Hand-blended in small batches. Cruelty-free and vegan.
Composed by a trained perfumer
Sonal Sahani, ISIPCA Versailles-trained, composes the whole range.
A portion funds girl-child education
Part of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

Four attars in two registers is a house point of view, not a discovery kit. Where that is the wrong answer, these guides say so.

Founder Diaries · Attar Gifting
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 11 min read Updated September 2026
Notice where the overwhelm actually comes from. A shop asks somebody to compare a dozen unfamiliar things in one afternoon, on skin that stopped registering anything after the fourth, with an assistant waiting for a verdict. Almost nobody is good at that, and being bad at it says nothing whatsoever about whether you have taste. Wearing is the opposite exercise: one scent, one day, clean skin, no audience, and weeks to notice things in. The gift worth giving is not a smaller version of the shop. It is the thing that lets him stop shopping altogether.
Quick answers — read this first
Will a three-attar set give a beginner three clearly different experiences? Not clearly different, no. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani share oudh and sandalwood and all three are evening scents, so the differences between them are real but fine. A beginner's nose reads coarse differences long before fine ones, and somebody new to fragrance will very often describe all three as versions of the same thing.

What teaches a beginner more, three similar scents or two different ones? Two different ones. Adaa is bergamot and green cardamom; Ameeri is Taif rose over Indian sandalwood and saffron. Those two are far enough apart that the difference is obvious without any vocabulary, and together they cost about ₹764 at 3ML. He also already owns a fresh fragrance, which makes a third reference point he has been wearing for years.

How do you help somebody describe what they like without technical language? Stop asking for descriptions and ask for choices. After a fortnight of alternating two genuinely different scents, the useful question is not what does it smell of but which one did you reach for on the day you had something on. Preferences show up in behaviour long before they show up in words.
The short answer
Short answer: Overwhelm comes from comparing many unfamiliar things at once, so the gift's job is to replace shopping with wearing - and two bottles that genuinely differ teach a beginner more than three that share a base.
The pick: two 3ML bottles, Adaa at ₹379 and Ameeri at ₹385 - about ₹764 together, with the fresh bottle he already owns as the third point of comparison.
Honest note: the set is fixed and all three scents sit in one register, so it is depth rather than contrast. Adaa, the one bright scent, is not in it.
The trio, and the alternative - at a glanceThe trio is one register: rose, oud, sandalwood. Three eveningsFixed set ₹1,055 · Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani · Adaa not includedWant contrast? Three chosen 3ML from ₹1,153 - three boxesAlcohol-free oil · worn at the wrist
SOSA's three-attar set is a fixed pairing of Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani at Rs 1,055 for three 3ML bottles. All three sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals, built for evenings. If what you want is contrast rather than depth, the route is three 3ML singles chosen yourself, from Rs 1,153, which is the only way to include Adaa, the one bright scent in the range. Those arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set.
Straight answer
Can three small attars teach somebody new to fragrance what he actually likes?
Two can. Three of these cannot, and the reason is worth a paragraph.

What the fixed set contains. Ameeri - Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh. Nawaab - white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron. Mastani - night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh. Those are three real compositions and an experienced nose will tell them apart at once. A beginner very often will not. Shared oudh and shared sandalwood put all three in one family, and what somebody new hears is the family, not the differences inside it. Hand a man who wears one fresh fragrance three bottles of that, and the report you get back is "they were all nice", which is exactly the sentence you were trying to get past.

What to buy instead. Two bottles that are obviously unlike each other. Adaa at ₹379 for 3ML - bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk - and Ameeri at ₹385. That is about ₹764, and the gap between them needs no vocabulary at all: one is bright and dry, the other is a flower standing on wood. Adaa is not in the fixed set, so this route is the only way it reaches him.

And the third bottle is already in his bathroom. This is the part people miss. He owns a fresh fragrance he has worn for years, which means he already has a reference point more reliable than anything you can buy - he knows exactly what it does and how he feels wearing it. Two new bottles beside that make a comparison set of three, and the one he knows best is doing the most useful work in it.

Then ask a better question. Not what does it smell of, which is the question that made shopping unbearable. Ask which one he put on when it mattered. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
One line: replace shopping with wearing, buy two bottles far enough apart that the difference needs no words, and count the fresh fragrance he already owns as the third point of comparison.
The fixed set is the wrong shape for this. Choose three 3ML singles yourself - any three of the four, ₹1,153 to ₹1,173 - which is the only route that includes Adaa, the one bright scent in the range. It costs about a hundred rupees more than the set, and it arrives as three boxes rather than one.

Replacing shopping with wearing

Three things decide whether a discovery gift teaches anybody anything, and bottle count is the least of them.

1
Where the overwhelm lives
A shop is a bad instrument, and a smaller shop is still a shop
Comparing unfamiliar scents in an afternoon is genuinely hard, and it is hard for reasons that have nothing to do with taste: fatigue sets in fast, everything is on paper rather than skin, and somebody is waiting. A gift that reproduces that in miniature - here are three, tell me which - reproduces the difficulty too. Wearing removes all three problems at once. One scent a day, on his own skin, with no verdict due. The bottles are just the instrument; the change you are actually giving him is the setting.
Tip: He is not bad at fragrance. He is bad at shops, and so is nearly everybody.
2
Resolution
Match the size of the gap to the nose reading it
A trained nose resolves fine differences; a new one resolves coarse ones first. That is not a deficiency, it is simply how the skill develops. So the useful gift makes the first gap a large one. Adaa against Ameeri is a large gap - bright citrus and cardamom against rose standing on sandalwood - and he will hear it on the first wearing. Nawaab against Ameeri is a smaller one, genuinely interesting, and the wrong place to start.
3
The bottle he already owns
His comparison set already has a member
He has worn one fresh fragrance for years. That makes it the most thoroughly known scent in his life and the only fixed point he has. Treat it as part of the gift rather than as the thing the gift replaces: two new bottles beside it give him three positions, one of which he can already describe in behavioural terms even if not in perfumery ones. That also reframes the budget - you are not buying a wardrobe, you are buying two additions to one that has a member in it.
Tip: You are buying two bottles, not three. The third has been on his shelf for years.
The SOSA principle
Three scents sharing a base are not three experiences to a beginner. They are one experience, three times.
Make the first gap a wide one. Two bottles that are obviously unlike each other teach more in a fortnight than three carefully related ones teach in a season.

Two new bottles, and the one he already owns

Start from what he already wears, then buy the fewest bottles that produce an obvious difference.

The SOSA attar edit
What to buy for somebody new to fragrance who cannot yet describe it
Option Who it suits, and what it costs
The two-bottle starter Adaa at ₹379 and Ameeri at ₹385 - about ₹764 at 3ML. One bright, one a flower on wood.
If you only want to buy one Adaa at ₹379, or ₹669 at 6ML. It starts nearest to the fresh fragrance he already wears, so nothing about it is a leap.
The fixed three-attar set Not here. Three oudh-based evening scents read as one thing to a new nose, however different they are to a trained one. ₹1,055.
You want three bottles regardless Three 3ML singles chosen yourself, ₹1,153 to ₹1,173. About a hundred rupees more than the set, in three boxes rather than one gift set.

If the person you are buying for is at the very start rather than mid-way, New to fragrance covers the first purchase in more detail. If the specific obstacle is that he has no words for any of it, She lacks the vocabulary is about exactly that gap. Adaa and Ameeri are where this one ends up.

Tell us what they already wear
Send us the bottle they have worn for years, or just how they describe it - bright, heavy, sweet, clean. If the fixed set is the wrong register for that person, we will say so and tell you which three to pick instead.
Gift enquiry
The gift is not a smaller shop. It is the thing that lets him stop shopping.

The SOSA attar edit

Every SOSA attar is alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist, hand-blended in small batches in India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali. Here is the edit by what you actually know about the person's taste, which is what decides whether a fixed set or three chosen bottles is the right answer.

The SOSA attar edit
Five answers by what you actually know about their taste - from ₹1,055 to ₹1,859
Option Best for What it is, honestly From
The three-attar set, 3ML x 3 They already wear rose, oud or big florals Ameeri, Nawaab, Mastani - one register, three evenings. Fixed: Adaa is not in it ₹1,055
Three chosen 3ML singles You want contrast, not depth Any three of the four, chosen by you. The only route that includes Adaa. Three boxes, not one set ₹1,153
One 12ML of a scent you are sure of You know exactly what they wear A size they finish rather than sample, when guessing is not required ₹1,149
The three-attar set, 6ML x 3 The same three, in a size that lasts Where the trio is right and 3ML would run out too quickly ₹1,859
Solid perfume tin 15g When a roll-on is not right Solid balm in a metal tin - nothing to spill, nothing to leak in a bag ₹500

Four honest notes. The three-attar set is fixed - Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani, in one size tier at a time. Adaa, the bergamot and cardamom one, is not in it, so if the brighter style is what the person wears, that means buying Adaa separately. All three trio scents sit in the same register - rose, oud, sandalwood and heavy florals - so the set is depth rather than contrast; if contrast is the point, choose three 3ML singles yourself and know that they arrive as three boxes rather than one gift set, because there is no build-your-own set on the store. SOSA's attars are alcohol-free oil worn at the wrist; the designer-inspired line is an alcohol-based spray and a different product entirely, and SOSA is independent and not affiliated with any fragrance house it names. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

The hardest fragrance gift is not the one where you know nothing. It is the one where you know just enough. You can name the bottle they have worn for six years. You also know that buying it again is not a gift, it is a refill - and that buying something wildly different is a coin toss with your money on it.

So people reach for a set, and most fragrance sets quietly mislead. They are sold as exploration when they are really one house's single idea, broken into three bottles. I would rather tell you what ours actually is. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani are three evenings, not three directions. Rose, oud, sandalwood, saffron, night jasmine. If the person you are buying for already lives in that register, the set is genuinely good and the discount is real. If they wear something bright and fresh, it is the wrong set, and no amount of my writing changes that.

The answer in that case is not a different set. It is three bottles you pick yourself - and yes, that costs about a hundred rupees more than the fixed three, and yes, they arrive in three boxes rather than one. I would rather you knew both of those things before you ordered than after. Adaa is the only bright one we make, and it is not in the set. A portion of every order supports girl-child education.

Frequently asked questions

Are the three scents in the set different enough for a beginner?
To an experienced nose, yes. To somebody who has worn one fresh fragrance for years, usually not. Ameeri, Nawaab and Mastani share oudh and sandalwood and all three are evening scents, so a new wearer tends to register the shared family rather than the differences inside it. That produces a pleasant gift and very little information.
What two attars are furthest apart in the SOSA range?
Adaa and Nawaab. Adaa is bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac and white musk; Nawaab is white royal oud with Mysore sandalwood and Kashmir saffron. For a first pair I would still suggest Adaa and Ameeri at about Rs 764 together, because Ameeri keeps a flower in front and makes a gentler second bottle than the most concentrated scent in the range.
How should he actually use two bottles to work out what he likes?
Alternate them across a fortnight, one per day, on skin rather than on card, and pay attention to behaviour rather than to description. Which one did he put on before something he cared about? Which one did he reapply? Those answers arrive long before the vocabulary does, and they are more reliable.
Should I buy a bigger bottle so he has enough to experiment with?
3ML is enough for a fortnight of wearings, which is enough to produce a preference. If he settles on one, buy that one at 6ML or 12ML afterwards - Rs 669 to Rs 699, or Rs 1,149 to Rs 1,199. Buying the large size first is the guess this whole approach is designed to avoid.
Is an attar a strange first thing to give somebody who only knows sprays?
It is unfamiliar, which cuts both ways. The oil goes on at the wrist rather than into the air, so it sits closer and there is no alcohol opening. Tell him that when you hand it over - a single sentence about how to apply it removes the only real obstacle, and the format itself often turns out to be the part he finds interesting.

SOSA does not sort fragrance by the gender of the wearer - every scent is recommended here on what a person has said they like.

SOSA attars, specified: alcohol-free concentrated fragrance oil in a roll-on bottle, applied at the wrist rather than sprayed. Four scents: Adaa (bergamot, green cardamom, jasmine sambac, white musk - the one bright scent in the range), Ameeri (Taif rose, Indian sandalwood, Persian saffron, soft oudh), Mastani (night-blooming jasmine, damask rose, oudh) and Nawaab (white royal oud, Mysore sandalwood, Kashmir saffron). Ameeri, Mastani and Nawaab share oudh, sandalwood and rose materials and sit in one register; Adaa is the outlier.
