Is SOSA Oud a real oud or a synthetic imitation?
SOSA describes it as naturally-derived agarwood, warm and smokeless, structured as resinous wood at the top, agarwood warmth at the heart and an amber musk base. That is the description we will stand behind, and we will not embellish it beyond what SOSA publishes. What is worth understanding is the smokeless part, because a great deal of what is sold as oud in the car category leans on an ashy, scorched effect that becomes difficult to sit in inside a small sealed cabin. A warm reading without that scorched edge is what makes a deep register usable in a car at all. It is priced at Rs 509 as a hanging 12ml bottle or a 10ml spray, the same as every other format pairing in the range.
Can I use Oud as an everyday car fragrance rather than just for evenings?
You can, with the stopper tightened. SOSA positions Oud for evening and pre-event drives because it is the deepest scent in the range, and that positioning is about mood as much as strength - a warm resinous register suits an evening drive more naturally than a nine in the morning commute. But nothing stops you running it daily if that is the character you want in your car. The practical requirement is dosing discipline: use the hanging format so the level is set once and held, start it tightened, and check it with a fresh nose after a week of winter driving. If you find it heavy by the second week of January, tighten it further before you conclude that it does not work for you.
What is the difference between the hanging Oud and the Oud spray?
The oil is the same and the price is the same. The hanging 12ml is refillable glass that hangs from the rear-view mirror and gives a mild continuous throw for four to six weeks through the cabin's own air movement, with an adjustable stopper - loosen for more, tighten for less. The 10ml spray is a fine-mist atomizer that gives a strong throw exactly when you choose, at 100 sprays a bottle, and a 50ml version at Rs 1,499 gives 500 sprays at roughly Rs 3 each against about Rs 5 from the 10ml. SOSA's own framing is to choose by how you drive rather than by what you pay. For a deep register in winter, the hanging bottle is usually easier to control, because a spray peaks immediately and a hanging bottle holds a flat line.
Which is deeper, Oud or Sandalwood?
Oud is the deepest scent in the SOSA range, and Sandalwood is a different kind of depth rather than a lesser one. Oud is warm: resinous wood, agarwood warmth, amber musk underneath. Sandalwood at Rs 479 is Indian-sandalwood inspired and reads cool and meditative, which makes it a quieter and more even presence over a long drive. Vetiver at Rs 509 is drier again, real steam-distilled khus root with an earthy, grounding character. We do not publish rankings of measured throw or longevity between scents, because throw depends on the format you choose, the stopper setting or number of sprays, and the size and temperature of your cabin. Character is the useful comparison, and dose is yours.
Will a strong woody-amber scent give passengers a headache?
We cannot and will not make claims in either direction about headaches - no SOSA product prevents, relieves or treats them, and none is sold as doing so. What we can say usefully is about dose. Any fragrance in a closed heated cabin at too high a level is unpleasant to sit in, and the deepest registers reach that point soonest because the conditions amplify exactly what makes them appealing. If someone in your car finds a fragrance uncomfortable, that is a straightforward signal to reduce it, open the windows and air the cabin, or change to a lighter register such as Sea Breeze at Rs 509 or Lemon at Rs 449 - which SOSA markets as No Headache, and that is its product positioning rather than a medical claim. It is never something for a passenger to tolerate.
