A 4BHK is the size where the honest answer stops being a single number. Three to four Sukoons will scent the rooms you live in — but it is also the point where one waterless Vaayu for the whole home often makes more sense than a growing fleet of ultrasonic machines.

A 4BHK usually runs 1,600 to 2,500 square feet, often with a large open living-dining area, four bedrooms and sometimes a separate family room or study. Two things change at this size. First, the common area is frequently too big and too open for a single 500ml ultrasonic diffuser to hold evenly. Second, the number of rooms means that scenting every one with its own Sukoon starts to become a genuine chore — four tanks to refill, four sessions to remember, and in a humid city, four small sources of moisture. This is exactly the size where I stop simply saying "add another Sukoon" and start asking whether one waterless machine would serve the home better.

How many diffusers for a 4BHK — and where do they go?
1. The Sukoon route: three to four. One Sukoon each in the living room, master and one or two more bedrooms; a Boond for a guest room. Best in drier cities, run in sessions.
2. The Vaayu route: one for the common areas. A waterless Vaayu holds a large open living-dining to one signature, with no humidity and app scheduling.
3. The hybrid — my usual recommendation. Vaayu for the open common floor, a Sukoon in each bedroom. Consistency for guests, personal scent where people sleep.
4. Guest rooms and studies take a Boond or share the nearest scent — do not over-equip rooms you rarely use.
5. Skip kitchen and bathrooms. Ventilate and control odour at source, always.

The honest caveat here is really the whole point of the article. Ultrasonic diffusers each add a little humidity, and in a 4BHK you could easily be running four of them; in Mumbai, Chennai or Kochi through the monsoon, that is enough moisture to notice. Water-based Sukoons are wonderful in bedrooms and in drier cities, run in sessions — but for long hours across a large, open, humid home, the waterless Vaayu is the more honest tool, and often the cheaper one once you count what four ultrasonic machines and their refills add up to. As ever, fragrance crowns clean, dry, aired air; it never masks a musty room or damp walls, so fix ventilation and moisture at source before you scent anything.
