You have given five variables: how woody, how soft the musk, how creamy, how dry, and what you can spend. They are not five questions. They are the same question asked from five sides, and they converge on one bottle, a size, a number of dabs and a week.
Quick answers — read this first
Which clean woody attar should I buy? SOSA Adaa, from ₹379 for 3ml, if the wood you want is dry: vetiver and cedarwood over white musk, no oudh. SOSA Ameeri, from ₹385, if sandalwood must be the named wood. Start with the 3ml of one, not both.

How do creaminess and dryness change the choice? Creaminess comes from vanilla and tonka put beside sandalwood, which is SOSA Mastani. Dryness comes from vetiver and cedarwood, which is SOSA Adaa. SOSA Ameeri sits between: smooth sandalwood with rose and amber, no vanilla.

What should the first week look like? Days one to three, one dab once dressed, judged at hour three. Days four and five, adjust or compare. Days six and seven, decide, and only then look at the 6ml or 12ml. The 3ml is enough to learn everything the page can teach.
The short answer
Short answer: Adaa for dry woods, Ameeri if sandalwood is the wood you named, Mastani only if creamy outranks clean. Start on the 3ml, with one dab.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379, or SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 if sandalwood must be named. One dab once dressed, judged at hour three.
Next step: Answer the two questions in the decider below, and the bottle chooses itself. If neither leaf fits, Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us what you wear now.

Adaa for dry woods, Ameeri for sandalwood, Mastani for creamy
Straight answer
From Woody Preference, Musk Softness, Creaminess, Dryness and Budget — Which Clean Woody Attar Should I Buy?
Take your five variables one at a time and see what each one rules in. The five converge faster than you would expect, and the bottle comes out at the end with a size, a dab and a week.

1. Woody preference decides the wood. Dry woods mean vetiver and cedarwood, which is SOSA Adaa. Sandalwood means SOSA Ameeri for smooth and clean-leaning, or SOSA Mastani if it is the sweeter kind. This is the variable that most often splits the answer in two.

2. Musk softness is the same in all of them. White musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, and the musk is never the subject; SOSA makes no musk on its own. So this variable does not choose between the woody attars. It tells you the musk will be there, quietly, underneath.

3. Creaminess and dryness are one axis. Creamy is a wood with vanilla and tonka beside it, and only Mastani has them. Dry is a wood with nothing added. If you have named both words, dryness is the one to trust: it points to Adaa.

4. Budget is the variable least likely to matter. The largest single attar is ₹1,199 for Nawaab's 12ml, and the 3ml entry size starts at ₹379. Whatever your ceiling is, you can open the first bottle without reaching it.

5. Land on Adaa, with one exception. SOSA Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml, one dab, if the wood is dry. SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 for 3ml if sandalwood has to be named. SOSA Mastani only if creamy outranks clean, and then it is a different brief.

What anyone else makes of it is theirs to say, and I will not speak for them. What I can give you is the mapping, the bottle and a week to test it on your own skin.
Dry woods point to SOSA Adaa at ₹379; sandalwood points to SOSA Ameeri at ₹385; creamy points to Mastani. One 3ml, one dab, a week.
What to buy, and what the first week looks like
The product SOSA Adaa, the lightest of the four attars and the only one with no oudh: white musk, vetiver and cedarwood in the base. If sandalwood has to be the named wood, SOSA Ameeri instead. An alcohol-free roll-on oil, hand-blended in Pune.
The size to start on The 3ml, at ₹379 for Adaa or ₹385 for Ameeri. The 6ml at ₹669 and the 12ml at ₹1,149 are for after the week is over and the decision is made.
Dabs, and where One dab, on the chest or the side of the neck, once you are dressed. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence. A second dab appears on day four, and only if the first one has genuinely gone by hour three.
At hour three The citrus has gone. By the published pyramid, white musk, vetiver and cedarwood are what remain on Adaa: dry, woody, close. On Ameeri it is sandalwood and white musk with a little amber under them.
The first week Days one to three, the test. Days four and five, adjust the dose or compare with the other bottle. Days six and seven, decide. The plan is laid out day by day further down this page.
What it costs to stay on it Nothing beyond the first 3ml until the week is over. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin, and the larger sizes are about how long a bottle lasts you, not how long a dab does.
I have tried to make the decision small. Dry woods mean Adaa, sandalwood means Ameeri, and creamy means a different brief. Open the 3ml that matches your word, keep the dose at one, and give it the week. If the week says you chose the wrong wood, the other 3ml settles it cheaply.

Which attar answers which variable

SOSA makes four attars, all alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml. Three of them carry a wood you can name, and they answer your variables differently. The cards give the two that fit a clean woody brief, and the feature shows the one that answers creamy.

SOSA Adaa
Dry woods, the least in the bottle, the default
SOSA Adaa
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four, with no oudh. It answers dryness, a soft musk and a light bottle at once, and it has no sandalwood in its published list.
From ₹379
SOSA Ameeri
Sandalwood named, a step of warmth, no vanilla
SOSA Ameeri
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. It carries some oudh and amber. The one to choose when sandalwood has to be the wood, and the second 3ml if Adaa proves too bare.
From ₹385
SOSA Mastani
The creamy answer, which is a different brief from clean
SOSA Mastani · alcohol-free roll-on attar
₹389 for 3ml, ₹685 for 6ml, ₹1,179 for 12ml. Litchi, bergamot and pink pepper over night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose, on Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. If creamy outranks clean in your five answers, this is the attar for it, but it is a deep floral-gourmand and not a clean woody.

Your first week, day by day

The attars answer the variables on paper. The week answers them on your skin. Three stages, each with one job, and each with a rule about the dose.

1
One
Days one to three: wear one dab and say nothing about it
Apply one dab on the chest or the side of the neck once you are dressed, on three ordinary days, in the kind of clothes and rooms you actually live in. Do not judge in the first ten minutes: the bergamot, neroli and saffron are at their loudest and least representative. Judge at hour three, when the top has gone and the base is what is left. Write one line each evening: dry, smooth or creamy, close or gone. Three lines will tell you more than any page can.
Tip: Keep to one dab. A second would answer a different question: how much, not whether.
SOSA Adaa
Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml is enough for these three days with plenty to spare, with no commitment beyond them.
See SOSA Adaa →
2
Two
Days four and five: adjust the dose, or open the second bottle
If hour three told you the attar was there and right, stay at one dab and change nothing. If it was gone, add a second dab on day four, never before. If it was there but not the wood you meant, this is when the other 3ml earns its place: Ameeri if Adaa was too dry or too bare, Adaa if Ameeri was warmer than you wanted. Wear one on each day and compare at hour three. The comparison is cheap and it is the most informative step.
Tip: Change one thing at a time: dose or bottle, never both on the same day.
SOSA Ameeri
Ameeri at ₹385 for 3ml is the comparison bottle if Adaa was drier than you wanted, with sandalwood and a step of warmth.
See SOSA Ameeri →
3
Three
Days six and seven: decide, and only then look at size
By now your notes say one of three things. The attar is right, and you reach for it. It is nearly right, and the other 3ml fixed it. Or the wood is wrong, and nothing in the range will fix it, which is a useful thing to have learned for the price of one small bottle. Only after that decision does size come in: the 6ml or 12ml of the one you kept, as a decision about how long a bottle lasts you. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin and nothing about reach.
Tip: If the week says no, write to us before you buy anything else. We would rather you left the range than bought a third bottle.
SOSA Mastani
Mastani at ₹389 is the exit if your notes kept saying creamy, and the week is how you find that out.
See SOSA Mastani →
The SOSA principle
Five variables look like five decisions, but they collapse into two: which wood, and how much sweetness you will allow beside it. Everything else, the musk, the price, the size, follows once those are answered.
That is why two questions can choose the bottle. The decider below asks them in plain words, and it ends on a size and a dab rather than a list of families to explore.
SOSA Adaa
Dry woods, soft musk, the least in the bottle: Adaa at ₹379: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over three white flowers, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, with no oudh at all, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml.

The five variables, compared

The table puts your five variables in the order you gave them and says what each one points to. Read it as a set of votes: the attar that collects the most is the bottle, and the count is usually clear.

The SOSA plan
Your five variables, each one beside what it points to in the range
The variable you gave What it points to, and why
SOSA AdaaWoody preference: dry woods or sandalwood
Dry woods vote Adaa, with vetiver and cedarwood under white musk. Sandalwood votes Ameeri, with Indian sandalwood in the heart. This is the variable that most often splits the answer. View →
Musk softness: how quiet should the musk be
No vote. White musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, never the subject, and SOSA makes no musk on its own. It is there, quietly, in whichever you choose.
SOSA MastaniCreaminess: how much is acceptable
Only Mastani has the vanilla and tonka that make a wood creamy. If your answer is little or none, it votes against Mastani. View →
SOSA AdaaDryness: how much do you want
Adaa has the driest base in the range, with no sandalwood, vanilla or oudh listed. Ameeri sits between dry and creamy. View →
SOSA AmeeriBudget: whatever your ceiling is
No vote. The entry size of any attar is the 3ml, and the largest single attar bottle is ₹1,199. Budget decides the size, never the attar. View →

Each variable has its own page if you want the long version. what makes a woody attar wear close to the skin takes the mechanism, a refined unisex attar that is clean with a little warmth takes the balance, sandalwood-musk against vetiver-musk for a dry reader takes the dry fork, and a premium soft woody attar and the characteristics to prioritise takes the budget. For the sandalwood itself, which sandalwood attar reads soft and clean rather than as incense is the start of the set. If you would rather have a person decide, tell us which variable is the hard one and we will answer in plain words.

Two questions, and the bottle chooses itself
Which wood do you reach for first when you imagine it?
  • Sandalwood: smooth, a little milky, rounded
  • Dry woods: vetiver and cedarwood, roots and pencil shavings
How much sweetness may sit beside the wood?
  • None I could name: clean and dry only
  • A little warmth: amber or soft rose is fine
  • Creamy is welcome: vanilla would not bother me
Sandalwood, and a little warmth is fine
SOSA Ameeri is this answer: Indian sandalwood in the heart over soft oudh, amber and white musk, with no vanilla in its list. The 3ml at ₹385, one dab, judged at hour three. Nothing more is needed until the week is over.
Sandalwood, but nothing sweet or warm at all
The range has no sandalwood without some warmth beside it: Ameeri carries amber and soft oudh, and Mastani has vanilla. Adaa is the nearest to your two answers together, with dry woods in place of sandalwood. The 3ml at ₹379 will tell you if that is near enough. If it is not, write to us before you buy anything else.
Sandalwood, and creamy is welcome
SOSA Mastani is the honest answer: Mysore sandalwood with oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. The 3ml is ₹389. It is a deep floral-gourmand, not a clean woody, and I would rather say so than let the title decide for you.
Dry woods, and nothing warm
SOSA Adaa is the whole answer. White musk, vetiver and cedarwood under bergamot, cardamom and neroli, with no oudh. The 3ml at ₹379, one dab, judged at hour three. Nothing more is needed until you have worn it for three ordinary days.
Dry woods, and some warmth after all
Start with the 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379 and let it say whether it is too bare. If it is, SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 for 3ml is the next step, with sandalwood and amber, on day four.
SOSA Ameeri
Sandalwood named, with a step of warmth: Ameeri at ₹385: Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. A warmer, fuller attar that carries some oudh.
Dry woods or sandalwood: two honest answers
The fork is the wood you named in your own head. Adaa is vetiver and cedarwood over white musk, the dry default. Ameeri is Indian sandalwood with a step of warmth. Open the one that matches your word and keep the other for day four.

Five variables are one question asked from five sides, and the answer is rarely a list. It is a bottle, a dab and a week.
— Sonal Sahani, SOSA

The SOSA specification for a clean woody

Two rows. Adaa is the default for dry woods and Ameeri is the answer when sandalwood has to be named. The note underneath says what neither is, where creamy sits if you want it, and what to do if the week says no.

The SOSA specification for a clean woody

Both rows start small: the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379, or the 3ml of Ameeri at ₹385. The larger sizes are a purchase for after the week, not instead of it: ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml for Adaa, and ₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml for Ameeri. If creamy outranks clean, SOSA Mastani at ₹389 is the attar for it. Neither row is a musk on its own, because SOSA makes none; white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab and never the subject. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for the attars and nothing further; how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give. I cannot promise you what anyone else will think of it, and I will not. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and tell us which variable is the hard one.

A note from Sonal

When a message arrives with five variables in it, I know the person has already done most of the work and is waiting for someone to say so. Woody, soft musk, not creamy, dry, a number. Those five are a better brief than most I am given. They tell me the wood matters more than the musk, that sweetness is the thing to avoid, and that the budget is a boundary rather than a goal.

So I answer in the order you gave them. The wood decides between Adaa and Ameeri. The musk does not decide anything, because it is quietly underneath both. The creaminess rules out Mastani unless you have contradicted yourself. The dryness leans Adaa. And the budget decides the size and nothing else. I should be plain that Ameeri carries some oudh and Adaa does not, because that is the one fact a clean reader will care about and the one that is easiest to miss.

Then I ask you to do the part only you can do. One 3ml, one dab, three ordinary days, a line in a notebook each evening, a decision on day six. If the week says you chose the wrong wood, the other 3ml will fix it. If it says nothing in the range is right, I would rather hear that from you than sell you a third bottle. I cannot promise you what anyone else will make of how you smell, so the only measure is yours. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

If I had to choose one bottle without answering the decider, which?
SOSA Adaa, the 3ml at ₹379. It is the lightest of the four, has no oudh, and ends on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood, which is the dry woody floor a clean woody brief asks for. If sandalwood is the wood you named in your own head, swap it for SOSA Ameeri at ₹385.
Does musk softness change which attar I should buy?
Not between the woody attars. White musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab, and it is quiet in all three. SOSA makes no musk on its own, so a reader who wants musk as the whole fragrance will not find it in the range. For a clean woody brief, the musk is the floor and the wood is the choice.
Can I wear Adaa and Ameeri together?
You can, though I would not begin there. Wear each alone through the first week so that you know what each does at hour three. After that, one dab of one on one day and one dab of the other on another is a sensible rotation. Layering both on the same day is a question for week two, not week one.
What if my budget is lower than the 12ml?
Then the 3ml is the whole plan, and it is enough. The 3ml starts at ₹379 for Adaa or ₹385 for Ameeri, and the week above works in full on it. The 6ml at ₹669 sits between the two, and the 12ml is only worth reaching for once you have decided.
What if none of the leaves in the decider fits me?
Then write to us. The range has three woody attars and a few gaps, among them no single-note vetiver, no musk on its own and no tuberose, and if your answers fall into one of the gaps, I would rather say so plainly than sell you the nearest bottle. Tell us what you wear now and what missed.
SOSA Mastani
Creamy outranking clean, and nothing else: Mastani at ₹389 has night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose over Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand, and a different brief from clean woody.
