You have given me six variables, which is more than most people give and enough to answer properly. So the answer comes first: one bottle, one size, one dab and a first week. The working follows, so you can see which variable did what.
Quick answers — read this first
Which everyday attar should I shortlist for hot weather? For a soft, subtle, everyday brief: SOSA Adaa, from ₹379 for 3ml. Bergamot, green cardamom and neroli, then white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, with no oudh.

Which of the six variables changes the bottle? Only one: whether fresh means soft or clear. Soft is Adaa. Clear is Khayaal, a perfume oil. City and climate set the context, the commute sets when you apply, intensity sets the dose and the budget sets the size.

How much do I wear, and when? One dab, on the chest or the side of the neck, applied after you arrive. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence. Judge at hour three, across three ordinary days, before you decide anything else.
The short answer
Short answer: Adaa for soft and subtle, Khayaal for clear and airy. One dab, applied on arrival, judged at hour three. Only the finish you want changes the bottle.
The pick: One 3ml of SOSA Adaa at ₹379, one dab a day, for seven days. SOSA Khayaal from ₹599 for 10ml if clear is your word.
Next step: Follow the first week below, and tell us on day seven how it went. Tell us your six variables if one of them does not fit the answer.
Six variables in, one bottle outCity and climate: they set the day, not the bottleCommute: it sets the clock, after you arriveFreshness: soft is Adaa, clear is KhayaalIntensity and budget: one dab, and a 3ml to startAdaa from Rs 379 for 3ml; a seven-day first week
The six variables from the title, and what each one actually decides. Only the third line changes the bottle; the rest change the clock, the dose or the size, which is why the answer is shorter than the question.
Adaa first; the two warmer attars answer a different question
Straight answer
From City, Climate, Commute, Freshness Preference, Desired Intensity and Budget — Which Everyday Attar Should I Shortlist?
Shortlist Adaa: one 3ml, one dab a day, applied after you arrive, for a week. That is the answer for a soft, subtle, everyday brief, and the five steps below say which variable decided what.

1. City and climate set the day, not the bottle. A humid coast, a commuting city, a place where the weather turns within an afternoon, a long bright summer: each changes how the day is lived and none changes which base is dry. They explain why you want light. They do not choose the fragrance.

2. The commute sets the clock. A private journey leaves the timing open. A crowded one points to applying after you arrive, so the bare stretch is the close one. The reasons are in the timing page and in the page on crowded transport.

3. Freshness preference is the one variable that changes the bottle. Soft, with a little white flower still in it, is SOSA Adaa at ₹379. Clear and airy, with nothing that lingers as a flower, is SOSA Khayaal, a perfume oil, from ₹599 for 10ml.

4. Desired intensity sets the dose. Subtle means one dab, on the chest or the side of the neck. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence, and the habit of two is where an attar stops being subtle. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin, and no more.

5. Budget sets the size. Start on the 3ml. If your ceiling is a thousand rupees, both Adaa's 3ml and its 6ml sit under it at today's listed prices, and a second small bottle fits beside the first. The 12ml is for after a full season.

I cannot promise you what anyone else will make of it, and I will not try. What I can give you is the bottle, the size, the dose and a first week that settle it on your own skin, which is the only place it can be settled.
Shortlist SOSA Adaa at ₹379 for 3ml: one dab, on arrival, judged at hour three, for seven days. Soft is Adaa and clear is Khayaal. Only that preference changes the bottle.
The bottle, the size, the dose and the first week
The product SOSA Adaa, the lightest of the four attars and the only one with no oudh: an alcohol-free roll-on oil on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune. If clear is your word, SOSA Khayaal instead.
The size to start on The 3ml, at ₹379. The 6ml at ₹669 and the 12ml at ₹1,149 come after a full season, once you know the finish is the one you meant.
Dabs, and where One dab, on the chest or the side of the neck, after you arrive. One dab is a whisper and two is a sentence. Do not add a second to make up for a cool room.
At hour three The bergamot and neroli have gone. What is left, by the published pyramid, is white musk with vetiver and cedarwood: dry and close.
The first week Days one to three: one dab on arrival, judged at hour three. Day four: apply before you leave instead and compare. Days five and six: your choice of clock. Day seven: decide on the 6ml, a second small bottle, or nothing more.
What it costs to stay on it Nothing beyond the first 3ml until day seven. If you decide to continue, the larger sizes are ₹669 for 6ml and ₹1,149 for 12ml.
I would give you the answer in one line if I could: Adaa, 3ml, one dab, on arrival. The week is there so you do not take my word for it. By day seven you will know whether the finish was the one you meant, and if it was almost right, I will tell you honestly which way to move.

The variables, one pair at a time

Six variables are easier to hold as three pairs: the setting you live in, the journey and the dose, and the finish and the size. The cards below show the two attars that matter most at the end of that road, and the sections after them take the pairs in turn.

SOSA Adaa
The shortlist for soft, subtle and everyday
SOSA Adaa
₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml. Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, with no oudh. Its 3ml and 6ml both sit under a thousand-rupee ceiling at today's listed prices.
From ₹379
SOSA Ameeri
The warmer step, once the finish is settled
SOSA Ameeri
₹385 for 3ml, ₹679 for 6ml, ₹1,165 for 12ml. Persian saffron, pink pepper and bergamot over Taif rose and Indian sandalwood, on soft oudh, amber and white musk. It carries some oudh and amber, so it announces itself sooner than Adaa. A sensible second bottle for a different day, and not the first.
From ₹385
SOSA Nawaab
The one to be sure about before you let it into this brief
SOSA Nawaab · alcohol-free roll-on attar
₹399 for 3ml, ₹699 for 6ml, ₹1,199 for 12ml. White royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron and aged tobacco leaf over amber, leather and white musk. The deepest of the four and oud-led. A fine attar, and almost never the answer to subtle, everyday and hot, so choose it knowingly and not for this brief.

Why only one of the six changes the bottle

None of this is a promise about your nose. It is a sorting: each pair of variables decides something different, and only the last pair reaches the bottle. Seeing that is most of the work.

1
One
City and climate: the setting explains the brief, not the bottle
Mumbai asks for something that does not build up on a long, close journey. Pune asks for something that suits a ride on a two-wheeler and a lift to the office. Bengaluru asks for something that suits a day that changes its mind. Hyderabad asks for something that does not turn sweet through a long bright summer. Those are four different days and one answer: a short bright top, a dry floor, a small dose. The city explains why you want light. It does not, on its own, pick a bottle.
Tip: If the city is the only thing steering you, you are choosing the wrong variable. Go to the finish you want.
SOSA Ameeri
Ameeri at ₹385 suits a cooler setting better than any city's summer, with saffron, rose, sandalwood and amber.
See SOSA Ameeri →
2
Two
Commute and intensity: when you apply, and how much
The commute decides the clock. A short private journey leaves the timing open, and a crowded or hot one points to applying after you arrive, so the bright opening is met at a desk and not in transit. Desired intensity decides the dose, and for subtle the dose is one dab. These two variables never touch the bottle: they are behaviour, and behaviour is where an attar is won or lost. An over-applied light attar is louder than a well-applied deep one.
Tip: Count your dabs aloud on day one. The commonest way a subtle attar stops being subtle is a second dab.
SOSA Nawaab
Nawaab at ₹399 is oud-led, so even one dab starts fuller than the same dab of Adaa.
See SOSA Nawaab →
3
Three
Freshness and budget: the finish chooses the bottle, the ceiling the size
Here the bottle is finally chosen. Soft, with a little white flower in it, is Adaa. Clear and airy is Khayaal, which is a perfume oil and not an attar. Budget then sets the size: a ceiling of a thousand rupees leaves room for Adaa's 3ml and 6ml, and a second small bottle beside the first, at today's listed prices. The 12ml is for after a full season, and the Attar Trio, which leaves Adaa out, is above that ceiling from its smallest size.
Tip: Spend the first part of the ceiling on finding out, and keep the rest until day seven.
SOSA Attar Trio
The Attar Trio at ₹1,055 is Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani together. It does not include Adaa, so it is not this brief.
See SOSA Attar Trio →
The SOSA principle
Six variables are fewer than they look. Two decide when and how much, two set the context, one sets the size, and only one, whether fresh means soft or clear, ever reaches the bottle.
That is why the answer is shorter than the question. You gave me the complete picture of your week, and almost all of it turns out to be about behaviour, which is free.
SOSA Adaa
The shortlist for soft, subtle and everyday: Adaa at ₹379: Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over three white flowers, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The lightest of the four attars, with no oudh, in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml.

Your six variables, row by row

The table restates each variable in your own words, says what it actually decides, and gives the SOSA answer. Five rows end in behaviour. One ends in a bottle, and it is the finish you want.

The SOSA plan
Six variables, what each decides, and where the SOSA answer lands
Your variable What it decides, and the SOSA answer
City: Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru or Hyderabad
The shape of your day, not the bottle. See Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru and Hyderabad for each setting in turn.
Climate: a hot, long, or changeable season
How much you want from a top, and how fast you want it gone. The answer is a short bright top and a dry base, whichever season it is.
Commute: private, short, or crowded and close
When you apply: after you arrive. A close journey makes that firmer, and leaving the fragrance off for a day is a fair choice.
SOSA AdaaFreshness preference: soft, or clear and airy
The bottle. Soft is Adaa, with a little white flower. Clear is SOSA Khayaal at ₹599 for 10ml, a perfume oil and not an attar. View →
Desired intensity: subtle, or a little more
The dose. Subtle is one dab, on the chest or the side of the neck. A little more is a step to Ameeri, not a second dab of Adaa.
Budget: a ceiling you set
The size. Start on the 3ml. A thousand-rupee ceiling leaves room for the 6ml and for a second small bottle, at today's listed prices.

If one of the six deserves a longer read, the clock, before leaving or on arrival takes up the commute, crowded transport and your own intensity takes up the dose, and the six characteristics to compare under a ceiling takes up the budget. If you would rather have a person decide, send us your six variables and we will answer in plain words, with one bottle and one size.

Answer these two and the bottle chooses itself
How do you get to work, most days?
  • A car, a cab or a short walk, mostly private
  • Metro, train, bus or a long walk in the open, mostly close
What does fresh mean once the first twenty minutes are over?
  • Soft, with a little white flower still in it
  • Clear and airy, nothing that lingers as a flower
Private journey, and soft
SOSA Adaa is the answer: bergamot, green cardamom and neroli, then jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, then white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. The 3ml at ₹379, one dab, applied after you arrive, with the other clock to try on day four. Nothing more is needed until day seven.
Private journey, and clear
SOSA Khayaal is sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood, a perfume oil built for the clear reading. It starts at ₹599 for 10ml. If you want a cheaper first try, the 3ml of Adaa will tell you how close soft comes to what you meant.
Close journey, and soft
Adaa again, with the clock set: one dab on the chest, applied after you arrive, so the close stretch of the day is the bare one. The 3ml at ₹379 is all you need to find out, and nothing more is needed before day seven.
Close journey, and clear
Khayaal, applied after you arrive and in a small amount, or the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379 as the cheaper first test. Neither is silent, and no fragrance is. If a particular journey is too close for any fragrance, leave it off that day. Write to us before you buy anything else.
SOSA Ameeri
If you later want a warmer second bottle: Ameeri at ₹385 adds Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, amber and a little soft oudh to the same white musk. A richer attar, and the sensible second bottle for the cooler months.
Soft or clear: the one fork that matters
Of the six variables, this is the only one that changes the bottle. Adaa is bright, then soft, then dry. Khayaal is sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood, clearer and less floral. Pick the word you would use for your own skin.

The SOSA specification for your six variables

Two rows. Adaa is the answer for the reader whose fresh is soft and dry-skinned, and Khayaal is the answer for the one whose fresh is clear and airy. The note underneath says what neither of them is, and what to do on day seven.

Adaa if your fresh is soft, Khayaal if it is clear
Attar Best for Why it works Price
SOSA Adaa Soft and subtle: a short bright top, a dry musk floor ₹379 for 3ml. Bergamot, green cardamom and neroli over jasmine sambac, magnolia and ylang ylang, on white musk, vetiver and cedarwood. No oudh ₹379
View →
SOSA Khayaal Clear and airy where soft is the wrong word ₹599 for 10ml. Sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea and amberwood. A perfume oil in 10ml, 50ml and 100ml, not an attar ₹599
View →
Both rows start small: the 3ml of Adaa at ₹379, or the 10ml of Khayaal at ₹599. On day seven, decide about the larger sizes: ₹379 for 3ml, ₹669 for 6ml, ₹1,149 for 12ml for Adaa and ₹599 for 10ml, ₹1,899 for 50ml, ₹3,599 for 100ml for Khayaal. SOSA makes no musk-only fragrance, no single-note citrus or green scent, and nothing silent; white musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab and never the subject. SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin for the attars and nothing further; how long any fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day. A patch test on first use is the only skin advice we give, and a workplace or a transit service may have its own rules, which outrank this page. I cannot tell you what anyone else will make of it, and I will not try. Ours is a contact page and a person who replies: Ask for an attar recommendation and send us your six.

A note from Sonal

When a customer sends me six variables, I take it as a good sign, because it means they have thought about their week. The reply that does them the most good is the shortest one. City, climate, commute, preference, intensity and budget sound like six questions, and they are really one question and five settings. The question is whether fresh means soft or clear. The settings are everything else, and none of them costs a rupee to change.

That is why I am happy to give you a first week and not a product list. One 3ml, one dab, three days on arrival, one day before you leave, two days of your choice, and then a decision on day seven. If the finish is the one you meant, you are finished and the rest of your ceiling is yours. If it is almost right, write to me and I will say which way to move. If nothing in the range does what you asked, I will say that too.

What I will not do is promise you an effect on anyone else. I cannot tell you what another person will make of what you wear, and a perfumer who says otherwise is selling you something other than fragrance. What I can promise is what each bottle is built from, and that I have told you the truth about the gaps in the range. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.

Frequently asked questions

Which of the six variables matters most?
Freshness preference, because it is the only one that changes the bottle. Soft is SOSA Adaa at ₹379; clear is SOSA Khayaal from ₹599. The commute, the dose and the budget change when you apply, how much and what size, and the city and climate explain why you want light in the first place.
What if my city is not on your list?
Then the answer still holds, because the city never chose the bottle. Describe your day in a sentence: how you travel, how long you are outdoors, how close the journey gets. Write to us at the contact page and a person will reply with one bottle and one size. Ask for an attar recommendation.
What if I want something stronger than one dab?
Take a step towards a warmer attar rather than a second dab. SOSA Ameeri at ₹385 carries Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, amber and a little soft oudh. It is a different brief from this page, and the honest advice is to finish the first week before you buy it.
Can I wear it every day?
Yes, it is made as an everyday roll-on, and SOSA states 6–8 hours on skin. Keep to the one dab, on arrival, and treat the first week as a test. After day seven it is simply a habit, and the 6ml or 12ml are for when you know.
What if neither Adaa nor Khayaal fits?
Then tell us what missed. SOSA makes no single-note citrus, green or musk scent, and nothing silent, and if that is the shape of your brief, no bottle in the range is it and I will say so. Write to us and we will answer plainly.
SOSA Mastani
The attar to leave out of this particular search: Mastani at ₹389 has night-blooming jasmine and Damask rose over Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla and tonka. A deep floral-gourmand, and a long way from subtle and hot.

About this guide: Written by Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained founder and perfumer at SOSA Home & Body. Product recommendations reflect the SOSA range and its published note lists; the guidance on timing, dose and size applies to any brand.

Facts verified 16 October 2026 against the live SOSA product pages: SOSA makes four attars, all alcohol-free, DPG-free roll-on perfume oils on a sandalwood and jojoba carrier, hand-blended in Pune and sold in 3ml, 6ml and 12ml, with a stated wear of 6–8 hours on skin: Adaa (top Calabrian bergamot, green cardamom, neroli; heart jasmine sambac, magnolia, ylang ylang; base white musk, vetiver, cedarwood; no oudh) from ₹379, Ameeri (top Persian saffron, pink pepper, bergamot; heart Taif rose, Indian sandalwood; base soft oudh, amber, white musk) from ₹385, Mastani (top litchi, bergamot, pink pepper; heart night-blooming jasmine, Damask rose; base Mysore sandalwood, oudh, Madagascar vanilla, tonka) from ₹389 and Nawaab (top white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron, aged tobacco leaf; base amber, leather, white musk) from ₹399, plus the Attar Trio (Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani) from ₹1,055. Khayaal is a perfume oil, not an attar (sparkling bergamot, neroli, black tea, amberwood), from ₹599 for 10ml. White musk is a base note in Adaa, Ameeri and Nawaab; SOSA makes no pure musk soliflore. SOSA also makes no single-note green or vetiver soliflore, lavender or herbal-spa scent, incense-resin scent, or tuberose. The budget ceiling discussed on this page belongs to the reader, and statements about what fits under it hold at the listed prices on the date above. Compositions are made in India to IFRA standards and are phthalate-free; a patch test on first use is the only skin advice offered. Fragrance is a grooming and personal-style decision. SOSA makes no medical, clinical, dermatological or therapeutic claim of any kind, and no claim that a fragrance affects how anyone is perceived. How long a fragrance lasts depends on skin, dose, clothing and the day, and varies from person to person. A portion of every purchase supports Nanhi Kali.
