. An unresolved odour problem: a site that smells of last night has an exhaust, grease, drain, fabric or housekeeping problem, and fragrance is never a mask - you would get the problem plus fragrance. No safe mounting position: if the only place a machine can go puts its output within reach of a table, that restaurant is scented nowhere. And the consumable caveat: no separate cold-air refill for the Vaayu is sold today, so get continuity in writing before a rollout.
SOSA Vaayu
One Vaayu ₹11,999 only at the sites that clear all of this - and one Sukoon ₹1,899 where the arrival is a single room.
See SOSA Vaayu →
The SOSA principle
Worth it is not a number I have, so the question I can answer is narrower and more useful: are your arrivals inconsistent, and will one named person own the setting?
Two yeses and it is worth doing. One no and the honest recommendation is to spend the money elsewhere.
SOSA Vaayu
What the yes case actually rests on: Adjustable intensity and a key-lock, so an owned setting survives a hundred staff hands across ten restaurants for a year. ₹11,999.

The decision, condition by condition

This is the whole decision on one page, written so it can be taken to a board meeting without a single invented figure on it.

The SOSA plan
The decision a multi-location group can actually make
The test What to do
Is there a business-outcome number?
No. SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one - no covers, no table turns, no spend per head, no bookings, no reviews, and no hedged version. Any supplier quoting your board a figure should be asked to show the measurement behind it.
Condition one: are the arrivals inconsistent?
Walk into three of your own restaurants from the street on the same evening and write the note before speaking to anyone. Three different notes is a real inconsistency worth fixing. Three matching good notes is a no, and the money belongs elsewhere.
SOSA VaayuCondition two: will a named person own it?
One person per site, named on that restaurant's page, who sets the number at the end of a full service, keeps the key-lock engaged and answers for it at an audit. If you cannot name them today, the answer is not yet.
SOSA Mountain Breeze reed diffuserNo: single-room restaurants
Where the dining room is effectively the whole building there is no non-dining envelope and no honest position for a machine. Buy nothing. At most, a reed in the washroom at ₹849 and stop there.
No: an unresolved odour problem, or no safe position
A site that smells of last night gets exhaust, grease, drains, fabrics and housekeeping fixed first, because fragrance is never a mask. And where the only mounting position puts output within reach of a table, that restaurant is scented nowhere.
Before a rollout, whatever the answer
No cold-air refill for the Vaayu is sold separately today: 4 × 100ml in the box is the entire supply at 90+ days a fill, and Hotel Collection oils are ultrasonic only, never a Vaayu refill. Bulk pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty, installation, minimum order, lead time and rollout are unpublished - get all of them in writing.

If you suspect your group belongs in one of the noes, the complete list of restaurants that should buy nothing from us is in when a restaurant should avoid ambient fragrance completely, and single-room restaurants are at the top of it. And if both conditions hold, the administration that makes the second one real - one page per site, two central lines, two local lines and an audit on foot - is set out in how to standardise entrance fragrance across 10 restaurant locations. SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any hotel.

SOSA Vaayu
And what is still open before a rollout: No cold-air refill for the Vaayu is sold separately today, and the Hotel Collection oils are ultrasonic only and never a Vaayu refill. Get continuity in writing.
Two conditions, no forecast
SOSA Vaayu ₹11,999 is worth buying where your arrivals are inconsistent and one named person will own the setting - and not otherwise.
See the SOSA Vaayu Book a scenting plan
The most commercially stupid sentence in my business is that I have no number, and I would still rather say it than hand a board a percentage I invented on a train.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA

The SOSA restaurant specification

Where the answer comes out yes, three products cover almost every site in a group and the band is decided by the cubic volume of each arrival rather than by the count of restaurants. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately, so the 4 × 100ml supplied runs 90+ days a fill and continuity must be confirmed with SOSA in writing before a rollout. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

The SOSA restaurant specification
Where the answer is yes, the machine still comes from the arithmetic
Machine Best for Why it works Price
SOSA Mountain Breeze reed diffuser A single-room restaurant, where the honest answer is a washroom and nothing else ₹849 for 50ml and ₹1,349 for 130ml. Pine, sage and cedar, dry and unmistakably not-food. Continuous, silent, unpowered and with no setting for anyone to own, which is exactly right when there is nothing to standardise ₹849

SOSA Sukoon An arrival envelope of roughly 300-750 sq ft, which is many group sites ₹1,899 for 270-320 sq ft coverage with three 15ml fragrances included. At this size a Vaayu would be the wrong buy, and saying so across a ten-site estate is worth more to a group than any forecast ₹1,899

SOSA Vaayu A site where the arrival areas are one volume and somebody owns the setting ₹11,999 for 1000m³, waterless, adjustable intensity, app timers, key-lock, under 38dB, 5W, wall or HVAC mountable. 4 × 100ml supplied at 90+ days a fill, with no separate cold-air refill sold today ₹11,999

Take the decision on the two conditions rather than on a forecast, and take the machine from the arithmetic rather than from the restaurant count. Ambient scent across a group is an ambience decision like lighting; it is never a mask for cooking, grease, fish, smoke or a drain; and the dining room, the chef's table, any tasting-menu room and the pass stay unscented in every restaurant in the group, with no machine placed where its output can reach a table. I will not describe any fragrance as food-safe or safe for use around food, because we have not tested for that and will not imply it, and anything sited near a food-preparation area is a question for your kitchen consultant and your local authority rather than for me. Fragrance oil is flammable, so oil and machine stay away from open flame and heat - table candles, flambé service, tandoors and ranges. Bulk and multi-site pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty terms, installation, minimum order, lead time and rollout are not published, and we make no delivery or timing promises. And plainly: SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one - no covers, no table turns, no spend per head, no bookings. Ask for a restaurant scenting plan before you spend anything.

A note from Sonal

Groups ask me whether this is worth it and what they want is a percentage for a board pack. I do not have one. Nobody has shown me a measurement of what an arrival signature does to a restaurant group's trade, we have not run one ourselves, and the honest consequence is that I will not put a figure in front of your finance director - not a real one, not a hedged one, not an anecdote with a number attached. That costs me the easiest sale in this whole cluster, and I have made peace with it, because the alternative is being the supplier whose claim somebody has to defend in a meeting I am not in.

What I can give you is the decision underneath the question, and it only has two conditions. First, are your arrivals actually inconsistent? Test it tonight: walk into three of your own restaurants from the street on the same evening and write down what each one smells like before you speak to a manager. Three different notes means a real inconsistency, and the arrival is the right place to fix it because it is the one part of the sensory experience the kitchen is not changing hour by hour. Three matching good notes means no, and you should spend the money somewhere else. Second, will one named person at each site own the setting? Not a department and not a group email - a name on a page, who sets the number at the end of a full service and answers for it at an audit. Without that, a hundred staff hands across ten restaurants will undo it inside a year.

And the noes deserve as much space as the yes. If your restaurants are single rooms where the dining room is the building, buy nothing from us beyond perhaps a Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 for the washroom. If a site smells of last night, fix that first. If the only mounting point reaches a table, scent nothing there. Where the answer is yes, it is a Sukoon at ₹1,899 for most sites and a Vaayu at ₹11,999 where the arrival is one volume - and before any rollout, note that no cold-air refill is sold separately yet and get continuity in writing along with bulk pricing, GST invoicing, AMC, warranty and installation, none of which we publish. Made in India, and a portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Is professional scenting worth it for a multi-location restaurant group?
Not a question anyone can answer with a figure, because SOSA does not publish a business-outcome number because it has not measured one. No covers, no table turns, no spend per head, no bookings. The decision you can take is narrower: yes if your arrivals are currently inconsistent and one named person at each site will own the setting, and no if either of those is missing.
How do we test whether our arrivals are inconsistent?
Walk into three of your own restaurants from the street on the same evening, in a row, and write the note before you speak to a manager. If one smells of nothing, one of last night's frying and one of a cleaning product, you have a real inconsistency and the arrival is the right place to fix it. If all three read the same and read well, the answer is no and the money belongs elsewhere in the business.
When should a group buy nothing at all?
Four cases. Where your restaurants are single rooms and the dining room is effectively the whole building, because there is no non-dining envelope. Where nobody will own the setting, because the programme decays within a year. Where a site still smells of last night, because fragrance is never a mask and the fix is exhaust, grease, drains, fabrics and housekeeping. And where the only mounting position puts output within reach of a table.
What should we know about supply before a group rollout?
That no cold-air refill for the Vaayu is sold separately today. The machine ships with 4 x 100ml, that 400ml is the entire supply, and it runs 90+ days a fill. Our Hotel Collection oils at Rs 299, Rs 999 and Rs 1,799 are ultrasonic only and are never a Vaayu refill. Bulk pricing, GST and corporate invoicing, AMC, warranty, installation, minimum order, lead time and rollout are unpublished, so get every one in writing.
What will it cost across a group if the answer is yes?
Less than most groups assume, because you size the non-dining envelope and not the restaurant. Under about 750 sq ft of arrival the honest answer is a Sukoon at Rs 1,899 or a Mountain Breeze reed at Rs 849, and a Vaayu would be the wrong buy there. Only a genuinely connected arrival volume earns a Vaayu at Rs 11,999. Expect a mixed estate rather than one machine repeated ten times.
SOSA Vaayu
And the honest answer at most sites: Under about 750 sq ft of arrival, one SOSA Sukoon at ₹1,899 - or a Mountain Breeze reed at ₹849 where the arrival is one small room.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range; the planning advice applies to any brand.

Facts verified 5 September 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: the SOSA Vaayu (₹11,999) is a waterless cold-air nebuliser rated to 1000m³, described by the manufacturer as approximately 2,000-3,000 sq ft, with adjustable intensity, a 400ml refillable tank lasting 90+ days a fill depending on intensity and run hours, Bluetooth app and button control, 1h/4h/8h/24h timers, operation under 38dB at 5W, freestanding or wall and HVAC mounting, auto-stop and key-lock, and CE, RoHS and SGS certification, which are electrical and compliance marks and not medical approvals. Being waterless, it adds no moisture and leaves no residue on surfaces or equipment. The SOSA Sukoon (₹1,899) is an ultrasonic cool-mist diffuser covering roughly 270-320 sq ft and is supplied with three 15ml fragrances; the water-based Hotel Collection (₹299 / ₹999 / ₹1,799) is an ultrasonic fragrance and is not a refill for a waterless cold-air machine. SOSA reed diffusers are alcohol-free and phthalate-free, with 50ml lasting about 6-8 weeks and 130ml about 14-18 weeks. Cold-air refill oil for the Vaayu is not currently sold separately - the machine ships with 400ml included and further refills should be confirmed with SOSA. Warranty, annual maintenance, installation and bulk terms are not published and should be confirmed before ordering. Ambient scent is an interior and hospitality decision: it makes no clinical, therapeutic or wellbeing claim, it works alongside proper extraction, grease management, drainage, cleaning and air change and is never a substitute for any of them, it is never used to mask or remove another smell, and no claim is made that fragrance influences a guest's decision or any commercial outcome. Dining rooms, chef's tables, tasting-menu rooms and food-preparation areas are left unscented, no machine is placed where its output can reach a table or a pass, no fragrance is described as food-safe or safe for use around food, and the operator's own kitchen consultant and local food-safety and fire authority govern anything sited near a kitchen. Fragrance oil is flammable and is kept away from open flame and heat. The chef's judgement overrides any scenting plan in their own room. The hotel-inspired scents are SOSA's own original interpretations; SOSA is an independent brand and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any hotel named for reference. Coverage, fragrance usage and running cost depend on the space, settings and hours of use, and are confirmed on a consultation.
