Founder Diaries · Car Perfumes, Parking & How a Car Is Actually Used
By Sonal Sahani · ISIPCA Versailles 10 min read Updated September 2026
Yes - the driving days, and it is not a close call. There are three different calendars running in your car and it is easy to mix them up. There is the charging calendar, which happens twice a week with nobody inside. There is the parking calendar, which is most of every day and also has nobody inside. And there is the occupied calendar, which is the short commute, and it is the only one of the three with a human being in it. A car perfume is bought for the third. Once you separate them, the frequency question stops being a matter of opinion and becomes a matter of division.
SOSA car perfume, spray or hanging, from Rs 449
SOSA car perfume · spray or hanging, same price · nine scents from ₹449 →
The decision behind almost every version of this question, and it is not about the car: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and published at 100 sprays - three months and more at one a day, fifty days at two. The 12ml hanging is the same price, published at 4 to 6 weeks, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. Nothing here changes with the powertrain.
Quick answers — read this first
Should car fragrance frequency follow the charging schedule or the driving days? The driving days, every time. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it; a car on a charger is a car with nobody in it, which is the same as a car in a parking bay. The thing you are buying for is the journey. A 10ml SOSA spray is ₹449 to ₹549 and holds 100 sprays, so tie it to the drives and the arithmetic looks after itself.

How long will a bottle last on a short commute? That depends entirely on your own rate, and the number makes it easy. A 10ml is 100 sprays, published as 3 months and above at one spray a day and 50 days at two a day. Five drives a week at one spray each is about twenty a month. Two presses each way on the same five days is roughly double. Neither is wrong - only one of them matches what most buyers expect.

Does a short commute argue for the hanging instead of the spray? It can, and they cost the same for the same scent, so it is a habit question rather than a budget one. A 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. For a short commute it is working continuously for a car that is occupied briefly - which some people want precisely so they never have to decide.
The short answer
Short answer: Follow the driving days. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it - a car on a charger has nobody in it, exactly like a parked one. A SOSA 10ml spray is Rs 449 to Rs 549 and holds 100 sprays, which is 3 months and above at one a day or 50 days at two. Tie it to journeys and the arithmetic settles itself.
The pick: A 10ml SOSA car perfume spray, ₹449 to ₹549 - 100 sprays, spent on the journeys rather than on the calendar the charger keeps.
Why: Only one of the three schedules in a car has a person in it. Fragrance is bought for that one, and a spray is the format that can be tied to it.
What the car runs on is not the variable. How it is used is.On demand - 10ml spray ₹449 to ₹549, published at 100 spraysContinuous - 12ml hanging, same price, 4 to 6 weeksVentilate a hot or long-shut cabin before you judge itNever - fragrance instead of finding a smell's source
A car spends most of its life empty. The hours that matter are the ones somebody is sitting in it, and on a typical commute that is one or two out of twenty-four. The useful decision is therefore not which product lasts longest while nobody is there - it is whether you want fragrance you switch on or fragrance that simply runs. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays, which is three months at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks and its stopper loosens for more or tightens for less. Nothing here depends on what is under the bonnet.
Straight answer
I charge my hatchback only twice a week because my commute is short - should fragrance frequency follow the days I actually drive rather than the charging schedule?
The driving days, without hesitation, and the reason is worth holding on to. Your car keeps three separate calendars. The charger runs twice a week with the doors shut and nobody inside. The parking bay runs almost continuously, also with nobody inside. The commute runs five mornings and five evenings, and it is the only one of the three with a person in it. A car perfume is bought for the person, so it follows the person. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it - no petrol product, no diesel product, no electric product and no claim that any of this changes with what turns the wheels. Twice-weekly charging tells you something about your battery and nothing about your cabin. Tie the habit to the drives and the numbers become easy. A SOSA 10ml spray is ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon and ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze, and it is published at 100 sprays, which the pages give as 3 months and above at one spray a day, or 50 days at two a day. Five drives a week at one press each is around twenty a month, so a bottle that lasts you well past a quarter. One press each way on the same five days is roughly forty a month. Spraying before every short errand as well is where a bottle goes in under a month - that is a choice about how you want the car to be, not a fault in the product. The alternative is the 12ml hanging at the same price for the same scent, running 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in refillable glass with a stopper that loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. For a short commute it is working all week for a car that is occupied briefly, which is either waste or convenience depending on how much you want to think about it. One limit, as always: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin and does not remove, neutralise or mask an odour, so a car that has changed is a question about the car. A portion of every SOSA order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.
Three calendars, one person. Fragrance follows the calendar with somebody in it.
The quick version: follow the journeys. A 10ml spray at ₹449 to ₹549 holds 100 sprays and is spent only when you press it - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two. A 12ml hanging at the same price runs 4 to 6 weeks and keeps its own calendar whether you drive or not. Same scent, same price, two different relationships with your week.
SOSA car perfumes from ₹449

Three schedules in one car, and only one of them has a person in it

Almost every frequency question in this category is really a question about which calendar you are working from. Here are the three, and what each one is actually good for.

01
The charging calendar
Twice a week, doors shut, nobody inside - and no published relevance
Let us dispose of this one properly, because the question is phrased around it. SOSA publishes no claim about charging of any kind, and there is no petrol, diesel or electric product in the range to attach one to. A car on a charger is a car sitting still with the doors closed. So is a car outside an office for eight hours. So is a car on a driveway on a Sunday. The charger is a fact about the battery, and the cabin does not participate in it. Where an overnight or twice-weekly charge genuinely matters is that it fixes where the car sits and for how long - which is a parking fact, and parking facts are real. It is just that a petrol hatchback in the same spot has identical ones.
Tip: A charging schedule is a battery schedule. The cabin is not on it.
02
The occupied calendar
Five short drives a week, and this is the one you are buying for
Now the useful one. A short commute means perhaps twenty minutes each way, five days a week - somewhere between three and four hours a week with a person in the car. That is the entire window in which a car perfume does anything for anybody. Tying the habit to it is both the obvious move and the one that keeps the arithmetic honest: a 10ml is 100 sprays, and the pages publish the working as 3 months and above at one a day, or 50 days at two a day. Five mornings a week at one press is about twenty a month. Add the evening drive and it is about forty. Add two weekend errands with a press before each and you are at a different bottle entirely. Decide the rate first and the bottle life stops being a surprise.
03
The format decides who keeps the schedule
A spray follows your calendar; a hanging keeps its own
This is the real choice underneath the question, and the price is identical either way, so nothing here is about money. A spray does nothing until you press it, which means it follows the driving days exactly and spends nothing on the days the car does not move. A hanging runs continuously - 4 to 6 weeks per 12ml bottle in refillable glass, adjustable at the stopper - which means it keeps its own calendar regardless of yours, and on a week where you drive twice it is still running seven days. Some people find that wasteful and some find it exactly the point, because it removes the decision from the morning altogether. There is no right answer here, only a right answer for you, and it turns on whether you want to think about the car at all.
Tip: Same price, same scent. One follows your week; the other follows its own.
SOSA Mysore Orange Blossom car perfume spray, 10ml and 50ml
The one number that settles most of this
A 10ml spray is 100 sprays. The rest is division.
SOSA publishes the count on the bottle: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, and the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The pages state the working too - three months and above at one spray a day, and fifty days at two a day. That turns a vague question into an arithmetic one. Spray before every journey and somebody making four short trips a day is out of a 10ml in about twenty-five days; the same bottle in the hands of somebody who sprays once each morning lasts the published three months. Neither is wrong - but only one of them is what the person expected when they bought it. Work out your own number before you decide the product is not lasting, because a hundred sprays is a hundred sprays regardless of how the car is powered.
See Mysore Orange Blossom from ₹549 →
Work it out in this order
Set the schedule from the journeys, in four steps
  1. Count the drives a week that actually have somebody in them. Ignore the charger.
  2. Pick a rate and write it down. One press a drive, or one a day, or neither.
  3. A 10ml is 100 sprays, so divide. That is your bottle life, not a marketing figure.
  4. If you would rather not decide each time, the hanging is the same price.
The SOSA principle
Fragrance follows the person, not the plug. Work out how many journeys a week actually have somebody in them, and the frequency answers itself.
The charging schedule is the most visible calendar in an owner's week, which is precisely why it gets mistaken for the relevant one.

Which format suits a short commute, and which scent is worth the bottle

A short commute means you meet the scent in concentrated bursts rather than living in it, which makes the choice worth taking seriously. Vetiver at ₹509 is dry and grassy and holds up well to being met twice a day; Sandalwood at ₹479 is the warmer wood beside it. Oud at ₹509 is published as the deepest of the nine. At the softer end, Jasmine at ₹449 is the entry price of the range and Lavender at ₹479 the softest on the pages' own ordering. The bright three are Icy Mint at ₹489, Lemon at ₹499 and Sea Breeze at ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom at ₹549 is spray only and has no hanging or refill.

The SOSA gift edit
Four ways to schedule fragrance on a short commute, and where each one fails
The option Who it suits, and where it fails
A 10ml spray tied to the drives, ₹449 to ₹549 100 sprays, spent only on journeys with somebody in them. It fails if you want the car ready before you reach it, and it fails on a distracted week when a second reflex press doubles your rate without your noticing.
A 12ml hanging, the same price 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion, stopper adjustable, and no decision required of you ever. It fails on a short-commute car by spending most of its life on an empty cabin - and it cannot be turned up for one long Sunday drive and back down after.
A spray combo, ₹899 to ₹949 Two 10ml bottles, 200 sprays, published as 100 days at two a day rotating. It genuinely suits somebody who wants a different direction for weekday drives and weekend ones. It fails as a starting point, because you are choosing two scents before proving one.
The Discovery Set, ₹699 to ₹2,999 Three sprays from nine published combinations, or all nine at ₹2,999, which is the honest way to find your direction before committing. It fails if you already know what you want, and the combinations are fixed - you pick from the published list rather than composing one.
SOSA Lavender car perfume, spray and hanging formats
The format choice, and why price does not decide it
Spray or hanging - the same price, scent for scent
This is the unusual part of the SOSA car range and it makes the decision cleaner than it usually is: the spray and the hanging cost the same for any given scent - ₹449 for Jasmine, ₹479 for Lavender and Sandalwood, ₹489 for Icy Mint, ₹499 for Lemon, ₹509 for Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze. So you are not trading money against convenience; you are choosing between fragrance you decide to have and fragrance that is simply there. The spray is 100 sprays in 10ml and you control every one of them. The hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks in refillable glass and asks nothing of you, and its stopper is the strength control - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler. One further practical difference that decides it for some people: 15ml refills exist for the hanging and there is no spray refill at all.
See SOSA car perfumes from ₹449 →

Two things about the range that bear directly on a light-mileage car. There is no spray refill - a spray is replaced rather than topped up - while the hanging takes 15ml refills at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents in refillable glass, and Orange Blossom has no refill in either form. And the 50ml at ₹1,499 is 500 sprays, published as about a year and more, which is the right size once a rate is settled and the wrong one while you are still discovering it. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated and tested for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity - a formulation statement rather than a performance claim. Bulk orders are welcome through WhatsApp, with no published rates or minimums to quote.

The premise worth rejecting before anything else
A fragrance does not know what is turning the wheels.
There is no petrol product, no diesel product and no electric product in the SOSA range, and SOSA publishes nothing whatsoever about powertrain - because a perfume in a closed cabin behaves the same way whether that cabin is being pushed along by a battery or an engine. What genuinely differs between two owners is everything else: where the car is parked and for how long, how many separate journeys it makes in a day, how many of those hours anybody is actually inside it, whether the windows are open, and who else is in the car. Those are real variables and they change the answer completely. The published figures speak to them directly: a 10ml spray is 100 sprays, which is three months and more at one a day and fifty days at two; a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks continuously with a stopper that loosens for more and tightens for less; the 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. So when two people with identical cars need different answers, it is never because one of them is electric.

One message, one honest recommendation
Tell SOSA how many hours a day somebody is actually sitting in the car, where it is parked and for how long, whether the windows are usually open or shut, and who else drives it - and you will be told which format and how much, including the times the honest answer is the hanging at the same price because you would rather not think about it.

The charging schedule is the most visible calendar in an owner's week, and it is the least relevant one to what the cabin is like. Count the journeys instead.

The SOSA gifting range

Two questions settle almost every car fragrance decision, and neither of them is what the car runs on. How many hours a day is somebody actually sitting in it? A 25 km commute is about an hour; a field job can be four. That number decides how much of what you buy is experienced by anybody at all, because the rest of the day is a sealed cabin in a parking bay. Then: do you want fragrance you switch on, or fragrance that simply runs? The 10ml spray holds 100 sprays and does nothing until you press it; the 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks whether anybody is there or not, and its stopper loosens for stronger or tightens for subtler. They cost the same for the same scent, so price does not decide it - which is unusual, and useful.

Start from what the gift demands, not from what it costs
Product What it is What it is for Price
SOSA car perfume spray - 10ml Fragrance you switch on ₹449 to ₹549 across nine scents. Published at 100 sprays - 3 months and above at one a day, 50 days at two a day. A fine-mist atomizer; one spray covers the cabin from ₹449
SOSA car hanging - 12ml Fragrance that simply runs The same price as the spray, scent for scent. Published at 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle, and the stopper adjusts it - loosen for stronger, tighten for subtler from ₹449
SOSA car perfume spray - 50ml The long-run size ₹1,499, published at 500 sprays and about a year and more. The honest size when you already know the routine, and the wrong one while you are still working it out ₹1,499
Car perfume combos Two scents, one purchase ₹899 for Jasmine & Lemon or Jasmine & Lavender; ₹949 for Oud + Lemon or Sandalwood & Oud. Spray combo (2 x 10ml) or hanging combo (2 x 12ml) at the same price. Four published pairs from ₹899
Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set Three to try ₹699 to ₹899 for three sprays, or ₹2,999 for all nine. Nine published combinations, and those nine are the whole range - none is composed to order from ₹699
Hanging refills - 15ml Only the hanging refills ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents. There is no spray refill, and Orange Blossom has no refill at all - so if refilling matters, that decides the format for you from ₹399
SOSA Safar The powered option ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. A different category from a spray or a hanging, and listed here so you can rule it in or out rather than wonder from ₹3,999

The fact that answers most of these questions is a division sum. A 10ml spray is published at 100 sprays. Somebody who sprays before each of four short daily trips empties it in about twenty-five days; somebody who sprays once a day gets the published three months and more. The 50ml is 500 sprays and about a year and more. The 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks instead, continuously, and its stopper adjusts the strength - loosen for more, tighten for less. Spray and hanging are the same price scent for scent, so the choice is genuinely about how you want to use the car rather than what you want to spend. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent humidity, made in India. Fragrance adds a scent to a cabin; it does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour and it does not clean the air - so a car that has developed a smell is a question about the car, not about the perfume. Prices above are published retail prices; bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available, with quantities settled on WhatsApp at +91 96192 18531. SOSA is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, sending orders across India. A portion of every order supports girl-child education through Nanhi Kali.

A note from Sonal

We get asked which car perfume is right for an electric car, and I have never been able to give the answer the question wants. There isn't one. A fragrance sits in a closed box of air with a person in it, and that box does not behave differently because the thing moving it is a battery. If anyone tells you otherwise they are selling you a category, not a product.

What I can tell you is what actually changes between two owners, because it is not subtle. One car is occupied ninety minutes a day and another is occupied six. One sits in a basement and one bakes outdoors for nine hours. One has the windows down for the first ten minutes of every drive and one never opens them at all. One is driven by three people who want three different things from it. Those differences are enormous, and none of them is on the spec sheet of the car.

So the numbers I would want you to hold on to are the ones about use rather than about chemistry. A 10ml spray is a hundred sprays. That is three months if you spray once a day and about fifty days if you spray twice, and if you spray before every one of four short errands it is gone in under a month. The hanging runs four to six weeks and you can loosen or tighten the stopper to change it. Those two facts settle more of these questions than anything I could tell you about the car.

And the part I will not pretend about: a perfume cannot fix a smell. It adds a scent, it does not remove one. If a car has started smelling of something it did not smell of before, that is a question about the car - the air-conditioning, the mats, something in the boot, water that got in during the monsoon - and adding fragrance on top of it is the one thing I would ask you not to do.

Frequently asked questions

Should I spray on charging days or driving days?
Driving days. Charging is not a fragrance variable and SOSA publishes nothing about it - a car on a charger has its doors shut and nobody inside, which is the same as a car in any parking bay. Fragrance exists for the journey, so tie it to the journeys. On a short commute that is usually one press as you get in, five mornings a week.
How long does a 10ml bottle last at one spray a drive?
A 10ml is published at 100 sprays, set out as 3 months and above at one a day, or 50 days at two a day. Five mornings a week at one press each is around twenty a month, which puts you comfortably past a quarter on one bottle. Adding the evening drive roughly doubles the rate. The arithmetic is yours to run and it is the most useful published figure in the range.
Does a car that is driven less need less fragrance?
It uses less, which is not quite the same thing. A spray is spent per press, so fewer journeys simply means the bottle lasts longer at the same strength per drive. A hanging is different: it runs 4 to 6 weeks of continuous diffusion whether the car moves or not, so a lightly used car spends the same bottle on far fewer journeys.
Does charging twice a week rather than nightly change anything about the cabin?
Only in the sense that it fixes where the car sits and for how long, which is a parking fact rather than an electrical one. SOSA publishes no petrol, diesel or electric product and no claim about charging. The variables that genuinely matter are how long the car stays shut, whether you ventilate it, how long anybody is inside and who else drives it.
Is the Discovery Set a sensible way to find my rate and my scent?
It is a sensible way to find the scent. Three sprays come from nine published combinations, Rs 699 to Rs 899 for a trio and Rs 2,999 for all nine, and those combinations are fixed rather than assembled to order. Your rate is a separate exercise: pick one bottle, decide a press per drive, and watch how the 100 sprays go down over a month.

Specifications verified from the live SOSA product pages, September 2026: SOSA publishes nine car perfume scents. Eight are sold in two formats at the same price per scent - a 10ml spray and a 12ml hanging: Jasmine ₹449; Lavender and Sandalwood ₹479; Icy Mint ₹489; Lemon ₹499; Oud, Vetiver and Sea Breeze ₹509. Mysore Orange Blossom is spray only, ₹549 in 10ml. A 50ml spray is ₹1,499. The published quantities are: 10ml equals 100 sprays, stated as three months and above at one spray a day and fifty days at two a day; 50ml equals 500 sprays, stated as about a year and more; a spray combo is 200 sprays; and a 12ml hanging runs 4 to 6 weeks, that is 28 to 42 days, of continuous diffusion in a refillable glass bottle whose stopper loosens for stronger and tightens for subtler. Four combos are published - Jasmine & Lemon and Jasmine & Lavender at ₹899, Oud + Lemon and Sandalwood & Oud at ₹949 - each as a spray combo of 2 x 10ml or a hanging combo of 2 x 12ml at the same price. The Car Perfume Sprays Discovery Set publishes nine combinations, ₹699 to ₹899 for three and ₹2,999 for all nine; those nine are the entire set range and none is composed to order. Hanging refills are 15ml at ₹399 to ₹449 across eight scents; there is no spray refill and Orange Blossom has no refill. Everything is alcohol-free, phthalate-free, paraben-free and IFRA-compliant, formulated for 45 degrees C heat and 85 per cent relative humidity, made in India. SOSA Safar is ₹3,999, or ₹4,499 for the hotel-inspired sets. What is not published, and is therefore not stated here: any difference in fragrance behaviour between petrol, diesel and electric vehicles - SOSA makes no powertrain-specific product and no powertrain claim; any cabin-volume, coverage, scent-throw, projection or evaporation figure; any claim about how a scent is perceived over hours or about sensory adaptation; any seasonal performance claim beyond the stated formulation for heat and humidity; any shelf life, expiry or concentration; and any bulk rate, minimum quantity, price break or lead time. Limits of this guide: fragrance adds a scent to a cabin. It does not remove, neutralise, mask or purify an odour, it does not clean the air, and a car that has developed a new smell is a question about the vehicle rather than about perfume. No health claim is made anywhere on this page, in either direction - nothing here states or implies that any fragrance causes or prevents a headache, nausea, motion sickness or any other effect, and nothing is said about safety in pregnancy or for children or the elderly, because SOSA publishes no information this page can rely on. No third-party brand is named and no competitor or category of competing product is characterised. No rating, review count, strength percentage or customer name from any product page is cited. Bulk orders are welcome and custom label or logo on product is available; that is the only branding option, and quantities are settled on WhatsApp. SOSA Home & Body is an Indian fragrance house based in Pune, Maharashtra, sending orders across India, with no shop, showroom, stockist, counter or warehouse in any other city. Prices and availability are subject to change - see the live product pages.
