A car is the smallest space any of us scents, and the one we sit closest to. Two or three cubic metres of air, a metre from your face, with the windows up and the heater on for four months of the year. I say this to customers constantly and it still surprises people: almost every car fragrance problem I am sent is a dose problem, not a scent problem. The bottle is not weak and the oil is not wrong. The cabin simply gives fragrance nowhere to go, and winter takes away the little ventilation that was rescuing you in October.
That is why we sell the hanging bottle and the spray at the same price. They are the same oil. One gives you a mild level that is always there and asks nothing of you; the other gives you a strong level the moment you decide you want one. Neither is the better product, and pricing them differently would only push people toward whichever we wanted to sell. Choose by how you drive: a long daily commute is a hanging car, a car that matters most when somebody else gets into it is a spray car, and plenty of people quite sensibly run both.

Is there a premium car fragrance in the SOSA range?
Not in the sense the question usually means. The nine car scents run from Rs 449 to Rs 549 a bottle and the composition facts are identical across all of them: alcohol-free on an oil and water-based carrier rather than ethanol, phthalate-free, paraben-free, 0 ppm formaldehyde, naturally derived, IFRA-compliant and made in India. The price differences reflect the materials in each register rather than a grade of product, and hanging and spray cost the same as each other in every scent. The most expensive item in the car line is the SOSA Safar at Rs 3,999, and that is a device rather than a better fragrance - a waterless cordless diffuser with three speeds and a one, two or three hour timer. Buy it for the timer and the portability, not because a bottle cannot do subtle.
Why does my car smell of air freshener rather than of fragrance?
Almost always concentration. Above a certain level in a small sealed space the structure of a fragrance stops being legible and what your nose reports is intensity, which is the flat, insistent quality people describe as air freshener. It is a dosing outcome rather than a quality one, and spending more without changing the amount reproduces it exactly. Reduce first: tighten the adjustable stopper, or use one spray instead of two, and wait several days before judging, since you adapt to your own car within minutes. In winter reduce again, because a closed cabin with the heater running has almost no air exchange and warm air lifts fragrance faster off any source. If it persists at a genuinely low level, try a drier register, since sweetness is the first thing to turn in a small cabin.
Should I spend more to get something that lasts longer?
Duration in this range is a function of format rather than of price, so no. A hanging 12ml bottle lasts four to six weeks continuously, in every scent, from Rs 449 to Rs 509, and then a 15ml refill from Rs 399 gives another four to six weeks in the same glass while saving Rs 50 to Rs 60 against a new bottle. A 10ml spray holds 100 sprays, so it lasts about 50 days at two a day or three months and more at one a day, and the 50ml at Rs 1,499 holds 500 sprays for a year or more at that rate. We do not rank the nine scents against each other on measured throw or longevity, because in a cabin those depend far more on your stopper setting, the temperature and the ventilation than on the register.
Is a cheap car fragrance actually worse for the cabin air?
We are not going to characterise anyone else's products, and we would be suspicious of any brand that did. So the entire perceptible difference available to you is in the setting rather than in the spend. Keep it low, keep it steady, deal with any real smell source rather than covering it, and reduce again once the heater season starts.
