The exception: a genuinely open 350–500 sq ft living-dining is the one room here bigger than a Sukoon's rating, and the one place a Vaayu at ₹11,999 earns its keep — with Sukoons still in the bedrooms.
2. Two at ₹3,798 is the honest starting point, not the finish. The living/dining and the master bedroom carry most of an ordinary day and every guest. In a four-room home, stopping there means naming two rooms you are leaving out rather than one.
3. One Sukoon in a 3BHK is emphatically not enough. It is one good room out of four. That is not a criticism of the machine — a 500ml unit is doing exactly its job — it is a description of a floor plan with four doors in it.
4. Four machines at ₹7,596 is where filling tanks becomes a chore. It covers everything and brings twelve 15ml Hotel Collection bottles with it, and it also means four tanks emptied, rinsed and refilled on the same morning every week. At that point the useful question changes from how many Sukoons to which technology.
5. The living/dining is the first room in this range genuinely bigger than one Sukoon. At 350–500 sq ft against a 270–320 sq ft rating, a large open living-dining is the one place in a home this size where a Vaayu at ₹11,999 — waterless, up to 1000m³, app and timer — is a real option rather than an upsell. Keep Sukoons in the bedrooms either way.

Why a 3BHK is four rooms, not 1,600 square feet
Every expensive mistake at this size comes from reasoning with the wrong number. People take the flat's total area, divide it by a coverage figure printed on a box, and arrive at an answer that would be correct if the flat were a warehouse. A 3BHK is a set of sealed volumes joined by doors that are shut for most of the hours that matter, and the only figure that decides anything is how many of those volumes hold somebody who is awake. What changes here, and changes the advice, is that one of the four is finally too big for one machine.

One is not enough by any reading, one is the honest start, one is the answer, one is the point of diminishing returns, and the last two are the hybrid conversation this size of home is the first to deserve.

The living-dining problem, and where the Vaayu comes in
Start with what is actually different. In a studio, a 1BHK and a 2BHK, every room you might scent sat inside or near a single Sukoon's 270–320 sq ft rating, so the only real question was how many machines and where they stood. A 3BHK living/dining runs 350–500 sq ft, and in most modern flats it is not even a room — it is a living area, a dining area and usually the entrance, with no door between any of them and a corridor opening off one end. That is a single connected volume larger than anything else in this range, and it is the first time the honest answer to "will one machine do this room" is sometimes no.
The cheap version of the fix is placement, and you should exhaust it before spending anything. Get the machine to 90–120cm on a console or sideboard rather than on the floor, because cool mist is denser than room air and descends as it disperses. Put it roughly central to the volume rather than against an end wall, and find the line the air already takes — front door to balcony, or the loop the air conditioner makes on its way back. In a 350–400 sq ft living-dining that is usually enough, and I would rather you moved a machine a metre than spent ₹11,999. What placement cannot do is make one unit behave like two, and a second Sukoon at the far end of the same open space overlaps in the middle without reaching much further at the ends.
Which is where the Vaayu at ₹11,999 becomes a real option rather than a bigger number. It is a waterless cold-air nebuliser running undiluted oil rather than a scaled-up Sukoon — different technology, rated for up to 1000m³ of connected space, with a Bluetooth app and timer and under 38dB of noise. Connected space is exactly what a large open living-dining is, and being waterless it adds no humidity, which matters in a coastal flat during monsoon. I would put one in that room in two situations: a genuinely open plan of 450–500 sq ft that flows into the entrance and corridor, or a household that runs the common areas long hours daily and has come to resent the tank. In both cases the bedrooms keep their Sukoons, because a nebuliser will not open a bedroom door either. And if your living-dining is a walled 350 sq ft room with the kitchen behind a partition, none of this applies to you — three Sukoons at ₹5,697 is your setup and I would not sell you the other machine.

The 3BHK is where my answer stops being a single sentence, and I have decided that is fine rather than a failure. In every smaller home I could tell somebody a number and a reason and be done. Here there are four doors instead of three, the fourth room is usually the one nobody has decided about, and the living-dining is large enough that for the first time the machine itself is worth questioning.
So the shape of the advice is this. Three Sukoons at ₹5,697 is the answer for a standard partitioned 3BHK, and I would not move off it for most people. Buy two now if the month only allows two — the machines cost the same in November, nothing you buy first is superseded and the bottles move between every tank. Where I will genuinely change my recommendation is the open plan: if your living, dining and entrance are one uninterrupted 450 sq ft with a corridor running off it, that room wants the Vaayu and your bedrooms still want Sukoons. What I will not do is sell an ₹11,999 machine to a flat with four internal doors and a walled sitting room, because it would not do what the invoice implied.
