Your question has two halves. Pleasant is about the fragrance, and I can speak to that. Without distracting colleagues is about people I have never met, and I will not pretend to answer it. What I can do is hand you the controls you actually hold, and there are more of them than you think.
Quick answers — read this first
Which attar suits a shared office? One with nothing loud in its base. SOSA Adaa, from ₹379 for 3ml, has bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top and white musk, vetiver and cedarwood underneath, with no oudh, no amber and no vanilla.
How much should I wear in a shared office? One dab, decided at home before you leave. A roll-on oil is applied to one spot of skin, so the dose is a count you control. Do not adjust it by nose at your desk, and do not top up through the day.
Can you promise it will not distract colleagues? No. What anyone else makes of a scent is theirs, and no seller can forecast it. What you can do is choose a quiet pyramid, fix your own count, and ask a colleague directly if you want an answer.
The short answer
Short answer: Choose a quiet pyramid, fix the dose at one dab, and keep the count as yours. The reaction of anyone else is theirs, and it is not something this page can promise.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379, one dab on the chest under your shirt, worn on three ordinary workdays and judged at hour three.
Next step: Tell us how large your office is and what you wore before, and we will say whether Adaa fits or the range is not the answer. Ask for an attar recommendation.
The things a shared-office wearer genuinely controls, in the order I would set them. The fourth line is the only place another person enters, and it is a question you ask, not an outcome I forecast.
Adaa first; Ameeri and Mastani are warmer on purpose
I Work in a Shared Office and Want an Attar That Is Pleasant Without Distracting Colleagues — Which Subtle Profiles?
Pleasant is a pyramid question and distracting is a people question. A seller can help with the first and must stay out of the second. Here is the page arranged around what you control, in five steps.
1. Start with the half that is yours. What a fragrance is made of can be read off a published pyramid before you buy. How a particular colleague responds to it cannot be read off anything, so this page does not try. Everything below is about your side of the desk.
2. Choose a base with nothing loud in it. Oud, amber, tobacco, leather and sweet vanilla are the notes that make a fragrance announce itself. Dry musk with vetiver and cedarwood does not. That points to SOSA Adaa at ₹379, and away from SOSA Nawaab, SOSA Mastani and SOSA Ameeri.
3. Turn the dose into a number. A roll-on touches one spot of skin, so one dab is a unit you can count and repeat. Decide it at home, before you leave, and keep the bottle out of your desk drawer so there is no midday decision to make.
4. Pick the place on purpose. The chest under a shirt and the inside of the wrist are different choices, and a collar or a sleeve sits between you and the room in the first. Which suits your day is for you to decide; the page only asks you to decide it deliberately.
5. If you want another person's view, ask them. A colleague you trust can tell you what they think in one sentence, and their answer is theirs to give. Where your workplace has a written fragrance rule, that rule comes first and this page defers to it.
What anyone else makes of a scent is theirs. I cannot sell you an outcome in someone else's head, and I would rather you heard that now. I can tell you what each bottle is made of and what the first three days on your own skin will show.
Pick a quiet base, fix the dose at one dab and decide the place yourself. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 fits that; another person's reaction is theirs. One 3ml, three ordinary workdays, judged at hour three.
What to buy for a shared office
The product
SOSA Adaa, the lightest of the four attars and the only one with no oudh. An alcohol-free roll-on oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune.
The size to start on
The 3ml at ₹379. If you find you reach for it on purpose, the 6ml at ₹669 is the natural next bottle, and the 12ml is ₹1,149.
Dabs, and where
One, on the chest under your shirt or on the inside of the wrist. Decide the place once and keep to it, so that you are comparing like with like across the three days.
At hour three
The bergamot and neroli have thinned. By the published pyramid what remains is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood, dry and close, with a trace of white flower.
What it costs to stay on it
Nothing beyond the small size while you are still deciding. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin, which covers a working morning and the afternoon without a second application.
I would start you on Adaa because it is the attar where nothing in the base raises its voice. I cannot tell you what a colleague will think, and neither can anyone selling you a bottle. A 3ml puts the whole decision on your own skin, which is the one place it can honestly be made.
Buy one 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379 and fix the dose before it arrives: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli on top, jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang in the heart, white musk, vetiver and cedarwood underneath. A roll-on oil, hand-blended in Pune, with no oudh. Apply one dab on the chest, under your shirt, before you leave home, and judge it at hour three.
SOSA makes four attars, all alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. For a shared room the useful question is not which is best but which has the least in its base to announce itself. Reading the published pyramids, one of them answers that clearly and one is a considered second.
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four, with no oudh, no amber and no vanilla in the base. Nothing on the list is sweet or smoky.
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. It carries some oudh and amber, so it declares more of itself. A sensible second attar, and a deliberate one, not a starting point for this brief.
₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf over amber, leather and white musk. The deepest of the four and oud-led. A fine attar for a different room; in a shared office it is the one I would ask you to choose knowingly or leave on the shelf.
None of these is a promise about another person. Each is a decision that sits entirely on your side of the desk, and each can be made before you buy, which is the only time it costs nothing to get right.
1
One
A count that you decide at home and do not revise at the desk
The first control is the simplest. A roll-on attar is applied by touching one spot of skin, so the dose is a number of dabs rather than a press of a nozzle and a guess about where the mist went. That makes it unusually easy to hold to a rule: one, decided at home, before the door closes behind you. The temptation to revise at the desk is exactly the temptation to avoid, because after a while you stop registering your own scent and a second dab feels reasonable when it is not.
Tip: Write the number on a note in the bottle's box. A count you chose at home is better than one you chose at eleven o'clock.
Adaa at ₹379 is built for a count of one: a bright opening that thins out quickly and a dry base that does not need topping up.
An oil stays where it is put. On the chest under a shirt it sits behind fabric; on the inside of the wrist it sits where your hands move through the working day, at a keyboard, around a cup, reaching across a table. Neither is correct. They are different decisions with different consequences, and the useful discipline is to pick one for the first three days so that your judgement at hour three compares like with like. If you change place and dose together you learn nothing from either.
Tip: Change one variable at a time. Place first, then, if you must, count, and never both in the same week.
Ameeri at ₹385 carries saffron, rose and amber in its pyramid, so its place and dose matter more in a small shared room than they do with Adaa.
Everything I can say about a pyramid stops at your skin. What a colleague thinks begins somewhere I cannot reach, and no sample, review or star rating can reach it either. If their view matters to you, the honest tool is a plain sentence to someone you trust: would you tell me if this were too much? Whatever they say is theirs, and you can take it or leave it. If your employer has a written rule on fragrance, read that first, because it overrides everything on this page.
Tip: Ask in the first week, before the bottle has become a habit, and ask someone who will answer plainly.
Mastani at ₹389 has vanilla, tonka and oudh in the base. It is the attar where I would not rely on judgement alone in a shared room.
A shared office does not need a weaker fragrance. It needs a fragrance whose dose you can state as a number, whose base has nothing loud in it, and whose wearer has decided the place in advance.
That is why the oil format earns its place on this page: it is applied by contact, so the thing you control and the thing you apply are the same. Everything else in the room belongs to other people.
The one whose base has nothing loud in it: Adaa at ₹379: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over three white flowers, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, with no oudh at all, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml.
The table sets the levers in the order I would pull them. Each row says what you decide, what SOSA gives you to decide it with, and where the decision ends. The last row is the one that belongs to somebody else.
The SOSA plan
Five decisions in a shared office, and who holds each one
The decision, and who holds it
What SOSA gives you to decide it with
How many dabs: yours, entirely
A roll-on oil that is applied by contact, so the count is the dose. One dab is the starting rule, and 6–8 hours on skin is the stated wear, with no second application planned. View →
Where on the body: yours, entirely
Nothing to buy for this one. Chest under a shirt or inner wrist, chosen once and held for three days, so you are comparing like with like.
Which pyramid: yours, with the notes in hand
Adaa lists no oudh, no amber and no vanilla anywhere in its published pyramid. Its base is white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. View →
Which stage you judge: yours, at hour three
The test is three ordinary workdays with a 3ml, scored when the citrus has gone. The first twenty minutes are the brightest and the least representative.
What a colleague makes of it: theirs, not yours or mine
SOSA cannot forecast this and will not try. If you want to know, ask them directly and take their reply as theirs. A written workplace rule outranks all of this.
If you later want a warmer attar for yourself: Ameeri at ₹385 adds Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, amber and a little soft oudh over the same white musk. A richer attar, best chosen after Adaa has taught you your own dose.
The fork is soft or transparent. Adaa is bright, then soft, then dry, with white flowers in the middle. Khayaal is sparkling bergamot, neroli and black tea, and is a perfume oil. Pick the word you would reach for first.
Two rows. Adaa is the answer where the base must be quiet, and the perfume oil Khayaal is the answer where transparent matters more than soft. The note beneath says what neither of them can do, which is decide anything on another person's behalf.
The SOSA specification for a shared office
Adaa for a quiet base, Khayaal for a transparent one
Start with the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379, or the 10ml of Khayaal at ₹599. If either becomes a habit, ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml covers Adaa and ₹599 for 10ml, ₹1,899 for 50ml, ₹3,599 for 100ml covers Khayaal. Neither is a musk-only fragrance: white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab and is never the subject, and SOSA makes no musk soliflore. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for the attars and nothing further; how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. Where your employer has a written fragrance rule, follow it. What a colleague makes of any fragrance is theirs, and this page makes no claim about it in either direction. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us how large your office is.

A note from Sonal
People write to me from open-plan floors and from three-desk rooms, and the worry is almost always phrased the same way: I do not want to be the person whose scent arrives first. I take that seriously, and I take it as a request to choose carefully, not as a request for a guarantee. A guarantee would be a claim about a stranger's nose, and I do not have one to give.
What I have is a habit. I decide the dose before I leave the house, I pick a place on my body and I stay with it, and I do not touch the bottle again until tomorrow. It sounds almost too plain to be advice, but it removes the mid-morning judgement call, which is where most over-application happens. The roll-on is the reason it works: a count of dabs is easy to hold to in a way that a spray never quite is.
So I would buy one 3ml of Adaa, apply one dab on the chest under a shirt, and wear it for three ordinary workdays. At hour three, ask yourself whether it is the sort of thing you would be happy to have stated as a rule. If you want a view from the next desk, ask them, and keep their answer as theirs. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.
Frequently asked questions
Which attar is best for a shared office?
The one with nothing loud in its base. SOSA Adaa lists bergamot, green cardamom and neroli, then jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, then white musk, vetiver and cedarwood, with no oudh, no amber and no vanilla. It is the lightest of SOSA's four attars, and the one I would start on.
How many dabs should I wear to work?
Start with one, on the chest under a shirt or on the inside of the wrist. Decide it at home and do not revise it at the desk. A roll-on is applied by contact, so the number of dabs is the dose, and it is much easier to keep to a rule than to a guess.
Will colleagues find it distracting?
I cannot answer that, and nobody selling a fragrance can. It depends on people I have never met. What I can offer is a quiet pyramid and a dose you control. If you want a view, ask a colleague directly, and where your workplace has a written rule, follow it.
Should I carry the bottle and top up through the day?
I would not. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin, which covers a working day for most people without a second application. Keeping the bottle at home removes the midday decision, and a midday decision is where a shared room is most likely to get too much.
What if Adaa is not what I wanted?
Then the loss is one 3ml at ₹379, not a full bottle. Tell us what you smelled at hour one and at hour three, and we will say whether SOSA Khayaal is the better try or whether the range is not for you.
The attar I would leave out of a shared desk: Mastani at ₹389 pairs night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose with Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand, and the furthest thing in the range from quiet.
